How was/is FF13 overall guys and gals? I plan to try and get it this weekend for my ps3, the "deluxe version" if they have it.
Its a lot more oriented towards art/storytelling than action-gameplay, and also focuses more on individual characters (emotions/personality) than solely on an epic story. I thought the voice acting was cheesy at first, but you quickly get attached to one or more characters because their developments are actually really well done (think of, a good drama movie). The game really revolves around the characters, their interactions, and each has a significant role and point in the story.
Gameplay is mainly restricted to the battles. I was dissappointed of this a little bit, but then the battles are addictively fun so its great still (also extremely challenging). Great addition they added was a scoring system for each battle (kill fast basically), so that the better you do, the greater rewards you get. This really gives you an incentive to do your best in battles and developing your characters, and not just squeek by.
Incredible graphics and story/direction are a given. There is a noticable effort to reduce unnecessary attrition too: all characters gain exp at the same rate so you never have to worry about releveling characters you haven't been using, and if you die in battle, you can immediately retry that battle (this helps a lot because you will be dying a lot even during regular enemies).
In the end, I enjoyed it a lot!
P.S. I love galkas yet my favorite characters are the two head strong females haha.
P.P.S. nukes, buffing, and debuffing are actually indispensable battle assets now!
