RIP Hulk Hogan

Imagine making politics part of your personality

No matter what your political beliefs, it's a fact that Hulk Hogan was a virulent racist.
Hope he packed light, because it's hot where he's headed.

Is the implication here that because he said that phrase everything bad he ever did in life is immediately forgiven?
Because if so whoo boy does that not speak well for Christianity as a whole.

Because if so whoo boy does that not speak well for Christianity as a whole. The implication is that he turned his life over to Christ.
Water baptism is merely symbolism for him dying to himself and living for Christ.
So yes, we take that to mean he has accepted Christ's forgiveness.

Okay. Nice religion you got there.

If he meant it then yes. (saying empty words means nothing). The only person in the history of the world who's salvation was guaranteed is one of the thieves that died next to Jesus, (whether you believe it or not is irrelevant, Christians do) and that's probably an even more stark example than this.
Nobody is perfect, most people look at that and see if that person can be atoned for, so can I. "your religion can make that awful person a better person, your religion sucks" is a bit of an odd take.

A man gets smacked in the face with a chair for a living and you expect him to have good political opinions?
Humanity is doomed.
This is like the whole reason people believe in dead internet theory (on both side of any argument).
Your opposition has a take that seems so insane you can hardly believe 1 person could possibly hold it, but half of all people interacting now that seem impossible. Only reasonable conclusion is they must not be real, even though we know better and that is not a reasonable conclusion.

If the sole requirement to become a "good person" is to, on their dearh bed, go "you know all those people I killed and hurt and lives I destroyed? I'm sorry", then your judgment system is flawed and stupid. I think it's probably insulting to actual Christians how some people dumb down their belief system to erase all nuance in favor of a "get out of hell free card". It's all moot anyway, he's dead in the ground and should I unintentionally stumble on his grave I'll be sure to piss on it.
*** saying nice things about evil people, and *** you for suggesting anyone should be silent just because you like sosp operas for mentally challenged men.

You don't have to agree with someone.
You don't have to like someone.
You can also enjoy something a person does, makes, etc while they have a viewpoint or something you don't agree with.
Cancel culture is wild
I'll say it again
I enjoyed the character not the person
Edit Politics are for losers

Once again an odd take for someone who died suddenly of a heart attack and was never accused of killing anyone. Did Hulk make news for bad reasons? sure did. I don't think anyone has even disputed that. He also brought some joy to a lot of folks, I can promise you you won't like everything everyone's done for everything you've watched or listened to. Pretty sure you're using technology from people who have invented stuff you would also think are bad people are you going to boycott that? Maybe try and sound less like the Joker. just a thought.

There are a lot of bad people in the world. Humans are wont to measure acts with a moral compass; that some acts of "badness" are worse than others, that some people are outright rotten whereas others are only half rotten, or partially bad. Even then there are two sides to every coin. No human is truly good or truly bad, and many of our actions are a result of learned interactions, even past relational abuse. The Christian belief is that all humans are in the same boat, and that there is only one rout to salvation; that by asking Jesus for forgiveness with the sincere belief that he was indeed the true son of God, that sin can be forgiven and eternal rest in peace achieved. But the belief must be sincere. Hollow words with no conviction mean nothing.
Consider the example of Charles Whitman, the Texas tower sniper of 1966. On the surface you would think he was a horrible person. He flat out mass murdered 17 people with no indication beforehand. Stabbed his mother and took a gun to a crowd from the 28th floor observation deck. He knew he would be killed by the police in the altercation, and he left a suicide note asking that when he was dead that his body be autopsied because he felt like something was wrong with him. The autopsy returned a pecan size brain tumor pressed up against his amygdala, which is the lobe responsible for anger, stress, and aggression. He did something horrible, but it's likely he wasn't really sane. Brain tumors have since been documented with irrational insanity.
Hulk wasn't a nice person, and I won't paint the picture that he was. The world would be better off with less people like him. And my example has nothing to do with him either; it was just a thinking point. Personally I never followed wrestling, and I never liked him. But I still wouldn't be disrespectful to say I'd desecrate his grave if I ever came upon it. We all have our problems and life is miserable for everyone at some point. Some people go out of their way to make others miserable, and that's a problem. But in the end life is short, and there's never enough time. Just some food for thought.

In my book there is a huge difference between someone going through ***and responding badly.
VS a dude that should have nothing to complain about and just decided to be a bad person.
He was definitely NOT excellent to others. (especially if they had a different skin color)

That dude Hulk, he was always red could see this heart failure coming a mile away. Probably wasn't even the steroids.

Timeless words from the wisest of creatures.
A phrase told to children, who aren't able to regulate their own emotions.
If you make a post about a controversial person, who is part of a racist political party and has mysoginistic views, then accept that you will see controversial opinions.
Or go join /conservative where the echochamber locks down every post unless you're part of their group.

another trump supporter dead
good ***
Could this be considered political hate speech?
I’m not being facetious. Praising the death of someone regardless of reason is weird. Doing it based on political leanings might be an added grievance.
Edit I know nothing about Hulk Hogan. I have no bread in that fight.

Again, where do you draw the line? Is it okay to praise Stalin being dead? Should we lament that he was taken too soon?
You people are so high and mighty, yet if someone harmed you in an irreversible way you might not be so forgiving. Go *** yourself.

I didn't make the thread. I sure as hell am not going to let it be a thread praising his *** without someone calling out his ***.

At this point, this is just angry for the sake of being angry in an almost satirical level. Sometimes you gotta let this ***go, or you'll burst a vein.

Hogan definitely came off great/as a role model when I was a naive child in the 80s/90s, but brother was straight up a garbage person in every way. The world is better off without a racist union busting fascist.
Defending him also makes you a garbage person. Especially if you are using the guise of religion to do so.

The issue of contention is the advocation of violence (death in this case) for political support of a politician (Trump). In any other focus (race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender) this would be considered hate speech.
It’s wild to me how much vitriol is present in contemporary politics. I remember an age when people would ‘agree to disagree with their respected colleagues’. Now it’s all about who is ‘evil’ and undeserving of human decency. It’s present on both sides in American politics.
In my opinion, this whole thread is just ridiculous and Rooks should lock it. The OP did nothing wrong and was just trying to express condolences for a celebrity’s passing.
You people are so high and mighty, yet if someone harmed you in an irreversible way you might not be so forgiving. Go *** yourself.
So Hogan personally, physically, harmed you? I’m sorry to hear that. Physical violence should never be allowed.
When you say “you people”. What are you referring to? FFXI players? Gamers? I’m not certain I follow.

Topic bans have been issued to folks who can't be/aren't civil.
I sure am glad reality appointed so many of you to be the arbiters of morality. I sure hope none of you have ever done anything untoward, and that if you have, that you'll judge yourselves by the same standards.
You can be glad someone's dead in private, but you won't be expressing it here. That's a rotten nature, and you should relinquish thinking and behaving in such a manner.
And you should enjoy the luxury of privacy, because Hulk Hogan had none. Which is why you know of his racism. A leaked sex tape from his private life. Whether leaked for publicity or to tear the man down, can't say, but most every person on this earth has dirt they don't want seen. Celebrities more than most.
If the thread continues the way it has been, it will be locked.
