I woke up this morning and have been unable to connect to PoL.
It keeps telling me Network busy and to check my connection/cables.
Nothing has changed and i reset my modem/router and ip to try adn solve the issue and i cant get past it.
Anyone else having hte same issue?

That's because POL is undergoing maintenance. If I remember, it's from 8:00-13:00 (PST). Try again in a few hours.

Think it was random emergency maintenance. I didn't hear about it until people were posting about it.
Nope, not emergency. Has been scheduled for a long time now. I remember reading about it several days after the last update came about. Seems they're putting in the synergy system today, along with a few other things and fixes.

i thought synergy would come in an offcial update. This is somewhat of an unexpected POL update. Its not unexpected they said ages ago the update would be in 2 parts. 9th nov and another at the end of november.

I don't think this is the Synergy update. It sounds like they are adding or updating hardware or something along those lines. The messages were saying Playonline maint not FFXI.
They usually announce a version update like 5 times before actually doing it. "We will be performing PlayOnline server maintenance on Nov. 23, 2009 from 16:00 to 21:00 (GMT). PlayOnline, FINAL FANTASY XI, Tetra Master, Square Enix Account Management System, FINAL FANTASY XI Linkshell Community Beta Version, Friend List Plus on official website, and the Community Site's Owner Menu on official website will be unavailable at this time."

I know lots of folks on Gilgamesh logged out at spawn points,they'll be pretty pissed off if this maintenance doesn't reset spawn times.
