Crep/Twilight can be mixed to receive the Reraise effect.

Crepuscular Cloak can drop in trove while the detritus or cats eye can not afaik.
I don't know the prices on your server but my gut feeling says you can buy a trove cloak for less than what the alexandrite stage of a mythic would cost.
The question is do you still need a mythic to improve one of your jobs. Never owned a cat's eye so can't comment if the info on wiki is valid.

You can see people trying to sell it from a trove drop somewhat "frequently". I'm convinced if you'd make a thread to make it known that you're in the market for cloak you'd have one within a month.

Meanwhile twilight cloak will do.

I feel like Nyzul skip is always the rank 2 choice, its sendable and everything else can be obtained a lot easier and in less time relatively. You could argue for the c. cloak and mail but really there are alternatives that work fine. Skipping literally 7+ hours guaranteed of work because its a slog boring event where you just kill fodder, I can't see a better choice.

I don't think the debate about r2 is all that clear cut. Say alexandrite is 300k/stack, that's 90m for a mythic, roughly, meaning you're equating (with good nyzul runs) 7h = 90m. You make 13m/hr? Doing what activity?

Now, for some people gil isn't valuable anymore, but for the person who has 0 mythics (or very few, to the point that they want/need to skip part of it), gil is very much valuable, especially when they still need to buy beitetsus and swarts.

Now granted if it's on a mule you can't take cats eye, but you could make the same argument for the "buyable" stuff like crep cloak. If it sells for 100-200m (idk, nobody sells that ***on Carbuncle), then it seems clear that unless you're making 15m/hr, nyzul isn't the best skip.

95% of the people here probably wouldnt sweat 60 million gil vs doing 10 hours of Nyzul. And no, "wouldnt sweat" does not mean "give it away for nothing".

Anyways, selling 22+ (the + is previous months potential overstock) stacks of alexandrite every month is annoying, alongside the 12+ 100 pieces, 9+ stacks of bayld, 6+ stacks of Beitetsu, 1+ stack of HMP, 4 dross, 4 cinder, 6+ stacks of boulders, 6+ stacks of pluton, and if you get that much HM/GA, the 4 marrows and 2 scoria. Thats a lot of auction house managing. Take a bit of the pressure off and give the shinies to the stupid rat instead.

I think I've seen maybe 2 Cloaks being shout sold during free campaign and I wasn't monitoring shouts constantly. Prices for this and similar items (crep dagger, helm and armor) seemed to be somewhere between 25-50 mil if I'm not mistaking.

Now you're looking at it at a gil/hr perspective. Lets factor time in. Gonna use Asura price values, but it may differ by server.

Your average Ambu takes about 10 minutes from entry to KI re-acquisition, is that a fair assessment? If you do nothing more than one VD ambuscade per week with seal, you'll get 43200 HM and 18000 GA per month (presuming VD with a full pt). For 40 minutes a month, you'll get:
1750 Alex from HM (26250 HM, to turn in)
3 Riftdross (13500 HM, 1.2 mil)
172 Bronzepiece (3440 HM, 688k, obviously sell as a Silverpiece)

450 Alex from GA (6750 GA, to turn in)
1 Riftdross (1500 GA, 400k)
1 Riftcinder (1500 GA, 300k)
90 bronze (1800 GA, 360k)
90 Byne (1800 GA, 342k)
90 Shells (1800 GA, 315k)
15 HMP (2800 GA, 560k)
1 Beitetsu (1/10300, gotta start stockpiling for Oboro)

With your 4.1 million gil from selling extra Ambu loot, you can buy another 10 stacks of Alexandrite and have some extra to homepoint around. So every month, for 40 minutes of effort, you can get 3190 Alexandrite. Sure, it'll take you 10 months to finish, but if were trying to value someones time spent overall, 400 minutes of quick Ambu for alexandrite >>>>> 600 minutes of boring as *** Nyzul.

Furthermore, I highly doubt someone whos in such a position that they need to consider taking Cats Eye for financial reasons would be in a position to finish their mythic and get the 10k beitetsu and 6 stacks of Swarts within a week either.

I would get Crep Cloak because I'm burned out on over 500 VD Shinryu without drop, and the only 2 times I've ever seen a Crep Cloak sold on Asura it was ~200m

With that said, I don't want/need any other mythic.
If I did, I would totally support Ninja's and Draylo's reasoning.
Skipping Nyzul is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than skipping Alex, imho.

At least that's what I think in general.
I have a few LS mates who had accrued so many nyzul points they had enough for a plethora of mythics.
Also I guess Nyzul is a bit less bad when you have a Mule.
That way you use the mule's points to go up and your main gets full points.
What really kills my motivation is that even if I do 9k or 10k nyzul runs solo, then I have to remove 1900 points from each run because that's how much I spend to go up.
If you have a Mule to do that instead well... nyzul accruing suddenly becomes much faster I suppose.
