I've just done a bit of looking around, and I'm wondering if I may have missed something from an Avatar Perp Cost- setup (as I would expect any SMN to use when their ava isn't doing something special).

Using the Perp Cost off Wiki (13mp/tick for most Avatars), I've managed to reduce the cost down to 3mp/tick without any weird day/hard to hit latents and wondered if I had missed something to get it lower.

So far I have:

Conjurer's Ring : -1
Auster's Robe : -1
Evoker's Ring : -1
Evoker's Pigaches +1 : -1
Nashira Gages : -1
Auto Refresh : -1
Appropriate HQ Stave : -3

-1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -3 = -9

I know I could do it if I got the SMN AF2 pieces and managed to fill the requirements (weather/day), but I was looking more for an "All the time" setup, if it was possible.

I can't find anything with higher Perp- using FFXIAH (outside getting Nirvana >.>)

The highest Fay Crozier value noted on wiki is -3 Perp, so I could use one of those instead of Stave, but it wouldn't make much difference to me anyway because I use staves on BLM, BRD, WHM and RDM~

Three things I can think of; Penance Robe, ACP SMN body, and Karura Hachigane (For Garuda).

but seriously, what you have and what enternius mentioned are it. also, and im sure you know, fey croziers can replace elemental hqs, and the -3 perp is relatively common i believe. also bahamut staff needless to say

A refresh body would be more useful than Austere if you can't get Penance or choose to get a different ACP body. Everything else listed is correct, though.

I have to ask, what difference would a Refresh body (say YYR) be to Austere's if I can't get the Avatar to 0/tick? Wouldn't it just replace the -1 Perp with +1 Refresh?

I forgot about the ACP body, which would be pretty much my only hope (as I've never seen a Penance body on Sylph yet, though a few have sold on the AH).

I'd definitely get a Hachigane, though I was hoping to find a way to knock down all my Ava's XD Guess that isn't happening.

Actually, if you have a SCH friend, they could -storm you and you can get the weather bonus from Summoner's Horn for Perpetuation cost-3.

I was just reading the comments on Summoner's Bracers +1, and I noticed one mentioning Avatar's Favor. I had completely forgotten it reduced Avatar Perp XD

So I'd be on -9 -2 = -11 =o

as far as i know the only thing -perp vs refresh will effect is carb mitts. the way its calculated -perp isnt going to make it cost less, and sacing the refresh effect from whatever will mess up it being free or +1 or more perp.

and whoa there, idk what you mean by summoner's bracers +1 and -2 perp... i think you might be getting at its +2 skill over nq relic mitts.. but the +2 skill doesnt equate to -2 perp by any means. to get +4 refresh effect (REFRESH effect, not -perp..) you need 317 smn skill or above, and anything below your at +3 refresh.

Carbuncle mitts (carby cost cut to half rounded down)
Karura Hachigane (Garuda cost -2?)
Avatar's Favor (cost -2)
Penance Robe (cost -1 more, for -2 total)
Diabolos' Favor (Refresh effect 1~4mp/tick)
Sanction / Sigil
FoV Refresh / Sublimation* / Refresh

Fenrir, Carbuncle, Garuda & Diabolos can all be brought down to "free" or +1~2mp/tick without extreme conditions, or massive epeen pimp gear.

Avatar's Favor grants a Perpetuation- while you have your avatar out. According to wiki it's -2 Perp cost, which is where I got that from. My SMN is still only 53, so I can't see for myself ._.

you get a -2 perp for avatars as long as favor is active yes. thought you were talking about hq smn bracers

I was looking at the comments on the HQ Smn bracer page and someone had mentioned it XD I had completely forgotten about it, only reason I mentioned.

Another question, in terms of making a SMN friendly ACP body, I was looking at either Pet: Acc+/Att+ or Pet: Att+/BP-, though I'd prefer to BP in YYR and swap out to something more specialised for it (being the Acc/Att boost). Which would be the most suitable body piece? Would making a Ava Perp-/BP- piece be a "suitable" augment? Or are there already ways of doing the same thing better? I know YYR would be superior for the BP-, but I'm not sure if the extra Perp- I can get from RR would be better than making it a stable body piece for BP'ing. I play fairly conservatively, so the Perp- is very appealing as it would save me a fairly significant chunk of MP over time.

Note that I'm like half asleep.

My Redingote personally is acc/att + matt/macc. I however usually use SMN for endgame situations, not soloing. I BP, release, etc and generally use my Merit BPs. I could've gotten away with Perp/Magic... maybe sometime I'll change it. If you have macros, Macro in BP- first, and swap to things that boost potency, then after use perp- gear.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head to boost potency would be ACP body and YYR XD

ACP body would be my best source of Perp- as I'm not likely to get a Penance Robe anytime soon.

Would I be better using the SMN Skill+ off YYR to BP in, and switch out to ACP body with Perp-? Or would adding Att+ Acc+ be more beneficial?

Unless I'm on crack, YYR doesn't have skill+. If you really want Perp- go for it since it's a great piece for that, but I personally like nailing things with numbers, and I don't solo on SMN so eh. I personally go the all-out damage route.

Not sure what I was looking at then XD I just checked YYR's stats and it doesn't have Skill+.. Yeah ok, just ignore me XD

On the note of the ACP body, I'm (as a future Nirvana wielder) going with Perp -2 and Magic Attack until I finish Nirvana and have extra gil to buy the Penance Robe (9mil on Unicorn right now).

As people have said before it's not the optimal augments to choose, since Penance exists, but it's really not such a bad choice as they are the only two pieces in the game that have -2 perp for body. If you can't get -2 on the body, don't use Austere. use a refresh piece as it will also provide benefit when your avatar is away and (in my opinion) is a better use of your gil.

As to perp, over all, you're not really missing much. People have covered almost all of the missing things here except:
