Bang not always happening when there is a LT loaded in a box somewhere in the arena is probably "working as intended"

Kinda feels like there's just a chance that bang message can happen from the 3rd open chest onward if there is a LT somewhere. When it does happen, it keeps happening until you open the LT or die, but its not guaranteed to happen at all.

I made it to 8/10 chests remaining on a mars orb and one of the last two turned gold (not rainbow). It was a Thud.

Belligerent seems guaranteed on Venus if loud is present and rare on mars.

So the guarantee from 8 successful boxes is either a Thud (Gold) or Loud Thud (Rainbow). Has anybody not seen an upgraded chests after successfully opening 8 in a row?

It's always gold or rainbow after 8.

When we enter Trove, I think we get one of several 'presets' based on roll when you trade the orb:

Ultra rare - One rainbow chest revealed on entry, or

Very rare - Beligerent Bang proc, or

Standard - The usual



I think the BB works in a similar fashion to the 8th chest proc, however the chest that is forced to LT is not 'revealed'. Probably not useful to most people since I assume that most of us use the 'LT or bust' strategy. Do we really need to be told that there is treasure in the treasure chests? We were going to keep looking for it until we found it or found the mimic anyway. Thanks for the encouragement I guess?


Also, what makes people think that all of the chests are predetermined? I would think only the mimic would be predetermined and the others would be rolled for value unless forced by BB/8th chest mechanic...?

I'm pretty sure someone in this thread reported not getting either after 8.

Well to be more accurate I've cleared 8 10+ times and it's always changed to gold or rainbow. It's to the point I would be totally shocked if it didn't happen.

I wonder what their other chests were like. Perhaps they reached a limit for the orb on Loud Thuds, etc.

Can confirm this is not the case.

Yeah, I always thought that rolling each chest seemed likely. With Venus Orbs having a higher % chance of the chest being Thud/Loud Thud than Mars Orbs.

Though, Belligerent Bang and the rainbow chests seem different. Maybe those just randomly assign a particular remaining chest a 100% chance of loud thud.

Rainbow chest is always Loud Thud. Rainbow chance has a chance to spawn at start as one of the chests, or dynamically replace bronze chest after you open 8 chests. It's pretty simple really.

Bang always shows that there is a Loud Thud chest among remaining chests. There is only a chance for this hint, even if there is some Loud Thud in remaining chests.

Edge scenario:
You will get a Bang msg, but you open all remaining chests beside Loud Thud and Mimic. What might happen then is Loud Thud bronze chest to be replaced with Rainbow Loud Thud chest or even with Thud gold chest and you might lose a chance for double Loud Thud (assuming you would open Loud Thud bronze earlier and still push to 8 opened to spawn rainbow Loud Thud), or with very bad luck you can possibly (cant verify if Loud Thud chest can really be replaced by Thud gold chest) end up with no Loud Thud at all.

This is the reason BB doesn't proc the center chest. If there were a LT in the outer chests that would be replaced by the 9th chest event, it just populates the center.

Perhaps the BB has something to do with position of mimic from the chests you're opening.

Minesweeper. This was my original thought, mimic bangs if you're one away. But I haven't bothered to do any to see.

So I did about 60 orbs, 50 mars, 10 Venus and I only saw the rainbow on Venus. I got 5-6 BB notices but got THWACKED on 4 of them. The 2 I didn't die on did yield a LT.

The rainbow chest I had was already showing when I ran up during my Venus Orb. It didn't pop.

Just adding my results if it helps in any small way.

Already tested using both the mimic and the LT as the 'mine'. There's no correlation between the message and your proximity to either.

Is Tartarus Platemail the rarest drop from AMAN? I've seen pretty much everything except that, maybe it's a specific Venus drop or at least has a higher chance from that orb.

Got 3 Tartarus on Mars Orbs last year. Only saw 1 Omen Body tho.
Doesnt feel like the rarest to me :s

I've dropped at least 2 of them and have never seen an omen body on a personal orb.

Last few days I've got 2 Udug Jacket, 1 Shamash, 1 Dagon, 3+ regal hands. No Tarty though. Just random then.

While its no confirmation, non-BBs were one row of 5 chest and the LT was in the opposite corner of the last popped chest. BB stopped after opening the LT.

Also anyone notice that Rainbow LTs seem to give out better rewards than brown box LT?

I haven't seen any evidence of this. The rainbow color just tells you it's a Loud Thud, but its the same Loud Thud quality of rewards as the brown boxes.

Ok, just my RNG luck i guess. After my meager sample size of around 55 Venus orbs, regular LTs have given me omen crafting mats, void pieces, and nq cursed gear. While my 5 Rainbow LTs gave me Tartarus, Girru, Malignance, Sroda Tathlum, and Volte body

I have gotten Voidpieces from both Rainbow LT and Normal LT. Idk, I guess I should partially retract what I said based on a review of my own results.

Looking at my drops, I can kind of see Rainbow LTs have given me the better quality of items, but in my specific case, we're talking about Cagliostro's Rod, Void items, Vexed Double etc vs Vrikodara Jupon, 2 Pulse weapons, Void items, etc. So "quality" is kind of a loose term here. And my sample size is like around 17 orbs between ~Venus and the rest Mars, so not high at all.

I mean, it could be true, but unless people are tracking a ton of data on Normal LTs vs Rainbow LTs (I don't have the time or care), I don't know if we would ever know this for certain.

No BBs were there, because BB can only start after opening 3 chests.

Has anyone with a larger sample size been able to track how many refreshed Mars/Venus Greyson gave them back from a turned-in used orb? I am at around ~25+ orbs returned to Greyson and he has not given me a new orb in return. The rate seems incredibly low.

not really a large sample size since i didn't do most of my mules or stock orbs prior to update, but throwing in 2/49 fwiw(all mars)

Also going to add this meaningless data in case it becomes relevant later on:

After opening 8 in a row, I have gotten a Rainbow Chest (LT) 6 times, and a Gold Chest (T) 1 time.
