Stop using xiview if you dont know what youre doing
The number of people who blindly add old xiview files immediately after an update is too damn high.

I mean.. ive been using them for a few updates now and havent had a problem or had to change them : o
That's because there were no UI updates in those months.
There is now a new option added to the UI for Vanabout currency, if you go to check the RoE menu with an old XIview it'll crash your game. Thanks did not read the patch notes yet about the new addition to the quest menu. Got the update I needed. Quest menu opening up just fine now.

I can confirm this is also happening to me on both accounts and I do not use xiview so there is something else
If you arent using anything that would modify your interface in any way, do a check files through POL. Something is corrupted.
yeah just tried vanilla and it still did it, I am wondering if its the icons package. Did a check file nothing found
A lot of people "file check" and they check pol not xi
You did actually pick 11 from the drop down menu, just to verify. Cause like, we know exactly why the game crashes, and its having the wrong dat file for the quest menu and there aren't many reasons it can be the wrong file.

the icons package says nothing about xi view. it was just a cursor and font thing a buddy of mine made, or so he said he did

Best to delete a random dat prior to check files too, as far as I know it won't checksum all files in the install unless you do. First scan is for missing or outdated files, if it hits anything they all get checked again.
Are you using xipivot? You could have a file in there that is reapplying when you launch the game
