New event. Report any drops here to start collecting data!

http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/22566/detail.html

Drops reported so far:

  • Guaranteed Lungo-Nangos Thesis each run - Spread seen from 4000-6000 Exemplar points. Must have EP unlocked to use the item.

  • Heavy Metal Pouch

  • Piece of Alexandrite

  • Bronzepiece/Byne Bill/Whiteshell

Not known if the crate chosen matters or not.

Everybody in the party gets a key item, regardless of who's orb is used. Easy way to save seals. Must be inside BCNM to get KI.

Everything gets one shot as BST in Kindergarden Cap, but the run up the hill in the BC is involved.

Isn't 5k exemplar points laughable considering how long it takes a none multiboxing player to collect enough seals for these orbs, even if it wasn't locked behind a time limited campaign?

Yes and no. A noob getting 5k in 5 minutes is worth it. They likely have seals stored on shami already.

Plus of course you can get what, 400 seals from the login campaign, so time invested is zero.

They must be present in the fight though. I just tried leaving chars outside the circle, they didnt get KI.

Honestly, if the rewards are just the EP and random REM currency, I would prefer using my points for the Kraken Club attempts

Well, yeah. It's a normal BCNM fight, it's not trove.

Bruh, I'm clarifying a statement because as it was written theres reason to believe that you could use one orb and everyone in the pt/alliance gets the KI.

Well, there's 357 days of the year you can do that instead, so

That's not saying Shami's Trove is good, just that you have 11 months of free seals and all of your other seals during that time to throw away on not getting the kraken.

Anyways, did a couple of these, heres what the loot pool looks like based on what I've gotten.

7 brown box
Slot 1 (G): Lungo's Thesis
Slot 2 (R): Rift Boulder Coffer, Heavy Metal Pouch
Slot 3 (G): Alexandrite (7), 1 Byne Bill (10), O. Bronzepiece (10), T. Whiteshell (14)

3 Gold Box
Slot 1 (G): Lungo's Thesis
Slot 2? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Slot 3 (G): Alexandrite (5), 1 Byne Bill (6), O. Bronzepiece (2), T. Whiteshell (5)

Got bored

Sample size is small, but either the boxes are just a red herring offering the illusion of choice, or their differences are found within the slot 2 higher value rewards. Took me about 6 minutes per cycle with all the zoning and mini-afk's, which also involved doing the BCNM twice per visit. Each cycle was ~5k EP, so this is something like 50kEP/hr, could probably be pushed to 60k.

If it only happens once a year, you'd hope it would be more rewarding. A few thousand exemplar points probably should have been a few thousand galli.

Maybe there actually is some "unimaginable treasure" still to be won here, but I could also be hungover from the free bonanza weapon...

I can't think of a situation or older system in the game that they have given us a "choice" before a RNGing a reward. My bet is the different chests do have a difference in reward pools, either higher probabilities for certain items, or each has a unique item only found in 1/3rd of the chests. Won't know until more data shows up.

It might be worthwhile for people who complain about how annoying getting EP is, do a couple here and there if you got 10-15 min to kill in the next week. Its still 50-60kEP/hr while having an extremely slim opportunity to get a high value item.

I also saw the Rift Boulder coffer in brown and gold boxes. So either the boxes are indeed a red herring, or the common items of drop two are spread around the three boxes and the UR stuff are dedicated to specific boxes.

Just imagine the same odds for the ultimate REM mat and for Kraken Club.

You are basically just changing the flavor of your delusion in the campaign month.

They've (allegedly) done it before - there's the persistent but never really live-proven rumor with a few corroborating screenshots that there's Cat's Eye in Campaign Festa - so really, it's not unlikely that they'd think to put 'em in there, merely so uncommon that it's not actively worth chasing.

The problem with all the photo and video AI out there, its gonna be even less believable that someone gets a cats eye or dense cluster.

Idk, the mog bonanza weapon give away seems to mark a new age of FFXI, one that they do not care about balanced progression.

One thing is considering that bonanza weapons are only marginally important to endgame.

Another complete different story is considering giving those to lv1 mules allows then to reach even reisenjima lvs at least with no effort.

So, if the rumors are true, i wont hold my breath it is barely achievable through normal means.

Also worth remembering that Kindergarten Cap, Palborough Project, and V Formation are 3 person fights. We remembered that on the April 1 event when we brought 5 people to a fight and it wouldn't let us in.

But the Spire of Holla/Dem/Mea fights are 6man, so those are the ones that will give more free EP if you're using 4-6 players and everyone has an orb.

Wonder if there's any difference in drops between the Promyvion ones and the others...
