New games suck... or is it just me?

The same thing applies to switching male/female to A/B. It is a practically non-existant hindrance to heterosexual people and a major inclusive step for others.
If isn't for us, it shouldn't for you either Mr MA'AM. I don't identify as body type A-B, I identify as male!

The point isn't that it's a small subset, the point is trying to be as inclusive as possible. We have more handicap parking spaces than handicap people, but giving up 1 or 2 spaces to make it easier for them to get access to stores is a minor inconvenience for able bodied people and a HUGE benefit for handicapped. The same thing applies to switching male/female to A/B. It is a practically non-existant hindrance to heterosexual people and a major inclusive step for others.
The thing I will never understand is why doing something as simple as this is so upsetting to some people. I wish that most people could look at a gesture like this and go "well it doesn't EXPLICITLY help me but it does help a group of people that isn't my group so it's worth doing" but obviously there is a vocal minority refuse to give even an inch of their privilege out of some misbegotten fear or losing all of it. These people are stupid and not worth engaging with, as this thread has aptly demonstrated.
That point is it's absolute BS made up nonsense. There is not more than 2 genders. If a child keeps calling your red car a blue car, you're supposed to correct them to use the appropriote terminology to identify the object they're describing.
XY chromosome. XX chromosome.
This isn't made up words to make you feel better. This is provable repeatable science. Feelings are completely irrelevant.

Faith is actually being restored every time you tell the they-them lunatics that there are only two genders. Body type A-B only applies to blowup dolls, robots etc.

Sorry, but comparing people with non-chosen disabilities vs people that have chosen willful ignorance of biology is an argument I can't get behind. You can't turn your disability on/off or change it with moon phases or mood rings.
Personally, I think the ultimate problem is this rabid desire for "inclusivity" doesn't have a victory condition. No game will ever be inclusive enough, it's a fool's errand. Give players the tools to make whatever giga chad or xhey/xhem they want to play as.
For games with defined protagonists, or games in defined periods of time or geography, there shouldn't need to be a discussion about why there isn't representation of a certain group of people. It's as dishonest a premise as when the news tried to call Resident Evil 5 racist because you're killing nothing but black zombies (the game takes place in Africa).

I don't think that it's actually helpful to 'trans people' to encourage their delusions and send them down a path of irreversible medical damage that will not fix the underlying mental health conditions(as shown by science).
I also don't think it's particularly helpful to the extremely rare people who are actually intersex and have no choice but to deal with their condition. They probably end up grouped in with the loonies and fetishists, when they're just trying to get through their day without garnering extra attention.
Edit: Still sticking with my take from a few pages back though, seeing 'Type A' and 'Type B' on a screen isn't gonna be the dealbreaker for me on any game.

Just curious, is transgender in your region a disability? (It isn't in my region I think)
Edit: some search shows that gender dysphoria(result from uncontrollable factor) is disability in some states, not transgender(result from human decision) apparently.

According to Google AI:
"While "transgender" itself is not considered a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), gender dysphoria, a mental health condition associated with transgender identity, may be considered a disability in certain circumstances. The key distinction is that gender identity disorders not resulting from physical impairments are excluded from ADA protection, but gender dysphoria, which is a recognized medical condition, may be covered."

Yeah, I don't think transgender should be disability because it's a choice. Gender dysphoria is not a choice according to our current science knowledge.
There are also gender dysphoria people who never transition. So they are 2 different groups that can overlap, but not entirely the same.

They're related to the transgender topic. But if I dig any deeper, I think were gonna wind up in topics most people here arent ready for.
Anyways, NexusMods caved and stopped banning the Oblivion MF mod. They issued a statement that they want people to use the built in block function if they dont like certain modders:

They also gave some *** issue that the initial ban was over "a problematic modder", but they banned multiple similar mods that did the same thing, so I'm hard pressed to believe that excuses
Anyways, now the They "its not a big deal" Thems are up in arms over these types of mods not being insta banned.
Like I said a few days ago:
And once again
Not giving a ***about the small things led us to this epidemic.
Its a power grab It has nothing to do with their feelings. They want to be in power to spread their propaganda and the first step to spreading propaganda is controlling what people hear and see.

If a feminine gay man with a husband identifies as, dresses as, talks as and acts like a woman would you accommodate them and address them as feminine or would you attempt to humiliate them and call them a man?
Personally I would address them how they appear (I won't if they took little effort and it's a dude with a beard or they demand I do it in a rude way though), if someone makes an effort and in that effort you can see it's important to them I'll go along with it. Being nice to someone in relation to something that is obviously important to them is more important to me that scoring a culture war victory to someone when it's blatantly personal.
I have had friends that were gay and trans in online gaming in the past, and so if you can put a person to the issue it's harder to be mean about it I guess.
I do agree with Thorny that it can be dangerous when professionals go along with it too much (especially if they are young), and they take medications and/or have irreversible surgery. At least until the technology actually allows it to be a proper thing that actually works, but if they are all in on it then me being mean is more destructive to them emotionally and I don't want to do that to someone.

Idk, Abby in Last of Us Season 2 is not very.. realistic.
According to the games, she should be a foot taller and about 50lbs more muscle. And smaller boobs, hips and butt.
What do you mean the Abby in the game is not a realistic portrayal of a woman, period. Why couldn't they find an actress that more closely resembles the in-game Abby, if she's not unrealistic.
Abby in the game was just supposed to be a butch feminist woman, I think they wanted her to be aggressive and masculine so made her look that way to force people to accept it.
If it was a feminine woman it's hard to take that kind of character seriously, especially when she murdered joel with a gold club.

Like I said, it's not the type A-B that bothers me, it's the outcome of this direction.
I don't live in 2009 anymore. I live in 2025 and I know what happened in the past 16 years. It starts with Body Type A-B and ends at me having to kick a dude cosplaying as a woman out of the girl's bathroom cause he was creeping on my little sister.
Not a *** inch anymore!

Ok but what about the many, many cis men in general that are creeps, who rape etc. Should we stop all men from having rights? Should we delete all men from all games?

Yup, identical.
Gwendoline Christie is a great actress, but not that great.
Guaranteed she could of made it work. Big mean, angry and violent, she's done all those things and kinda towers over most people.
If they can make Tom Cruise look normal height, they can make Gwendoline Christie look like a giant.

It would be cool if we could get this back about like gameplay or something.
That Clair Obscur game looks interesting with a good spin on turn-based combat, maybe something the team who will be doing FF17 can look at.

If they are nice and respectfully then I would return the respect. If they were not respectful then they are not getting respect. If they start making demands then the gloves are coming off.

So... I have been increasingly frustrated with new games over years. I feel like so much effort it placed on graphics, lighting, art style, ect and maybe 10% of that effort is placed into gameplay, controls, and story.
My latest purchase was Visions of Mana, which I was pretty excited for. Secret of Mana is in my top 5 all time, I've played Seiken Densetsu 3 translated and while I didn't think it was as good as Secret of Mana, it was still extremely enjoyable. I skipped Trials of Mana since I had already played Seiken Densetsu 3. Vision is just bad. The english voice acting was awful, the characters were bland/generic or just stupid, and I was 3hrs into the game and all I was doing to running 30seconds between CS. Felt like a slightly interactive shitty anime.
Hogwarts Legacy, Visions of Mana, Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield... I felt like all of these super hyped games were absolute duds. Final Fantasy 16 is coming to PC in a few weeks and I'm not sure if I even want to try it anymore. I've heard people say not great things about it.
I know I'm just venting a bit here, but it really sucks being excited for a new game and then the crushing disappointment when it's not fun.
