Hello~
Returning to the game after a 5-6 year hiatus, and I'm trying to sift through my inventory and figure out what I can toss to make some space. I have a list of things I am currently not actively using and was wondering if they are still useful for some jobs or if they are outclassed and not worth having anymore. I've already asked in my 3 linkshells that I joined since coming back, and none of them have been helpful as they are mostly new or also returning players who don't know.

Would anyone be willing to help me out on this?
The jobs I am now focusing on are WHM WAR RDM and THF.

Just dbox it to youraltself if you aren't sure.

I hope you didnt hand type that.

Twilight pieces are still good.
Don't toss the old cloak even if you get the new one.
dbox it.
battlecast gaiters if you are tp/exping on a mage job, dbox.

Send everything you're not using to a mule so you don't have to worry about what to keep/toss. It'll always be 'over there' if you decide to level other jobs, but it's not cluttering your own inventory.

Keep:
Anwig (depending on augs)
Yorium Cuisses
Gifted Earring
Twilight Helm
Twilight Mail
Andoaa Earring
Ternion Dagger (unless you already have +1)
Culminus
Twilight Cloak
Metamorph Ring (unless you already have +1)
Warden's Ring (maybe)
Odyssean Chestplate
Amar Cluster

Get rid of the rest.

You can keep thousands of useless gear on mules that you will never equip, it's true. But why would you? Waste of time for pointless armor that will never be used, IMO.

While I wouldnt mule everything, some of the neat pre-99 stuff could be worth keeping on mules to have available if you ever wanna level more jobs in the future. Things like Joyeuse and Swift Belt. Otherwise these days usually people just use sparks gear til AF gear, then perle/aurore/teal til 99 and swapping to iLvl stuff.

Maletaru hit pretty much most of the noteworthy stuff but I may as well post my assessment since I was writing it up in a .txt lol

anwig salade: the "Waltz ability delay" still sees use for DNC I think
gifted earring: decent conserve Mp earring
umbra strap: acceptable dt idle grip if you have nothing better for mages
twilight helm+mail: keep for auto reraise zombie use if you play any of those jobs. never know when guaranteed reraise can come in handy. if you ever get the ilvl versions, then can toss these.
ternion dagger: +1 augmented version is still a pretty solid dagger/offhand if lacking better options
shadow belt: if you do not yet have a fotia belt, keep until you collect all the elemental belts. they can be combined via synergy into a single belt to free up inventory + bonus (low chance) of no tp spent for applicable weaponskills
agema cape: ok idle DT cape if you have nothing better
andoaa earring: keep, the enhancing skill+ is important for any jobs that uses enhancing magic, as is the summoning magic skill if you ever play SMN.
thief's knife: free TH+ offhand for farming stuff on THF until if/when you get an iLvl TH+ dagger
culminus: keep; its a solid shield for mages. There are superior stuff for enhancing & enfeebling and for more common nukes, but the Magic DMG+ makes it superior for certain spells and situations.
twilight cloak: important to keep for access to impact. there is an ilvl version but its very rare and most people get it via luck in AMAN trove.
goading belt: still a fairly solid starter haste belt since it's all jobs and has store tp. most jobs have far superior replacements but it's nice to keep around until you get something better. has enmity+ on it for including in enmity macros where applicable.
calamitous earring: another decent Conserve MP earring to keep
roundel earring: decent cure potency piece to have for those jobs until you possibly dont need it from capping cure potency elsewhere
warden's ring: keep, despite the lowish PDT, Enemy Critical Hit Rate -% is a rare stat and can potentially slot in for super turtle DT sets. Shines when you're doing really big pulls in a DT idle set.
metamorph ring: keep if you dont yet have a +1. The augmented +1 is still a very powerful ring for magic damage and magic accuracy
mensch strap: decent pdt & regen idle piece for mages if idling with a staff
odyssean chest: use for tp if you have nothing better, after not needing for tp can always augmented it with utility stuff such as for fast cast set, phalanx+, etc.
amar cluster: decent ammo piece if you have nothing better. rare counter+ ammo piece, some people keep it for sets for countering

EDIT: If you like making lockstyles, also factor that in before muling/tossing if you think something looks cool for that. Most players are sane and practical and don't sacrifice too much space for lockstyles (I am not sane)

Thanks ya'll, that helped me tailor down my inventory quite a bit and freed up a ton of space.

I also went through the rest of my inventory that wasn't listed and stored everything I could. I can breathe again!
