But that's just for me, and certain others. it doesn't have to be your cup of tea. I'm not shitting on you, or anyone else.
Yeah it largely depends on the person and their circumstances: how old they are, RL commitments, other hobbies, how much time they spent on the game, how much time they actually love to keep spending on the game, their current status in the game (how much they've achieved, how much more they'd love to achieve), what they enjoy about the game, etc etc.

So I agree with both your and Maletaru's perspectives, since I think they can both be valid, depending on the person. And one person can go from one perspective to another depending on their goals and circumstances.

I DO know some players though that want the game to play itself for them without them even understanding basic concepts (like basic DPS formulas), and I honestly can't understand why they play this game to begin with (well, I kinda do. Some have an emotional connection, and for some this is the only game they've ever known, and they just treat it like a gear-collecting project & enjoy watching their characters "grow", even if they don't ever put them to any real use that requires 50% of the gear they collected - picture a figurine collection)

And you can edit all 22 gear files, with cut/paste in 3 minutes? That's much faster than I lol, I guess I never really timed myself doing it, lol.

@Thorny basically just said this but, visuals sometimes help...

I'm not saying AI doesn't have it's uses, but there's no reason to use it for something like this that is already very easy to use, and fast, and has no chance of failing compared to AI.

I added an in-game display to your frame work sel. Thanks for building it, its been my favorite gearswap system for a while now.

Yeah, my initial example was pretty lame, maybe I should have added on some additional factors like "only change the ring for savage blade sets and decimation sets labeled with a .pdl"

Sorry my initial example was a waste of tokens.

This is the easy way to go if you are swapping out pieces within the same gear set. Its less easy if you are say, changing a WS ring to a TP ring or crafting ring.

Of all the discussion and advice in this thread, i have not seen the simplest solution.

If you are going to present a tool to the community, use it first, and make the example output you share the one your are using.

I assume the OP made gearswap file they actually use with the tool, so why did they generate one for a job they don't play? you cant verify it and you end up with people pointing out stupid mistakes.

present the tool with a list of the jobs you play and used it to generate your gearswaps for and then just show one of those.

100% within your power to not click a thread you don't want to read.

We don't need to be reminded of your psychosis on every thread.

If someone feels entitled enough to advertise how good their slop is, others will criticise it.

Pretty simple. You may also refrain from commenting, keyboard warrior.

You know unlike a statement like "I have been in sales for 16 years" or similar your statement has 2 possible means which are both valid.

YOU RECIEVED mental health counseling for 16 years or
you are the counselor.

I just found that kind of funny, I assume you mean you are the counselor, English is the worst programming language.

if they meant they were the counselor, they would have said "as someone who's been in a mental health councilor in for 16 years"

But they also doubled down on "in", so theyre either ESL, which poor english is forgiven, or they edited that post multiple times to write it properly and wound up leaving stuff that was meant to be deleted, I do this often.

Counciling* (nynja you sorta read into that mistype a bit eh? Gotta love phone keyboards and auto correct)

Ive been seeing mental health professionals since 2010, after my 2nd combat tour (out of 4)
It took along time to get right. But im doing pretty good nowadays, and its weird to see people like doddik, who act the way they do about things they cant control, but who allow those things to control them. Its unhealthy.

And then they say things like " Worry about yourself random internet therapist..."
Lmao

It's funny you project your own issues onto others and claim to be some kind of expert due to having issues.

Bet you use therapy talk irl too.

Friends tell me about FF14 where every 6 months almost all gear is just useless.

Yup, 14's gear and combat systems get stale after a while. The combat system revolves around fight mechanics like poking a button during the middle of a fight to avoid insta raid wipe, running in circles just ahead of the boss as he spins like a top shooting insta death lasers right behind you (don't get caught), standing on top of each other so the boss doesn't throw a giant rock at one of your DPS and instant KO them (It's 10k needles basically), avoiding the bosses knockback move that throws you off the edge of the battlefield into a pit of instant death, jumping between checkerboard tiles back and forth between red and black alternating to the safe one while the other explodes, and dpsing a dozen random spikes in the wall before time runs up ... leave just one alive and everybody dies.

You know... fun stuff like that. But gear progression? This piece has 500 strength and 450 determination and 450 crit, the next has 510 strength, 425 determination and 465 crit, then you get a piece with 540 strength, 475 determination, and 430 crit. Oooooh, such interesting upgrades! The main factor is the higher strength, the secondary stats are a much smaller thing. And nobody gives a ***about any of it. You just wear the highest lvl piece you can get access to and forget about it until the next comes along 3 months later.

I like FF11's combat and gear system both way better than 14. In 14 the cinematics, sound tracks, flashy animations and cutscenes are the star of the show (they DO have some brilliant storytelling and epic cutscenes, just way too many fetch and kill quests). But 11 makes gear feel like it matters, and getting gear means something. 14 is just a roller coaster of remembering what the boss will do next and not being in the wrong place. 11's combat system is way more fun IMO.

Their story telling is highly overrated (how many times does the main cast "sacrifice" themselves?) Their cutscenes are also mostly horrid. They are extremely rigid and just have the characters repeating the same lame animations such as head nodding or running, stopping and then gasping. Literally every single expansion is like this. Then, like you mentioned, its FILLED with fetch quests to the brim or the click 3 glowing dots and return to NPC over and over and over.

I enjoyed the main story quest for what it was. I never took it too seriously. I think heavansward, shadowbringers, and endwalker all had some really good moments, but yes they fill it with tedium in between, and the fight mechanics are kind of interesting the first time you see them, but then get old after they re use them for the hundredth time later. And it's always something that punishes you with instant death no matter how well your geared or buffed. I never got into the end game scene because I can't enjoy that kind of gameplay loop. Extremes and Ultimates just throw way more catch 22 "oops, you're all dead now" into the mix and I don't enjoy that style of design. People actually grind those fights in similar time intervals as we do to get prime weapons and limbus gear, having to redo countless efforts until everyone gets the rhythm down pat. Not my cup of tea. I'll take sortie and limbus over that.

I think the game can be worth playing when new content patches come out for the atmosphere, but I can't take it seriously beyond the basic experience. Guess that makes me a filthy casual, but it is a very pretty world and I do like all the throwbacks and references to older games.

1) I never said I was an expert, I said I was experienced
2) I'm not gonna personally attack you, I made my observation, you continue to re-iterate and re-enforce that observation, I think we're done here.
