I'm finally deciding to work on an Empyrean weapon. I have stored up 12 Mog Kupon I-Aby over the years and trying to plan out where I want to spend them and looking for advice for efficiently being able to farm the items needed from Abyssea.

Based on your experience or the items I am targeting, which items would you recommend cashing in my mog kupons for? With my current kupons, I have 24 items worth of items that I won't have to worry about and I know some items take more time or are more tedious to get pop sets for.

Please let me know your thoughts and feel free to give any tips/advice for general farming or specific items that I would be targeting. I have THF and WAR/NIN and NIN/WAR and am able to do the all the red proccing business. I also have a buddy that can help hold pop items or other general assistance in the abyssea zones. Interested to hear input from those that have paid in blood/sweat/tears to complete an Empy weapon. Thanks in advance!

These are the two that I am most interested in, currently:
Twashtar - Glavoid Shell(50), Itzpapalotl's Scale(50), Orthrus's Claw(75)
Daurdabla - Iron Plate(50), Colorless Soul(75), Apademak's Horn(75)

TL;DR- As the topic suggests, I am looking for Empyrean farming advice and suggestions of how to use Kupon I-Aby x12.

Edit-- Glavoid and Chloris seem to be the consensus. Thanks everyone

Glavoid is far and away the worst

of your options, that one

Plates and Colorless souls aren't an option. Itz and Cerb aren't too bad. Apadmak kinda sucks but still way better than glavoid.

Glavoid because it's a pain to get all the KI to pop.

Otherwise, Apademak depending on the server, it could be camped because it's fairly popular. I still would go with Glavoid.

Beauty of that quote is that it doesn't matter how you meant it in most context of the game, and it's still true.

Apademak

Apademak is super easy, the pop items drop like crazy from boxes. Much easier to farm than KIs because you can abuse dropping them as a "temporary" way to store them.

personally, I recommend using them on Itzpapalotl's Scales, over Glavoid. Attohwa is a more frustrating zone to navigate, and you still have a lengthy pop process on either, tipping the scales toward Itz. having said that, Aby items are sendable across the same account, I recently built Twashtar and only needed to farm up ~10 Glavoids. I sat on popping Orthrus for so long, with the extra bout this month, I said *** it and just grabbed Hides via mules.

Oh damn, that may have been a smart idea, I should keep that in mind for next bout.

The question becomes if a couple dollars is worth 6x pop items...

respectfully disagree. my typical itz farm just parks at tunga and farms ki from gold boxes while waiting on repops. if you get unlucky then go chase down whatever you're missing.

glavoid you can also farm gold boxes, but the chigoes are very small spawn area, relatively near the itz pop spot, and can pop wamoura quickly. eruca is the only annoying part if it won't load in gold box. also, fewer "bad" ki than the ones you want compared to tahrongi.

Glavoid is that big of a *** that I'd say, undoubtably, given that bronze tier for the kupon is very low effort, and that those characters get pro-rated, you might only pay a dime.

Also, worth having the 15 mules with maximum login points for when they roll around again in the log in, that's worth too. You can finish a whole stage of 50 (and some extra) from that.

Why do I dislike farming Itz more than Glavoid? I think part of it is to do with liking the openness of Tahongri more and that it reminds me of good times playing fresh when I was 17 (started in Windurst)

Itzapopalotlusslkasjdlksadj was so much quicker to farm though.

I will never do Glavoid again lol.

I too just chill at Tunga and cleave the chigoes.

I did glavoid twice, back to back. Due to proximities I really didnt find glavoid all that annoying.

I find anyone who uses those kupons for anything but Chloris buds (first) is completely insane...even if you don't have the appropriate job (yet).

I want a Redemption. I just don't want to do Chloris. Chloris hurts my soul.

Glavoid has two timed 20 minute repops, it's the only empyrean mob that has two. (iirc, without wiki'ing)

If you're lucky and get both, thats great. If you're not and a jizzbag takes one, now you're standing around with your *** in your hand for an hour.

(*) Colorless Souls don't count

Tahrongi needed better cleave spots, too many sight aggro and too many casters (kons and lathein have ***cleave too, but their mob isn't 9 mobs deep)

Ya Glavoid and Chloris definitely the two worst and therefor the best to use your kupons on.

Everyone has already stated the correct answer. If you couldn't tell, it's Glavoid. 12 kupons gets you about halfway there, the rest of the grind is not so bad.

Glavoid Shells are the reason I won't get an Ukonvasara unless they ever do empy items for login points again. If it was anything other than Glavoid/Chloris, I'd probably make it. That's how bad Tahrongi NMs are.

I think it's crazy to pick any other item unless you are absolutely completely sure you'll never want Glavoid Shells or Chloris Buds.

I've just finished the 50x Glav and 50x Itzpa just recently. I'd say between the two, definitely skip glav over itz. Itz was wonderfully simple (once you get some miasmal counteragents) compared to glav. In comparison, Itz was almost kinda fun.

Personally the only thing i would choose to skip over glavoid/chloris
Would be fistule and alfard

Theres is no way to do fistul faster than every 10-15mins which makes it slower than glavoid (if you do glavoid in a group)

And alfard takes items from gold chest and not key items so keeping light low slows you down in kill speed

however fistule is something that you can work on in between other stuff and if you do it that way you dont really feel fistule.

Just alternatives.

This is a trick I think a lot of people dont know.

Not every enemy in abyssea can give all lights, most enemies have 1 type of light they cant give.

As an example, in Abyssea - Grauberg (where alfard spawns), Sensenmann and Goblin Meatgrinder dont give amber light

So you can spam Aeolian Edge on them all you like and it wont ever mess up your Amber light levels :)

This page is a handy reference to keep on hand for farming chests https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Abyssea_Lights

It's definitely handy to know which mobs cannot give

amber if you AEcleave
ruby if you fellcleave
azure for blucleave

Fistule is pretty nice if you're going to be multi-tasking and doing other things. Don't bother with lights, just come back and kill it every so often. Super low stress the last time I did it.

To add in here oneshotting when magic cleave also does not give azure light.

My issue is the nm killspeed feels slow as you can just go nuts with a ws withoput risking unwanted lights
