thats good to know, you guys split up at the start I assume?

We do H at the start then split up with Cor doing B, Geo doing A, Rdm/Dnc C and Pld/Brd D. Then D,A,B,C,Botulus,E,Aminon,F,G
If you do this then any time someone is away for the day you can only pug someone with D KI already?

That is true but our main group has been together for years working on 5th Stage 5 so having a fillin doesn't happen often for us. But for most groups who have people go in and out should do a different path

Yeah our route does not start with D or H to make it easier to get a replacement.

My groups been trying an A>AMINON>E>DCB>GHF route without anyone splitting off and we're hitting a wall unfortunately on time. I think its our aminon kill speed, the dnc on average is 70% of aminon but we do get around a 10 minute kill. I thimk we either need to split for temp items upstairs or find a way to get our kill.speeds down to 6 minutes

To do more than 9/9 you really need to get your Aminon kill under 6 min. Our kill time was 4:38 last night and we had to slow down twice due to TP drains hitting 300+. I'll get the parse later if people want it. We pretty much always have a fill in so our route ends at Aminon.

Interesting to see how other groups' damage splits are.

Ours was something like 50+% dnc, then cor and geo, then rdm, brd and pld. Geo with a good OA and aspir set can WS every couple seconds indefinitely. Rdm too but they have other things to do also.

Sometimes brd ahead of rdm, sometimes rdm a bit higher depending on who was on rdm.

For a 9 boss aminon run what kind of dps do you want to see out of each job on aminon? Is there a generally acceptable amount or percentage?

Either or. We also don't split up since I'm triple boxing MNK GEO COR which would make it hell on me to try running 3 characters in 3 different directions, lol. Our Aminon kills are about 5 mins and we typically have only 1-2 mins left after a 9 boss.

I'd love an in depth breakdown of your groups runs, since that's an extremely unorthodox strategy

You actually have one posted down in the thread, its one of the reasons I asked when I saw your dnc was 34%. What kind of absorbs do you generally want to see? I assume to low is also an issue

Once the initial debuffs are landed, RDM doesn't have much to do at all though besides DD. It should just be a constant cycle of absorb/aspir/impact/thunder5 as needed.

300+ is our red flag. Otherwise we are going all out. If we see an absorb for 300 we just wait for a couple absTPs to go off. DNC never stops. If you see a 380 you need to hard pause for a full round. All our DDs sit in STP gear with little to no DT.

4:38 kill

DNC: 1911394 34.8%
COR: 1264593 23.0%
BRD: 844395 15.4%
RDM: 687778 12.5% (fill in)
PLD: 417022 7.6%
GEO: 333892 6.1%

Decided to try a "solo" SAM on Aminon for fun for today's run since our 2nd MNK was gone. "Solo" since the THF got 6 WSs in, but the rest was just the SAM. It went alright. Ended up being a 5:30 kill.

Nah, far from it. We failed to get Botulus metal, tried E boss without it and had 5 deaths, lol. Had a couple other issues arise as well, but I think if none of those things happened a 9 boss was a possibility. I was asking myself what I could replace the THF with to make it a more reliable 9 boss setup, though. THF wasn't part of any real strategy, it's just the person's only job.

SAM/DRG THF/DRK BRD/DRK COR/DRK RDM/DRK BRD/WHM (still think he should do RDM/WHM BRD/DRK, but he doesn't want to)

Do we know Aminon's actual evasion value? If not I'll probably do some testing after the 25th of this month.

This source lists Aminon's evasion at 1774.

This still puts a lot of Aminon groups to shame that use the "optimal" setup.

I expect we'll see people copying this successful now that its been done

Probably not
Sterk is our only hope
Maybe the JP community

Good luck with that
NA players only copy established setups

Ask a COR do something besides
Chaos Roll / Samurai Roll

Deer in the headlights reaction

This is one of the most braindead takes on the planet.

You say "NA players only copy established setups" in response to someone saying that players are gonna copy a setup that was shown to be successful. Yup, nobody's going to copy them because NA only copy people.

Then "Ask a COR do something besides
Chaos Roll / Samurai Roll

Deer in the headlights reaction" in a thread where CORs are doing Tactician's & Miser's rolls for THE established setup, & Bolter's roll about 200 times. I guess maybe you don't spend a lot of time in Sortie...?

Hell I am a bit luckier since I'm in the same shell as sterk and run ody with him but I'll be picking his brain and looking to copy. I think this could be an easier transition from 8 boss to aminon and 9 boss runa for mosy groups.

I've only done SAM once so far, but personally I'm more of a fan of our 2x MNK setup than SAM as Aita was a little more annoying to kill without Yaegasumi (I used my 2 on Aminon and Gartell). For those that are curious on trying SAM Aminon out, though, I was using a bit of a funky-looking TP set which was this:
ItemSet 400561
I didn't bother putting any Subtle Blow in my WS set, but looking over my Absorb returns, it's honestly probably a good idea to throw in a little bit. Maybe even just Peiste Belt +1 and a Chirich Ring +1. High augmented Mpaca Hose can work also. If your /WHM has enough Master Levels, Auspice wouldn't hurt either.

Sorry I cannot find the post where it says the max weapon skill distance for Aminon.

I only saw someone mention steps can be done at 5.1 yalms, is it the same for weapon skill?

Depends on your race so need more info. I have found that WS and step range are the same for me though, or at least both are satisfactorily outside of melee range. Don't use distance addons so I can't even tell you the number for taru even if I wanted to, sorry.
