So... American cars measure engine displacement in Cubic Inches for years and year, but now it's predominantly in Litres.
(Displacement = Bore x Stroke x # of Cylinders, for the auto-impaired)
Even Harley Davidson, like the most "American" flag-hugging company anywhere measures displacement in Cubic Centimeters.
I'm thinking that mostly it's because the numbers sound a lot bigger that way.
1 in^3 = 16.39 cm^3
What do the other people think?

There would be no real disadvantage of converting to the metric system in the United States. It would just take time for people to get used to it. It's really not that hard.

I could find out. Funniest thing about it is that I wouldn't be surprised if Ford's plans are all in "standard" units, then they measure the displacement in Metric. I took a water pump off an '83 S-10 Blazer once that had 1/2", 9/16", 13mm, 14mm, and 15mm bolts on it.
Would be nice to be only needing one set of tools...

Figured out why people want America to switch to their standards.
Its so they could get better and we would get worse, its like leveling the playing field for them. Always is better for the people who suck, but it sucks for those who are the best.
