Diamond Aspis Ideas

So since the Onion Sword thread seems to have run its course, let's talk about something equally stupid: Diamond Aspis skillchains on WHM.

I was trying to think about good skillchains to use the shield on, and not coming up with a lot of great ideas.

The only obvious ones I can see that might work (untested) involve the prime club, and I enjoy sleep immunity too much so I'll probably never be able to make that club. (For reference, it's Dagda alternating with either Black Halo for Compression/Transfixion, or with True Strike for Detonation/Scission. An infinite Dagda+Halo skillchain could be pretty powerful but like I said, I won't be making this club anytime soon.)

Anyone got any ideas for skillchains longer than 3 steps that don't involve the prime club?


P.S. Sadly as cool as this sounds, it probably won't be very practical because I suspect if you stop to cast even one spell you'll probably break the chain. At that point, why even be on WHM? I'm still curious what can be made to work, though.

I suspect the best practical use for the shield's skillchain effect on WHM would be to have a WHM insert a step into a long skillchain made by other people, with the WHM just being used to reset the window's duration so that the other DDs can keep it going. Like maybe you got some DDs taking turns with Aeolian Edge but after 3-4 steps they can't keep it going, so enter the WHM with a True Strike to reset the window and then you can do another 3-4 Aeolian Edges.

I think you could do:
Flash Nova -> Flash Nova = Induration -> Flash Nova = Fragmentation -> Realmrazer/Hexa Strike = Light -> Realmrazer(Aeonic Club)/Randgrith(Relic Club) = Double Light or Radiance?

One that I like to do with Maxentius is:

Black Halo > True Strike > (Detonation) > Black Halo (Gravitation) > Black Halo (Fragmentation) > Realmrazer/Hexa Strike (Light)

I mean clearly the build is Onion Sword III and Diamond aspis!

Probably sub Warrior for fencer and some sword skill and weaponskills lol

Could skillchain endlessly with Seraph Blade and red lotus blade back and forth and they both benefit from the mab on the shield!

Something stupid I have try is on THF for AoE. The magical dmg was pretty a wash with malevolence, but the combo Gandring/aspis for added sturdiness is really interesting, specially for people that might struggle. I can easily pull 6 family without PD, only issue is missing out on those 10 cures…. So I stopped because we all need more than 1000 THF cards…. Also the flee added time is nice.

Someone mentioned the SC window extension of diamond aspis doesn't work for BST pet WS. Does it work for Ranged weaponskills?

I thought they said the opposite, that pet WS wont get the extended SC window?

My understanding is the pets don't extend it but can benefit from the extended window since each time you use a ws with the shield it basically resets the SC windows back to 10 seconds and starts dropping back down from there so it still makes life a lot easier especially in underbuffed situations.

Ya if it works for ranged, ULLR PLD will have it's day! but no seriously like Ullr RDM might come in handy on a few fights where they can mostly do rdm support and then allow for much longer SCs from a safe distance.

This one looks spicy, I love it! I think you could go 1 step further with Mjolnir too, something like Halo > True > Halo > Rand > Realm > Rand. Not sure if that would actually be better, I might have to experiment with both.

Maybe I misunderstood OP. Yes, the pet will get the extended SC window, similar to anyone else doing an applicable WS within the SC window, but a pet WS done by someone with aspis wont get an extended window.

It's too bad that the Sortie club is way more useful cursed, because Dagda -> Black Halo -> Dagda would be pretty cool. Could exit the chain whenever you want with distortion to gravitation for darkness or distortion to fusion to light, as well.

Your first sentence seems to contradict your second. What's the verdict on activating vs merely participating in an extended SC window?

If you used a WS with a diamond aspis, you will create a SC window which is longer (10 seconds). Anyone can take advantage of this (by having 10 seconds to get their WS off), including pets. People taking advantage of this, including pets, won't get (create a new) and extended window.

Non-aspis ws (9s)

And so on. This includes pets and anyone not using an aspis.

Its hard to word it in so few words, but its what Maletaru said.
Think of the SC window as a debuff on the mob.

Clear answer would be nice for that, because if it resets to 10 seconds each time aspis is used in the chain you could have some pretty epic neat 2-person or weapon swap skillchains.

My mistake, I ment to say doesn't.

It's been tested and answered befor in one of the other bonanza threads. Person explained it like byrth does above, just that the WS of a pet of a diamond aspis BST doesn't get the benefit of the extended window, for the pet it counts as if a random person without shield joined the chain.

The only question still open afaik is whether a ranged WS will get benefit of extended WS window or if it works like a pet WS.

How do you mean? It's a very flexible job allowing it to do a lot of interesting things and just generally useful for testing basic stuff as they have a good deal of it within their kit
