Hi all, so I've got about 25 scales so far but haven't touched Glavoid or Orthus yet.

Summarising my strategy, but please lemme know if I could do it better or if you can add any tips, (also don't have abyssite of discernment unfortunately yet):

Glavoid
  • Atma = Suneater (STP) + Persistent (STP)

  • Jobs = THF/WAR, not sure if better subjob exists but I won't need procs for this if I use chest drops.

  • Strategy = Aeolian spam and farm gold chests - this campaign could be good for it maybe. Could use some tips for boss, I hear it's a proccing nightmare or something similar of that note. (Searched glavoid in the forums and mostly saw posts from 2013-ish so maybe there are good ways to kill it now. Seeing some talk here.)

Izpatl Scales
  • Atma = Suneater (STP) + Persistent (STP)

  • Jobs = NIN/WAR, wonder if can get away with THF/??? with fewer red procs.

  • Strategy = Kill 2 NMs like usual, and the timed one, red proccing them all. Spawn, have TH2 hit and kill final NM.

Orthus
  • Atma = Suneater (STP) + Persistent (STP)

  • Jobs = NIN/WAR, seems like too many NMs to not red proc.

  • Strategy = Kill NMs like usual and hope the TH2 helps cause a double drop. Didn't see if this boss has any annoying mechanics.

Thanks! I find this part of the farm the most challenging and patience-testing so would appreciate all the help I can get from experienced dancers here.

Glavoid: Do not box farm. Amber light sucks in Tahrongi, you basically have to find Bhumi and land an aeolian edge without killing it with auto-attacks which is harder than it sounds. And then when you have the amber light, you have ten key items in that pool, ultimately you end up rolling on a 10% chance of getting that one last piece of the pop set you need. Running around to the mobs is just faster. I think the mid-step pop items may even be 100% drops from Abas and Tefenet (make sure you're remembering to turn away from his death gaze!)

Itzpapalotl: Get phalanx up somehow (Koru-Moru will work if you can engage a mob without killing it) and cleave chigoes, box farm is a lot more viable in Attohwa because there are only six key items to worry about. Watch out for Tunga, he steals buffs, which can be deadly if you have a whole pull of fleas nibbling on you and suddenly that phalanx is gone. Doing the full NM path works too, but doing it both ways felt the fastest to me. Getting from the erucas to the wamouras sucks, pack miasmal counteragents or just warp to conflux 8 and run to the eruca section that way.

Orthrus: Grab Ansherekh when you can, but otherwise, screw farming all that legitimately. Get yourself 56 amber light, 192 azure, and cap pearlescent, then go cleave the detectors over conflux 8. If you're doing it solo, you might be able to use recycle bin smuggling to load up six pops worth at a time and just bang out some quick puppies; try dropping a tiger king hide or Sharabha hide and see what happens when you add another one to the treasure pool via a gold box. Mob drops will bypass the normal inventory check and let you have a second if you're solo, but I don't know if box drops will play nice like that. When fighting Amarok for your key items, be aware that the howling animation prevents staggers, and once he starts using it he doesn't stop spamming it until it's time to cast a spell.

And of course, if at all possible, cheat. Glavoid and Chloris were exactly the problem Kupon I-Aby was created to solve; if you have any, this is the time to use them.
