For Rank 3, if you have (or plan to have) a crafting shield, getting a torque for subcrafts be a worthwhile endeavor to get better HQ rates on the new limbus armor? (or would advanced synthesis support from the subcraft suffice? or do you need both?)

PSA Use 72 subcraft 122 main craft for this gear and you HQ2 often (Don't pay a lot of gil)

But that flies against the accepted knowledge of how HQ tiers work.

Quote:
Chances of high-quality tiers:
Once the game has decided that your synthesis will be a high-quality, it will determine the high-quality tier. The benefit of this once again depends on the synthesis, as certain items (namely consumables like bullets or food) gain a boost in quantity while others have no change in results or only one HQ result. Craftskill plays absolutely no bearing on this calculation.

The chance of the HQ being a HQ1 is 12/16
The chance of the HQ being a HQ2 is 3/16
The chance of the HQ being a HQ3 is 1/16
For crafts with only 1 HQ, this check is irrelevant and may not actually be performed.
For crafts with no HQ3 but an HQ2, the ratio may be slightly different depending on the implementation SE used.

This just means that SE has reached the limit of previously established parameters. SE will have to expand crafting in some way in the future to create a path forward. It could be increasing crafting to 2 (or more) 110 crafts per character, increasing sub-crafts beyond 70, increasing the 40-levels to distributed above 70, etc etc.

My presumption would be the subcrafts are at 61 (and the mains at 111?)

So that would get you from roughly ~1.5% HQ rate to ~6% HQ rate.

So for 100 synths:
T0: 1-2 HQ, usually 0 HQ2+
T1: ~6 HQ, which should be 1-2 HQ2+

So getting more HQ = more HQ2+

Or maybe synths with the KI behave differently.

It seems like there's some new knowledge that was previously unknown to the community, because there was no reason to care about it.

IMO: You can HQ anything that's T0, but only achieve HQ1. If you want HQ2/HQ3, you need to be T1.

The new recipes are, IMO, level 60 in their respective subcrafts.

This effectively means you need 71 skill to achieve an HQ2/3, which are the +2 armor.

I can't think of any other recipes where HQ tier matters prior to this. Su5 weapons & JSE necks were ~55 subcraft, so it was T1 without a maxed subcraft.

So all you need to do is use 1 of the subcraft gear?

If you have your subcraft capped, yes.

My Mahogany Pole synths support the "Tier 0 cannot HQ2/3" rule. I make Mahogany Poles and NPC them (come to my "making mog gardens work 4 u" TED talk). The recipe is level 68 and my highest woodworking level is 70. I have made 56 Mahogany Pole +1s and they were all Tier 1 HQs.

Kind of wild that no shield crafter noticed this before now.

Perhaps this is common knowledge but since it’s not often mentioned, I’d like to point out that beyond the rank of Expert, there are several (in .dats) that have never been implemented: Authority, Luminary, Master, Grandmaster, and Legend.

I completely forgot about this! Thanks for sharing!

You forgot the part about losing 15k tokens and wasting 30 minutes because an order lamp floor popped up when you still had 5 minutes in the area.

Nyzul would get bumped from E- content to B+ if tokens were awarded on portup instead of on exit, or give you the ability to exit the area without completing the floor. Limiting order lamps to 3 (or atleast capping it to party size) would raise it to A-, getting rid of order lamps entirely would raise it to A+. But most of my ire is knowing you have to abandon 15% of the allotted event time, as the reward gets greater, because bad luck can cause you to lose it all.

I was getting 15-20 floors a run solo on BST max movement speed /dnc, and spamming cricket AOE. Order lamp floors took me about 3 min on average to clear once I figured out how to actually do them. I think you ran Nyzul with me when I was finishing my mythic staff for SCH. The order floors are a free "give me" when you dont have party members freaking out and having panic attacks *** up your communication and ruining the run.

Torques are a grind, but I would always take "unique lockstyle piece you can't get elsewhere" over them. But I'm a Karakul Cap stan.

Took me like an hour-ish to get each of my two casket items? (Ordelle's and Horutoto], Chocobo Rope and Fishing Torque respectively.) THF, build TP on one or two trash, train the whole place and Aeolian Edge. (Have to be THF to be able to Skeleton Key for infinite hints just in case, because it will cost significantly more time if you whiff one of the not-100% caskets with the item than being BLU gains.)
