Ixion Lore and Proc Attempts
By SimonSes 2023-07-22 04:36:10
I haven't done nukes. I have done physical and magic ranged WS (two separate kills). I have also done indirect AOE nukes (main target of nuke was elemental not Ixion).

I'll try more tonight. I will try 20 yalms kill. Kite out of the area I find him and kill. Kill from the back like Botchi (lol if that works). What else should we try? Try some enfeebles on it too, when Sorti first came out and everyone was running it melee style we had a Rdm and somehow had the chest pop once and never seen it again since. Try enfeebles and killing all the fairies. And just to piggyback on my statement, around that time Seraph Blade was the main source of damage (from the Rdm), with our buffs he was doing 99k Seraph Blade's with it on the ABC Bosses so same would be done on Ixion, so maybe a possibility it could be towards light based WSs, worth a try.

A MNK spamming VS would make lots of light sc, it could be light elemental damage.
By Taint 2023-07-22 09:02:02
I just killed him 3 stepping double light on MNK. No chest.

I just killed him 3 stepping double light on MNK. No chest. What % of his HP was light damage?
By SimonSes 2023-07-22 10:53:23
Whatever damage it was from 3step light>double light, it was more than solo Mnk spamming vsmite.
By Univarsity 2023-07-22 10:54:23
I'd like to see someone try to kill it with a Light based WS, Seraph Blade, Primal Rend, Tachi Koki, Seraph Strike, Starburst, etc and let us know if it works or not. Also if using Mnk using formless strikes to kill.
By SimonSes 2023-07-22 11:04:39
It could be something stupid like hit with element of elemental closest to Ixion, that's why it might not be consistent.

I know that the Veela link with Ixion. What if Ixion needs to be killed NEAR or amongst some Veela? Or perhaps near at a special location. Is there something in the region where he spawns that might indicate this?

Just went in solo smn, killed it with volt strike. No chest. Used garuda predator claws, siren hysteric barrage, ramuh volt strike. Tried ramuh's thunderstorm. Most of the damage was from physical attacks (voltstrike, predator claws, hysteric barrage).

At least this rule out "pet dmg only"

Yea, at least rules out involving pet damage or avatar killing blow with volt strike.
My trusts were August, Monberaux, Ygnas, Quiltada, and King of Hearts. I ran in and hit it a few times with my staff because I was considering making a SC with a BP to MB off of, but decided not to.
*Edit: at one point I used mewing lullaby near the end twice because he kept using his hp restore move. I also used regal slash. Another point I had diabolos out use his blindside (physical damage) move.

Has anyone tried a 3-step with prime ws yet?
By SimonSes 2023-07-22 16:55:18
People who suggesting Prime being involved in requirements for Ixion "proc" are just joking right. SE is sometimes really stupid and completely clueless, but that would be like another level.

Tried killing with multiple (6~) DoT on it, and letting it die from DoT (falls to the ground message) but no dice. Found in Delve room with Ice/Fire elementals but pulled to hallway near boss 4 square. Did a Fusion and Induration SC with a few MB. Nothing.

Did anyone try the theory with someone casting a lot of bard songs near it or debuffing it with songs and white magic?

I fight Ixion on MNK just about every solo run I do (with trusts - Monberaux, Sylvie, Qultada, King of Hearts, Joachim).
My usual skillchain is Shijin (2000 TP) > VS > VS. Gives Radiance L.2 with Godhands. I will Tornado > Tornado as well with Footwork up. I use Aggressor + Impetus every time.
I have tried lots of stuff. Formless Strikes, different skillchains, emotes (since B has /hurray, I tried similar with Ixion, I thought I may have been on to something with /toss as it was added in the same patch as /hurray, no dice). I generally kill it where it spawns with moving it into the closest corner without elementals or veelas in it.
Not once have I got the chest. I do between 3 to 6 solo runs every week, and will generally end with F and kill Ixion last. Notably, I have never seen its horn break. One out of every three or four kills it will put up its aura but it doesn't seem to make any difference besides massively raising its evasion.
By alamihgo 2023-07-23 17:06:10
Possibly unrelated, but is Ixion's charged horn/dark aura mode totally random or triggered by some condition?

Has anyone tried loading it with debuffs / making sure theyre on when it dies? The mechanic of counting debuffs on a mob is part of FFXI lore (Delve Uragnite, Sahagin Ambu as examples).
9,10,23 all mention a RDM or Koru, 9,23 got the chest but 10 didnt. Its possible 10's Koru sucked at debuffing or debuffs wore. I doubt any of the other documented kills bothered with anything other than frailty and dia2.

Another guess: Maybe just load up on crit hit rate buffs? or specifically, load up on crit hit rate buffs and see it's horn breaks?

Maybe thats not the type debuffs needed (ie: Elemental debuffs and helix are elemental skill based, not enfeebling magic based)? Or insufficient for the quota?
I mean, if its based on certain debuff count upon death, then its possible to rule out Armaddon's kill:
I used Joachim, Ulmia and Koru-Moru, Ulmia and Koru ate it. No one moved/was knocked around/etc. after the fight started, and he never changed target off my MNK. Day didn't change, entered on Earth day, Waxing Crescent, facing West the entire time. Its entirely possible whatever debuffs Koru put on earlier wore off after he died.

At the time of death, Fetid Ixion had burn, choke, shock, bio2, poison2, cryohelix2, and indi-poison. If it was Koru-Moru, he only has access to Dia/Slow/Distract so maybe something with enfeebles vs elemental dots?
By SimonSes 2023-07-24 04:38:40
In the post from devs revealing strats for lower Sortie bosses they said a lot about repeated usage of elemental damage. They also said Triboulex is weakened by repeated usage of light damage. Maybe Ixion is something like that too. Maybe it's about quantity in short time. Maybe even it's light damage and Dia spam would work (maybe in those few kills with chests it was coincidence of trusts recasting Dia and light SCs done in the same time). One of the kills with chest was from RDM using seraph too right? I think I would go with that. Several instances of light damage in short amount of time.
By SimonSes 2023-07-24 06:15:10
We're gonna go in on alts shortly and try a few things using a full KI, any requests? Our main thing is going to be killing an elemental that buffs him and seeing if Ixion or Elementals can hit each other with AOEs.
Could be something, could be nothing but thought this was interesting:

Spam Dia II/III

Has anyone done damage primarily from behind? From Dark Ixion page:
Dark Ixion takes much less damage from the front (50-75% less) and full damage from behind it.
There are a decent amount of mechanics here which could have been "ported" to the Ixion in Sortie. Maybe something to do with his trampling or heel-kicking people. Maybe you need to dodge his kicks or position in certain ways.

Is this due a cancer or something, yes from behind was one of the first methods attempted along with crits from the front, side, rear, bursts of every element, no bursts from any element, melee only, long SC's and even pet only.

Omg! 20 most obvious things out of 1000 possibilities. IT MUST BE BROKEN GUYS!
I had a revelation last night. What if Ixion from historical greek mythology has the actual hint/ answer to proccing Ixion? See below post copy and pasted from wikipedia and my guesses at possible Ixion proc:
Ixion married Dia,[1] a daughter of Deioneus (or Eioneus), and promised his father-in-law a valuable present. However, he did not pay the bride price, so Deioneus stole [2] some of Ixion's horses in retaliation. Ixion concealed his resentment and invited his father-in-law to a feast at Larissa. When Deioneus arrived, Ixion pushed him into a bed of burning coals and wood [3]. These circumstances are secondary to the fact of Ixion's primordial act of murder; it could be accounted for quite differently: in the Greek Anthology (iii.12), among a collection of inscriptions from a temple in Cyzicus, is an epigrammatic description of Ixion slaying Phorbas and Polymelos, who had slain his mother, Megara, the "great one".
Ixion went mad, defiled by his act; the neighboring princes were so offended by this act of treachery and violation of xenia that they refused to perform the rituals that would cleanse Ixion of his guilt (see catharsis)[4]. Thereafter, Ixion lived as an outlaw and was shunned. By killing his father-in-law, Ixion was reckoned the first man guilty of kin-slaying in Greek mythology.
This act alone would warrant Ixion a terrible punishment, but Zeus took pity on Ixion and brought him to Olympus and introduced him at the table of the gods. Instead of being grateful, Ixion grew lustful for Hera, Zeus's wife, a further violation of guest–host relations. Zeus found out about his intentions and made a cloud in the shape of Hera, which became known as Nephele (from nephos "cloud") and tricked Ixion into coupling with it. From the union of Ixion and the false-Hera cloud came Imbros or Centauros, who mated with the Magnesian mares on Mount Pelion, Pindar told, engendering the race of Centaurs, who are called the Ixionidae from their descent.
Ixion was expelled from Olympus and blasted with a thunderbolt [5]. Zeus ordered Hermes to bind Ixion to a winged fiery wheel [6] [7] that was always spinning. Therefore, Ixion was bound to a burning solar wheel for all eternity, at first spinning across the heavens, but in later myth transferred to Tartarus [8]. Only when Orpheus [9] played his lyre during his trip to the Underworld to rescue Eurydice did it stop for a while [10][11].
[1] Cast Dia on Ixion (Dia 1? Dia 2? Light Shot?)
[2] Steal, Mug, or Despoil the Horse?
[3] Craft near Ixion... so he can be pushed in?
[4] Cast onto Ixion, Cure, Erase, Viruna, Esuna, Holy, Holy II?
[5] Have a BLU use Thunderbolt (Learned from behemoth) on Ixion
[6] Cast the elemental wheel in order on Ixion starting with Fire (Fire > Water > Thunder > Earth > Wind > Ice)
[7] Cast the elemental wheel in order on Ixion ending with Fire
(Water > Thunder > Earth > Wind > Ice > Fire)
[8] Cast Banish on Ixion to banish him to Tartarus...
[9] Equip an Orpheus Sash While playing a harp song near Ixion
[10] Sing a song while engaged on Ixion using a harp
[11] Sing a song debuff on Ixion using a harp
Please let one of the above memes actually be the answer.
Happy (proc) hunting
