New games suck... or is it just me?
All in all, it kinda feels like they maybe used an AI to generate the remastered models, and then didn't second check changes it made that didn't quite line up with the OG.

Ya'll find the oddest things to get worked up about. I personally think the whole non-binary gender thing is a crock of ***but I don't spend my gaming time worrying about it. I just want to swing a sword and cast magic and kill dragons.

So many mod packs are going to include new character models, fast start, character creation expansion, etc. I would literally never see the vanilla characters. I don't think using signals to judge game quality is accurate. But for players that only pick games based on ideology, I guess it can be effective for them because they care about ideology more than quality to begin with. I wonder if they would have made more money redoing Skyrim or if mods cover all that anyway?
It's possible they have a company policy that requires new games to follow certain 'modern' options when creating characters. Idk who actually wants this sort of thing, but if the rest of the game (BG3 for instance) is good...I also don't really care.
This strikes me as though they couldn't fully fit more dynamic character selections into the engine, so they just went with the simplest way of fitting into policy or avoiding controversy (internal or external) so they could prioritize other things. The rest of the game apparently treats you as male/female, so it's the easiest possible way of doing it and moving on, without going through and reworking all the character interactions. The idea that it's not important to the overarching experience is only as valid as the developers making the changes. If it wasn't important at all, they wouldn't have allocated the man power to change it in the first place. Also there better not be any dragons to slay in Oblivion, because that'd be a major impingement on the lore! Second, calling female and male body types is not centrist. It's as far left as you can get. I don't have a preference on who wins the market or power. If a male/female game win the market, great. It aligns with my personal interest. If a type A/B game wins the market, it also aligns with my personal interest. If you are like Radial, who wants the industry to crash and burn, then our interest don't align. I wouldn't stop you nor call you bigot for complaining about politics, it's your freedom. However, you also aren't contributing anything that has value that pushes industry forward either. I am pretty sure for the entire time I support creative and market freedom, as well as advocating for accurate data when people try to guess how many copies sold. not once I called anyone bigot.
