I mean how many words have you typed in here? I'm just having fun with the incels while I'm on the shitter. You write novels on how straight men are being wronged so much.

I'm glad you've found you're little piece of the internet where you can be yourself though, good stuff. Let's see how long it lasts until it gets shut down.

Anyways, loaded up Expedition 33 last night before bed

The prologue is like 30 min long and I was falling asleep (personal skill issue, I underestimated how tired I was but I think I understood the story) with no opportunity to save midway through it. Interactive turn based combat is a nice touch.

Main chars jumping animation needs some work though, it looks awkward as *** lmao.

This is to balance out the snarky "bro games" that is apparently required y some on this thread for describing strategy games.

Did you get offended by the term bro games or something? Why! I thought it's a pretty manly term that promotes masculinity!

(I wasn't trolling nor say "masculinity" in a negative way btw. I thought masculinity or manly is a positive trait, don't know why it's offensive.)

Based on all of your comments, it's obvious to all that your definition of 'masculine is something offendingly negative that is required to be erased.

This hasn't worked in films, culture, games..anywhere. What we are now living in is the response to this ideology.

Your viewpoint is in retreat for anyone that wants to produce marketable product. The ideologues whose market strategy is strictly the production of slop and the tax incentives it provides are the only ones still pushing, as their goal isn't the customer, but the elites in charge of other people's money.

Wait what? When did I say masculine needs to be erased LOL. Why would I want that? Loooool.

Ok move on.

The only view point that I have in this thread is creative freedom for creators and IP owners. If creative freedom leads to games selling less, so be it. It's game companies lose money, not you.

Lakshmi.Sahzi said: »

That's what art industry is, though. Government give money to artists, artists make things that voice their message. Video game is just a form of art, or at least it can be: a medium to carry creator's message.

If you don't like government paying them, it's your freedom to vote and stop this policy. If someone else have money and want to put message in their art or games, it's their freedom.

If customers don't pay money for their art, it's their problem, not yours.

This is called creative freedom, not "woke".

See my edit above, you can always vote to stop government funding. It's your civil right.

That being said, government funding doesn't always produce bad games. clair obscur expedition 33 took French government funding too, and this one became a hit.(They just broke 1m copies sold)

So I don't think the inherent issue here is government funding, but who is using the money. I definitely agree that how the government funding is used need to be discussed by the voters though.

We did. And an unelected judiciary works endlessly so that those votes will mean nothing.

You do open up an interesting line more apropos to the thread, though: does government subsidy produce a better product?

There is no reconciliation of this answer here, however. Clearly one side defines "better" very different then the other side. Hell, we can't even agree what a "game" is (phone vs pc, for example).

This is why this thread has rolled on endlessly. It's not a conversation about product....it's always been a topic about ideology vs market, 'woke' communism vs. 'cruel' capitalism.

I'm sure we'll have all of it wrapped up soon, though.

IDK about in games but American agriculture has REALLY benefited from subsidies.

Soil health, nutrition, yield, lower water usage (individual plants AND entire farms) and less erosion. All from direct and research subsidies.

It's a question that you people will need to solve as a voter. Not something I can comment since I am not American. I can only share how other country do things.

Korean news from 2014:

https://ombudsman.kotra.or.kr/ik-en/bbs/i-465/detail.do?ntt_sn=38504

Quote:
The government will promote a plan called the Picasso project by investing at least KRW 230 billion by 2019 so that the Korean games industry can take another leap forward.

News from 2009:
https://www.gamedeveloper.com/programming/korean-government-invests-64m-into-serious-games-development

News from 2023:
https://wnhub.io/news/legal/item-42670

Quote:
Next year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea will spend 67.9 billion rubles, or about $52.5 million, on subsidies to Korean gaming companies. This is reported by the GameMeca portal.

Another one recently
https://welcon.kocca.kr/en/support/issue-focus/78

Quote:
Starting in 2025, the South Korean government will allocate KRW 15.5 billion to support the development of domestic console games.

Korean government gave tons of money to Korean gaming industry every couple of years, and that's how you get to play Korean games with hot girls.

So I don't think government support inherently leads to bad games if there are many successful games being made with this system. It's more about who got the money in the process, and if the application process is flawed.

Edit: Another example is Saudi's PIF supporting their game and entertainment sector, which we discussed pages ago. I think PIF can count as government money too.

Basically, plenty of other countries use government money to support their game industry. It's a very common thing.

I heard the united states overwhemlingly voted for certain things just for activist judges to block the will of the majority over and over.

My own country was held hostage by an activist political leader making sure a non-confidence election could be triggered because, by his own words, he couldnt stand the conservatives getting a majority govt.

This is 100% accurate. Illegal immigration, for example, is highly disapproved by the public with 59% supporting mass deportation of undocumented immigrants.

A district judge goes and blocks the deportation of even illegals who have committed series of violent crimes, with two orders of removal.

Not to mention that even the candidate that you voted for will likely break on a bunch of key promises.

Oh and btw, you may be interested in this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubisoft_Montreal#:~:text=Ubisoft%20was%20agreeable%20to%20this,neighbourhood%20along%20Saint%2DLaurent%20Boulevard.

Quebec's gaming industry support started way back in 1996, and Ubisoft Montreal was established in 1997 due to Quebec policy. Over the years they produced many successful games including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. Watch dogs also did quite well for some time.

Ubisoft decline only started in 2020-2021 and it's only their last 2 games (Star wars outlaw and Assassin's Creed shadow) got into woke controversy. They were perfectly fine before and stock price peaked in 2019.

So....is Quebec's policy a complete failure if you consider years of success and growth before 2019?? I don't know. At least it worked well for many years before people start to have problems with it.
