Windower Crashing To Desktop.

Ok, have been having 1 kind of windower crash now. The instant crash straight to desktop. I installed dgvoodoo about a day ago and that seemed to stop my other type of crash. The freeze for a few seconds and then crash. But this instant crash is persisting. It's usually in a fight, not when I'm just running around doing missions and stuff. I have also been running without too many addons. Anyway...

So what I'm looking for, is can you guys give me a detailed explanation of how and where to dig up the crash file information. Any kind of information that might shed light on what's crashing pol. Sorry, I've never done it before, please be kind...I'm stupid.

Hopefully if I can find the relevant information, someone here can look at it and tell me what is going on. I'd really appreciate it.

I'm on pc, have a 3070gpu,32gig of ram and an i7-8700kcpu.
Have Amilile's HD packs installed, and am running config, battlemod, distance, gearswap, tp party, trusts, sometimes I use fastcs.

Windower never used to crash this much.

Anyway yea...I appreciate it if someone can baby step me through how to get all info related to the crash from my system.

I think I might do a clean install, I've got some work holidays coming up. So I can take a day to start from scratch if need be.

an incorrect dgvoodoo set up can cause crashes, I would suggest you come to the windower support discord channel

Hello, thank you. I think I'll do a completely fresh install. Then come over and see you guys to get dgvoodoo setup.

Which channel should I jump into, #support? What's the etiquette there, just jump in and say what I need, and ask for assistance?

I'm going to uninstall FFXI and Playonline and then delete all the folders & then reinstall. Is there anything I should take note of?
Should I also start my windower from scratch, or can I leave that as is? Can windower be anywhere, does it matter? Install Thorny’s large address aware patch before or after dgvoodoo, or it doesn’t matter?

I won't have time till this weekend, but I will definitely be over at some point.

PS; sorry for all the questions. I just wanna do it right.

I just looked up what that was, sounds cool. A good reason for a fresh install right there. Will I be able to install Amilile's HD packs with that? I haven't been able to have a good look at it yet other than a quick glance. On the weekend though I'd be keen to give it a try. Any things of note when setting up and using xipivot?

As for the crashes, 99% of them have been in solo fights with 5 trusts out. I want to say that it usually occurs when using a weapon skill, but I'm not 100% sure it didn't happen during other actions as well. The other 2 times I crashed was trying to instantly log back in after one of the above crashes.

These crashes happened in Limbus and Sortie, there were numerous. I haven't had any problems while running around catching up on Missions. I also haven't crashed when I've left my character standing around overnight. The Limbus fights had a few linked mobs, but the Sortie fights were all against a single target I'd pulled away. I was also doing some campaign with tons of mobs and had absolutely no problems there.

You could make a backup before you uninstall, just in case you need to reference any settings you were using that are not defaults. Definitely backup your macros if you haven't done that lately.

Backing up macros is the only thing I do religiously.

Fresh install, crashed in Sortie on pulling an NM,forgot to set up crash dumps though. Have it in now.

I just popped over now. Rubenator sorted me out. Just testing it out now, doing stuff that usually makes me crash. He/she was very helpful, much appreciated. Time to test!

Sortie usually crashes me 100%, but I've already crashed there today, before I got some help. Ok. still crashing but hopefully 1 step closer.
