I was browsing the official JP forums and a few folks are going back forth about reducing the re-use timer of Warp Ring from 10 minutes down to 3 minutes:

They've got something like 8 likes for it and 4 likes against it. The proposal doesn't matter to me either way, but as they discuss the effect of 3-minute recast Warp Ring, on Warp Cudgel and Black Magic spells Warp and Warp 2, I think to myself:
Where's the like-minded NA or EU Player solidarity? On what topics can we band together and get SE to notice us and address our concerns collectively?
While I doubt enough people would unsub for a month, a thought did occure to me: If enough players could gather together around a cause, we could just all simultaneously /logout for a 24 hour period, what might SE's response be? I'm just not sure what the cause would be. What response could we actually sustain?

If enough people unsubscribed for a month, I think it would be the opportunity SE was looking for to take the game down.
You'd also need a cause everyone cares about, that can actually be addressed. Logging out for a day isn't likely to do much besides upset other players who wanted to do things and didn't care enough about your cause. JP have very limited ability to influence SE, NA/EU have essentially none.

I can really appreciate the desire for FFXI to be a better game, but I don't really think there's even any developers left to give a crap. The game is an after thought now, better get used to it.

I like where this is going... maybe since the focus this quarter has been new weapons and weapon skills we can ride the hype and get SE to buff some of the underperforming outdated weapon skills like savage blade and trueflight.

The thing about FF Online official forums is that SE doesnt care. If you go to the FFXIV forums you will see the same thing in the non-aria forums: people proposing ideas and no feedback or anything. I have even see people flaming (no bad ofc) each other and there are no mods. Maybe SE actually see the forums, but don't do anything so people feel they are talking to deaf ears.
Now, that out of the way, I really support stuff like "don log in 24 hours" or to just mass create threads on the official forums. Not because "all protests are right" (lol, they are not) but it is a way to force them to see the feedback of the community "Dont log in for 24 hours" is a stupid boycott that does nothing. They've already got your money for the month.

But from everything I see you post regarding SE and SE employees and budgets etc, it just makes me feel/think you have never worked in a company or been exposed to economics, business etc. If the management aren't investing in FFXI, it's because they have access to information, data, insights that deter them from investing further. They want to make money. More money. That's where their investment money and resources go. If they pull resources off FFXI, it's because those resources probably aren't covering their costs (salaries). It's a company. It works on returns,margins, profits, efficincies, productivity, cost-per-employee, revenue-per-employee, EBITDA, FCF, etc... it doesn't run on "this game 21 years old loolz"

This is coming from someone who loves FFXI, and hates SE:
If you want to blame someone for SE's lack of investment in FFXI, blame the player base. If more people subscribed, that would mean more money/revenue, which would in turn result in them paying attention. I wasn't joking when I said unsubscribing on a massive scale would probably be the final trigger they needed to just pull the life support off FFXI. well at least there's Horizon private server lol. Crazy how when trump was president FFXI was amazing and now that Bidens prez we got down hill trash...
