So I was inspired by something a friend did for the Bismarck server about a year ago and created a server wide discord for all to join and make friends, connections for events, pickup groups for ambuscade or many of the other things the game has to offer. With the population of the game seemingly dwindling down, helping folks find one another seemed like a logical idea so I invite anyone on Bahamut, or anyone who transfers from another server, to join The Smokin' Fish

Also, giving credit where credit is due, thanks to Drakelth on Bismarck for making the community server on Bismarck that I'm going to try to get rolling on Bahamut.

Also, this is just a discord. I'm not asking anyone to join a linkshell. This just a place where maybe we can all get along and find people to do things with maybe while you're out killing bats or colibris and missing shouts for events you want. Thanks all

I like the idea, but just a general question. Wouldn't it be better to use a generic Discord server name like: Bahamut Server FFXI over your LS Discord server?

We already had one person wanting to make his LS a hub for every other LS and Bahamut player and we all know how it went (though, I guess it was 100% fault on how that person acted).

Gonna +1 on the new discord server with generic name. Owner should also probably be someone fairly hands off to be honest to not invite drama.

I haven't heard this story before. What happened?

Bongrippa's great people, and sees the direction even the large servers of XI are moving the past years...and adding more ways to group up is one great way to fight that trend.

While I agree a place that's nothing but drama never is a good thing for creating community- a lil' splash here and there keeps things spicy and worth paying attention to, versus such a boring place it might as well be just LinkedIn for Final Fantasy.

I agree with general name instead of LS name. Makes it more approachable and people instantly know ‘what is it’ just by its name. Vs some abstract LS discord.

Generic names are boring. I guess I could've called it Bahamut Community something or other, but meh. There's currently 32 people on the server and couple new faces show up each day which is pretty cool.

Thanks for your kind words sir. You know I'm not gonna sit there and babysit the disco like some sort of fun police and will let the drama flow to a certain extent. We (the ffxi community) are all adults, at least via our birth certificates, and know when we are saying things that are going too far and that wont be tolerated, but yea, a lil spice is ok from time to time.

This isnt a ls discord. I'm currently not a sack holder in any ls, let alone shell holder. I do use it with my sortie group atm, but this is for anyone to use and is not specific to any ls. I'm not sure who wanted to use their discord as a hub for all ls, maybe that was before i came to Bahamut, but I'm not actively seeking to have a linkshell hub. Just a spot for people who might be seeking someone for sortie, ody, dyna, ambus now, in 4 hours, tomorrow, a permanent static, etc. Or just a spot for maybe some people wanna hop on voice and shoot the ***with one another. If linkshells use it for networking with other shells or recruiting players, no prob.

Believe it or not, there is. It's a mighty fine server. Half the population of Asura, half the shouts, and 1/10th of the merc shouts.

I think I managed to answer things that were brought up. There's nothing I'm trying to gain from this outside bringing the community together as much as we can to help keep the game goin as long as it can.
