You still can buy a PC that will let you play any XBOX game, let you mod them and do even more stuff with the PC beyond gaming!

Does Afania use mods? Seems like it'd intrude on creative freedom to alter the artists' vision.

Never use mods once in my life. I don't like windower either. Personally I don't see the appeal of mod nor have the desire to do it.
But if someone wants to use mod, I don't always see it as "intrude creative freedom" personally. Modding is closer to fan art than censorship in my eyes.
Artists already created their stuff, so creative freedom is already there the moment stuff is made. And video game is an interactive medium so the users also participate as part of creation, by simply interacting with the game. Using mod, creating fan art/game or playing the game in unintended way is just part of interaction process. IMO banning this kind of interaction will ultimately hurt this industry more.
So, if someone find Kay Vess ugly and wants to create mod to make her pretty, it's perfectly fine in my eyes. If someone try to tell artist to create her differently because it's "politics", that's intrude creative freedom to me.
Edit: Oh, and I am well aware that some companies like Nintendo will prevent players from modding in a way that changes their character image too much, such as nude princess peach. That's their choice though.
There is a huge difference between creating a character that you love and see the mod community made her a ***, and a mod that simply changes UI for accessibility. The former can indeed piss off the creator, the latter is perfectly fine in my eyes. As long as it's single player game not multi-player so it doesn't affect online competition fair play that is.

I am not aware that PC has GoldenEye, a game that I really want to play for nostalgia reason....but some Google search shows that it can be done via cloud gaming.
I am not a fan of cloud gaming due to connection requirement though.
Also I have plenty of saves from Xbox 360 era on Cloud. I am not sure if PC can access them.
I don't mod, mod has 0 appeal to me.
There are plenty of older games is Xbox only, like Lost Odyssey, Castlevania symphony of night with OG texture and dialogue (not a fan of HD texture on PS4) etc. And plenty of Xbox arcade retro games like Virtua fighter 2 and Guardian heroes. I still occasionally play them on my Xbox 360.
So it looks like Xbox is still an easier solution if I want to play those older games and use my old Xbox 360 saves, ignoring the price that is.

It'll have it's story updated For Modern Audiences. Chrono's gender will be different for each time period to reflect the genderfluid nature of modern culture...

I'm scared of what that will end up being. Of all the generations of games that do not need to be remade, I feel like the SNES era just doesn't need it or work. The nostalgia effect doesn't translate when the original art and music styles were so unique, but also when recreating some aspects of the game is just so much harder with modern engines, so it ends up being more limited. It seems like some of the ones I've played, the voice acting being added just made it so weird and off putting.
I really just wish they'd leave them alone. Maybe I've missed some good ones, but all the ones I've tried were horrible.

Quote: Expedition 33 director Guillaume Broche revealed in an interview with the BBC that he decided to leave Ubisoft and create a GOTY contender purely because he was “bored” working at Ubisoft and wanted to try something new.
...
Regardless, many of the people working on the title either had no experience working in game development at all, or had very little. The team was made up almost solely of junior members.
“We have, I think, an amazing team mostly of junior people but they are so incredibly invested in the project and talented,” said director Guillaume.
Who knew that assembling a team consisting of a handful of passionate dev's instead of a bajillion woke activists would lead to a banger being made??
Well most of us knew this already.

If you're an autismo home taught developer now it's actually tough to get into the game industry, they want to hire DEI for investor reasons instead. In the past companies would head hunt anyone showing any amount of talent (many modders or hardcore players used to get hired into AAA studios, blizzard or bethesda for example), now they don't want them.
Which is why all those people are making indie games, boob mods for skyrim (and making good money doing it) or making large scale patreon supported modding projects instead.

If you're an autismo home taught developer now it's actually tough to get into the game industry, they want to hire DEI for investor reasons instead. It ain't DEI. Its corporate culture and "professionalism."
When gaming studios were lean and hungry they took chances on self educated, no credentials just a portfolio, types. Once they got big enough to hire CEOs and CFOs they started to get picky.
Software development followed the exact sane trajectory in the 8080 through 386 days, well before DEI was invented.

It ain't DEI. Its corporate culture and "professionalism." Slapping 5 extra hours of content in Veilguard because your character is trans has nothing to do with "corporate culture and professionalism".

That's not what Chanti and Radial were talking about though; focusing on candidates that are better on paper rather than taking chances is definitely corporate culture.

Are they taking candidates that are better on paper? Or are they taking candidates that fill certain checkboxes so they dont have to hear about their lack of diversity?
What I said is related to what they are talking about.

It's 2 different issues. Sandfall Interactive did amazing because they hired people who actually enjoyed the content and used a small team with no corporate culture or DEI.
Radial was talking about self taught developers not being welcome, that is due to corporate culture.
Competent [white male] developers with credentials aren't welcome due to DEI.
Either way, I don't see any evidence that Sandfall was using self-taught developers. They definitely excelled because they had a small and capable team that was likely put together based on merit.

In some cases it is just candidates from outside but even internal ones who have demonstrated their skills internally meet the need, but they would rather pay for your college than simply promote you to the role that they have 100% confidence in you performing, but it "requires" a degree.

You guys made way too much assumptions based on personal political stance lol.
Assassin's Creed games have been the same since....the first one? I played the first a decade ago and it was the same game back then. The whole gameplay is repeating the same-y quest in a big world for 18 hours.
Then Origin came out I decided to give it another try because I heard they added rpg mechanics. Welp it's still the same game with rpg mechanics. I quit after 20 hours of doing the same thing over and over. Ever since then I stopped purchasing any AC games.
Over the years whenever people reviewed an Ubisoft game people always say it's the same game using the different skin. Over and over, for many years.
It doesn't matter if Ubisoft hire dei or not. And it doesn't matter of AC shadows have a black samurai or Asian samurai. It's still the same game with a different skin.
Even if you are the most talented developer ever, once you enter Ubisoft you are going to make the same game over and over, for years.
And whenever Ubisoft tried something new and had some success, such as Prince of persia the lost crown, they'd shut down the studio because they don't want to make AA games or something.
I can totally see why Guillaume Broche said it's boring work in Ubisoft. None of what he said is relevant to politics, just personal goal. He has ideas but his idea only shines in his own company when he is the leader.
Also, if you are someone with tons of cool ideas, you are more likely to go indie eventually. It's barely a political problem. In a company you work for other people's ideas. So the only way to work on your own idea is to start your own company.

There is a difference between art role and programmer role tbh. For programmer it's common to look for people with CS degree. For art/music/writing nobody cares.....in general. Someone with a literature degree doesn't always write better than someone with another degree. What matters is if your story is good, if your art is beautiful and if your music sounds good.
I doubt Ubisoft is any different.
So... I have been increasingly frustrated with new games over years. I feel like so much effort it placed on graphics, lighting, art style, ect and maybe 10% of that effort is placed into gameplay, controls, and story.
My latest purchase was Visions of Mana, which I was pretty excited for. Secret of Mana is in my top 5 all time, I've played Seiken Densetsu 3 translated and while I didn't think it was as good as Secret of Mana, it was still extremely enjoyable. I skipped Trials of Mana since I had already played Seiken Densetsu 3. Vision is just bad. The english voice acting was awful, the characters were bland/generic or just stupid, and I was 3hrs into the game and all I was doing to running 30seconds between CS. Felt like a slightly interactive shitty anime.
Hogwarts Legacy, Visions of Mana, Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield... I felt like all of these super hyped games were absolute duds. Final Fantasy 16 is coming to PC in a few weeks and I'm not sure if I even want to try it anymore. I've heard people say not great things about it.
I know I'm just venting a bit here, but it really sucks being excited for a new game and then the crushing disappointment when it's not fun.
