Apparently a stronger version of Steamdeck, that runs Windows 11.

Anyone have one and tried it with FFXI?

I have always been tempted to get one mobile device such as streamdeck, GPD and even this latest Ally.
The pull back which I always always have is without physical keyboard (KB).. and i really can't imagine without using a KB to play.

Anyone know if this can slot in sim card? didn't google it yet.

I don't know about this one but on Steamdeck you can connect sim cards for more space, connect it to a monitor, connect a mouse, connect a bluetooth keyboard etc

Seems a bit pointless to connect all that to a mobile device but you can still do it.

It looks really cool and it will probably be more powerful than the Steam deck to no surprise. After all the Steam Deck has some age already, technology waits for no one.

What really surprised me was the price, I thought it would be far more expensive. Do anyone remember the "Steam machines"? I neat idea ruined by far over priced products.

And the idea of it running Windows 11, not a fan (I still use W10 and will probably only leave when they force me) but you can also do it on the Steamdeck. Yes, on the Steamdeck it is more complicated to install FFXI, specially if you don't have it on Steam, but lets be honest: install FFXI is one of the most tedious and complicated stuff you can do. Install another SO on the SteamDeck it is just a warmup

Steam deck does not have a sim slot. It is wifi only. Dunno about rog.

The other issue can be easily solved with a Bluetooth keyboard. On my deck, I use the foldable one targus makes. There are knockoffs as well.

sim is a card used for recognition by over the air networks, so you can put the device on a mobile plan and have internet (basically) everywhere, not a storage slot

though i guess there's always phone tethering

Really when you think about it... what benefits are there for using this over a nice gaming laptop? I just think of the places I would typically use a handheld device like steam deck or switch and in the majority of those times I could just play on my laptop.

I do travel a lot but on a plane the wifi isn't really stable for XI play and depending on your seat size you could be gaming on a nice tablet instead. Just finding less reasons for handheld systems these days, but that could just be a personal preference thing.

I own a deck and I've had the same thought. It was a gift so there's that. However, handheld is sometimes more comfortable than using a lap or a table. It's less awkward on a couch for me. Overall small ups and downs.
