Honestly, in sortie, beyond 23 is where I see hate being a problem. I stopped losing hate completely by consistently doing my stuff around 20-21.

I'm not a spreadsheet guy so I go from personal experience.

Just did a quick test on this on a bee in Ceizek. Hit the bee with stun with no Enmity+ gear, bound it, and then stood first at 25.5 yalms and then 24.5 yalms. Popped on Crusade and then did all your standard RUN moves (Valiance, Vallation, Liement, One for All, Pflug, Swordplay, Last Resort, and Battuta) and one Foil.

From 25.5 yalms the bee turned to my RDM at 52% health. At 24.5 yalms the bee stayed on the RUN until death.

For another quick test I pulled a bee on RDM and then cast Regen on the RDM to get on the hate list. Popped every move at 25.5 yalms and the bee stayed put. Moved to 24.5 and a single Foil brought it over.

I think 25 yalms is the ticket.

It's 25'. Although, I should note that the distance is based on the recipient of the enmity generating action, So if you're at 30, and you cure someone who is at 20, that can still generate enmity. But if you act on yourself at farther than 25', nada.

30 is the max distance at which mobs can cast spells on players, so maybe that's why that number is sticking in people's heads?

EDIT: lol. Well, that's what I get for trying to dig up a link to the original testing before I answer(I couldn't find it anyway.) But hey, retested.

I always chalked this up to movement of the mob. Especially in laggy sortie.

Does anyone have a solid cure cheat set? looking to max cure potency and cure potency received and throw in HP+ gear for enmity control.

Martel's testing on Cure enmity split from 2019 showed how bad cure is for Enmity. Plus us reconfirming the modifier for the cure formula recently you can math out pretty easily how much enmity you'd generate from cures (which isn't a lot).

Keep in mind though, cures aren't great at building hate

Thanks for linking (and doing) the testing. For those who can't be bothered to click the link or read: a 1k hp cure 4 on just yourself is worth about 231 enmity, or about 1/7 of one flash. It's roughly a third of a sheep song, 1/6 of shield bash, or 1/12 of palisade.

It's absolutely awful for threat and almost a complete waste of time. And as i/we eluded to, this value is divided by the number of targets you have threat on, so if you're tanking 10 mobs, it's 1/10 of all those values above.

Thanks Velner. Im gonna try to replicate this in sortie to see if the hate distance works the same. Gonna use the same steps you did.

Well.. That makes my life much easier. I usually start my flash at 21 so it finishes at 20, right when I start running away again!

Thanks for sharing Sir. Taint!
