Why no switch, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
It's definitely coming to Switch
It's coming to all platforms. Really looking forward to it, full voice acting even. Great job, SE.

So the collectors edition is really meh
That exact figure has been done before ages ago it’s still up on eBay and elsewhere. It has slight variation in the base but the pose is the same and seemingly similar sculpt. Like most of those CE they are usually crap unless you care about art books.
I’m excited for this on ps5, I hope they add holy knight or some new jobs but I’m hearing they are removing the online battles that were added in the previous remaster which sucks if true

Oh SE about to break the bank with this one. Just updating the visuals to be better on HD displays would of been enough, but adding voice acting and an UI overhaul is awesome. Not touching game mechanics would be even more awesome.

Yeah, i don't understand why.
Did they say it will come out at the same time of the other platforms?

The undisputed greatest game of all time*
Did you mean FFXI?
Quote: Is OG SE making a comeback????
Considering it is just trying to redo old games instead releasing a major brand new game, I would say it the opposite.
It is a red flag about how they are having so much trouble to reinvente, having to resort to a game that is already over and over being released (not as a remaster), but to the point I already played the original, the PSP version, and personally Im done with the game: both mechanical and story wise there is very little room to impress me, and potentially many others like me.

Square Enix are going full Nintendo lately, the amount of money they demand for things is insane.
By Pantafernando 2025-06-09 02:39:34
Ive just watched the trailer, I honestly was hoping they would at least drop the 2D character animation and use 3D.
But no, it the same visuals just with more polishing in the edges.
While the voicing seems interesting, the speed options is a must for modern age, I definitively dont see why I would buy it.
Only if for the sake of being a fan? Nah, as I said, I prefer more FFXI over FFT.
I would go as far as to say Xenogears is higher than FFT in my list.
By Pantafernando 2025-06-09 02:42:35
I know Xenogears remaster will never happen due to rights, but just imagine if they redo it and actually create a second disc for it, add new open world, a polishing in game mechanics
It would be game changing to place it near the best game of all time.

Btw, I must say the PSP version of FFT was amazing.
I actually sinked 200h on it to make Ramza capped in all attributes available to cap.
The endgame was awesome and the nultiplayer was great too.
If they add an online version of it, maybe I can reconsider, to play PvP or coop, it would surely increase the replay value of it

The entire industry does this, and for good reason. It's cheaper than coming up with risky new ideas, and guaranteed profits. Without these types of releases, you'd see many fewer unique titles.

You are only partially correct.
While logically makes sense investing in the less risky option, history (not me) says only companies that takes risks survive in a competitive market.
Plus, Squareenix history was always about being vanguard in many things. Every single FF brought togheter a new concept, a new mechanic from the previous titles. Not a single battle system was reused up till around FF13, that was the first installment where their broke their own rule and making a sequel for it.
So, taking risks was the main factor that made SE standout of many other companies in the genre. If you pick any top list of RPGs, you will notice the majority of titles are developed by SE.
Finally the thing is not about not taking risks, but always taking educated risks.
This seems like it was lost somewhere.

Ugh, this is *** ridiculous. AI upscaled textures and new UI = £60 plz.
I'll play it on switch emulator cus I ain't paying for this.
It is dumb that you either have to choose enhanced gfx+new UI OR old graphics and old UI. What if I want to play old UI+enhanced graphics? Would cost them nothing to have added this.
Anyway, this is a ***game compared to Tactics Ogre and Knights of Lodis. Those games are so deep in the development system like nothing has come out in the decades since as deep as this.

Same. I still have a functional PSP and a physical version. I see zero reason to purchase it. If I want to experience it again I'd just use my old PSP.

If they don't want to take risk they can make FFT2 or something. At least I'd probably consider buying it.
Buying the same game that I already owned and played is no no for me personally.
By Kaffy 2025-06-09 06:56:04
That worked for devs in the past Panta, but AAA games are so expensive now they need the sure thing to balance it out when the risky stuff fails.
FF1 of course was named because it was their last ditch effort before leaving the business, and it worked. Then the Spirits Within movie almost bankrupted the company. Enix saved Square, and so they survived again. I'm not sure a studio could survive something like that today.
Bethesda made dozens of versions of Skyrim over the years. How much of that cash cow money was spent on Starfield development and not realized as profit because the game didn't do well? Microsoft didn't even bother to get it on Xbox, which is really telling.

...It isn't just those things.
* The lighting is completely redone, making the maps look better.
* Full voice acting.
* New animated cutscenes.
* "Extensive adjustments and additions to the story."
* New difficulty modes.
* And if Tactics Ogre Reborn is any indication, probably at least some degree of rebalancing.
$50 is a pretty reasonable price for all this. Same as Tactics Ogre Reborn was. That's sub-full price even before this generation's price hikes. Plus these things are always available discounted on Steam via other retailers (-20% on GMG already, making it $40).

* The lighting is completely redone, making the maps look better. idc
idc
* New animated cutscenes. meh, idc that much even though they will be nice to see
* "Extensive adjustments and additions to the story." No, just no. A remake should not change the game.
tbf the game is stupid easy with rangers so if they can fix this it will be nice, but then it also is not the same game.
* And if Tactics Ogre Reborn is any indication, probably at least some degree of rebalancing. I want to play a remake, flaws and all. This is not the same game the second the fix anything.
By Asura.Disclai 2025-06-09 07:26:53
tbf the game is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE easy with rangers so if they can fix this it will be nice, but then it also is not the same game.
I'll be honest, I don't understand the obsession with things remaining the exact same. "It wouldn't be the same game"? Balance patches don't make FFXI a different game.
This remaster is a chance for the developers to exercise creative control and better execute their vision, both for gameplay and story.
Final Fantasy Tactics was notoriously poorly balanced. Some jobs are god mode, some are literally useless. The game offers absolutely zero resistance if the player has any clue about what's what. It had game-ending missions if a new player was unprepared and foolish enough to use one save. Meanwhile Chapter 4 is a boring slog of "kill the leader" missions which the player can one-turn one-shot with no preparation.
Rebalancing would only be a good thing (but is also pure speculation at this juncture). And a Hard mode is legitimately exciting.
I want to play a remake, flaws and all. This is not the same game the second the fix anything.
It wouldn't be a remaster to begin with if they didn't change and fix things. Good news though, the OG version is included, have at it.

Why are you annoyed by internet stranger's opinion on a game lol.
Also there are no right or wrong when it comes to opinions. If you are wrong, that's completely irrelevant to me lol. Nor my opinion on FFT will change because of that.

I know Xenogears remaster will never happen due to rights Isn't SE the IP owner? Yes, SE owns XG in its entirety. Bamco owns XS entirely. The latter just plays nice with Monolithsoft and allows usage of some of it for XB stuff.
On a related note, when SE released the Chrono Cross remaster, they put up a 1 hour or so interview on their channel with a number of folks including Kato and Mitsuda, and Mitsuda mentioned that he was surprised when he was called in to work on the music for a CC remaster before an XG remaster as he expected XG to get one first.
The real rights issue from the era for SE is Parasite Eve.

Square Enix is a complete and totally mismanaged company. I expect nothing other than for them to go bankrupt and to make bad decision after bad decision.
