We don't know each others circumstances so I just want to say really I didn't mean to offend, the people i'm around use it quite often, my gay friends use it more than my straight friends lol...

It's like nails on a chalkboard to me. No matter what manner it is used, it always has derogatory connotations.

Some homosexuals don't mind it, some do. I just think it's better left alone as to not upset anyone.

Though, try to see it from our view point. We're all open. Gay and proud. Call it what you want. But, that word just strikes us wrong. For some of us, that's all we heard when we came out. Yadda yadda, y'know?

I'll give you a slight background story as to why I don't care for it. I came out in a Class D school. Not sure if you're familiar with that term, but that's a really small school. We had cows as our next door neighbor. My entire class was maybe 40 people. Total school was maybe 300, including staff. Everyone knew everyone.

One of my friends got injured during football practice. Tackled from both sides. I called him later that night to make sure he was ok. He was heavily drugged, so I didn't think he'd care, but I told him I liked him.

Next day at school, everyone was staring at me.

"***!"
"***!"
"Hey man, wanna suck my ***?"

Yeah. *GREAT* way to start 9th grade. Coming home from school asking your sister what a *** is and watching her cry.

I believe 'tis time to drop this hostile subject. I am sure Ruiz is sorry. On a similar note, the word means the same thing to me as it does to you, Ruiz, that is to say: nothing. Perhaps it is because I do not have the same experience but that word, to me and all around me, has always been completely separate from the gay community - there was no relation.

On the other hand it has always been understandable to me that many are offended by it, much like "***" around myself, my friends, and my black family. Again, to me and those around me, the word has no relationship to its original intended target, but it still means something hurtful to others.


Oh and by the way. I mean to hold to my promise. If that clown shows up in a dream. You're getting punched, Ailoki.

Look at it this way. And I mean no ill intentions when I say this, just trying to make a point : Could you get away with saying n***** around a bunch of African Americans?
