Interesting, you guys use 日文? I assume that's a shortening of 日本, but we use 語 for language, as 文 means sentence or phrase. (I.e: 文学 = literature.)
Do you say 中文 too? Or maybe 漢文？

日文=Japanese language
日本=Japan/Japanese (adj.)
文学 in Chinese means literature. :o 语法 (or 語法 in traditional non-simplified script) is grammar.^^ It literally means "language laws."
Funny you should say "you guys," I'm as white as they come~ XD
Edit: yup, 中文 is Chinese language. :)
Edit2: in my experience (admittedly fairly limited for the time being), when talking about languages, 语/語 is often interchangeable with 文.

Ah yeah, 文学 means literature in Japanese too, but 文法, not 語法, means grammar. It's a mix and match game, it seems.

文法 works for grammar in Chinese too.^^
I can't claim to have grown up in China, and have actually only been studying the language for a year and a half now. XD Languages are my favorite thing ever. :D I'm also fluent in French.^^

Wow, that's awesome. o_o They don't teach that here lol ^^ I'm quite good at European languages, especially those of Germanic origin. Dunno why, but yay anyways. ; ; Russian, Italian, French, and spanish just work to confuse me though.

With how shitty Michigan's employment rate is? Bad enough they can't offer unemployment anymore.
I've always wanted to research my roots since I was 15. Going on 22 this month. Lol Shouldn't be too hard. I know my family name and my native name, too.

So I just got back from running errands and I just got caught up on the conversation. I am grateful to be talking to you guys on a regular basis; you're all so interesting. XD
I always feel weird when the conversation turns to this topic because I've never known where I stand among others, really. I'm glad that my folks are pretty awesome, and I'm glad that my friends don't give a crap. But in general social settings it's a bit awkward sometimes, being half-black/half-white. ^^

I remember my first day of school. 1st grade. I was constantly stared at for being South Korean. I was born with a physical birth defect, too. That and being Asian has always prevented me from making friends as sad as that is to say. I look back at all my classes before high school and I was the only Asian in the entire grade. Definitely made getting up for school difficult. Doesn't help this was a Class D school, either.
I've always found it easier to be any other race. There aren't many Asians, I've noticed.

I guess I was lucky. Although I never had a non-Latino classmate until middle school, I managed to fit in quite well.
It's kinda sad that these things still happen, but I'd like to think it's getting better, right? I sure hope so, that's why I like to study sociology.

I would have never guessed, o_o;; but then again.. most hispanics/latinos that I know/run into are lite skinned too. :x [including myself/family lol..], the part of philadelphia that I'm from.. 98% of the population is hispanic/blacks.
