Looking for some input regarding these belts. Just returned to the game recently after a year or two break and I'm seeing a lot of set guides using Skrymir where Orpheus used to be.

Specifically as it pertains to Cor and Rng WS's (Trueflight, Leaden, Wildfire).

Is this simply an inventory saver, as the difference is marginal, or is Skrymir+1 actually beating Orpheus. I'm obviously not talking about a ranged situation where Orpheus wouldn't be used, but something like Dyna where you're in melee range spamming Leaden or Trueflight.

Please share your thoughts or personal testing.

Orpheus wipes the floor with Skrymir when its conditions are favourable.

I think the guides generally show a piece like Skrymir, which is consistent, then there are other pieces that are conditionally better, like Orpheus and Hachirin.

Orpheus when close. Obi when not close and storm matches. Skrymir the rest of the time.

Secondary choice in that situation is Acuity Belt +1 (22~23 INT with 15 MAcc).

22 or 23 INT vs. 7 MAB and 35 MDMG depends what spell you are casting, but it is pretty easy to tell a story (e.g. tier 6 on something high level) where Acuity +1 is better.

IMO this belt is mostly for helices and perhaps COR shots done at range, because they have low M and always get day/weather bonuses and thus don't benefit from an Obi.

And when it comes Helix spells, the difference isn't significant enough to justify the high price tag compared to Sacro Cord. Granted I've only ever done A and B testing on Ongov25s 5step helix RP cheese.

Tbf, agreed. I have had it on my shopping list for months but when I think about how many gearswap files I would add it to and how negligible the improvement would be, I can't make myself pull the trigger.

I don't even have full Empy+3 yet. Blowing a hundred mil on the fourth best general purpose nuking waist* doesn't seem like the way.

* but sometimes the best

FWIW, Skrymir +1 is also excellent for NIN casting elemental ninjutsu at range. Orpheus when close, but otherwise Skry+1 should be BiS, and is well suited to elemental ninjutsu where M.Dmg is quite good.

Pretty niche use case though, which is why I only have NQ Skrymir despite having had the +1 on my nice-to-have list for ages.
