Crowd Funding

A certain space game (Star Citizen) recently broke the $1B crowd funded barrier, with no release date in sight. That is One Billion dollars raised, big B.

Game has been in development hell and early access for over a decade.



What does everyone think about that.

1 billion dollars too much.

In this instance one billion is not enough.

IMO it's vapourware.

Duke Nukem Forever can't hold a candle to this thing.

We'll probably have personal space travel available before this game comes out.

Sony pleased to know that their game (Concord) will no longer hold the record for video game that burned the most money.

$1,000,000,000 ain't vapor. It may have been vaporized though.

Snorted rather than vapourised, more likely.

Developers like to ***on project managers, but the reality is they are needed to keep ***like this from happening and stop scope creep. The whole crowdfunding model could've been more successful long term if Kickstarter/etc required some form of project management when a certain threshold was exceeded to protect the project and manage the funds.

Some of the people behind these projects need reined in
