Just killed Venus Orb mimic, no changes from last patch, was worth a try

It's not even just that. . . the fact that the devs are just handing out high-end gear with zero effort just feels. . . wrong.

And obviously they were already doing that with Trove to an extent, but the high-ticket items before were different. They were extremely rare drops that are associated with content that was primarily farmed for other reasons and as an added bonus each time you do the content you have a lottery shot for one of those extremely rare drops. And AMAN gave everybody a few more dips in that pool per month. No big deal.

But Shinryu is only farmed for Crepuscular gear. And his gear still has relevance. And I don't understand why they're just giving it away. I hate it.

#1 appears more trustworthy to buyers as he thinks the seller is risking that the buyer disbands inside to open chests and run off with the loot. for a unsuspecting buyer there is no reason to decline the offer to pay afterwards, only once they are aware that it can work against them.
#2 has open questions that need to be answered befor determining wether it can be done without getting busted or not.

Because if they were to do something (fix the BCNM), they'd have to admit they made a mistake. So instead, their fix to bad drop rates for you and anyone else (me) who farmed hundreds of these and not much to show for it, is to give these items out arbitrarily. Totally backwards.

It's such bad design. . . this will take it from a sparsely run HTBF, which is sparsely run due to their own bad design, to a dead one. And the fixes are so easy. . . lower the merits and/or change the drop table and people will be enjoying the content they designed instead of abandoning it. It makes no sense.

None of this matters; what matters is that in practice the trade is always done before the entrance because that's what the orb selling procedure has been standardized as.

True, there are only three instances. But couldn't they conceivably fix that? I know they say they *can't* but that's just their go to when they mean to say they won't.

The real reason why they will never fix Shinryu is because it would have a finite lifespan. If they make the drops close to Odin or even Lilith or slightly better, so many people will spam it and eventually get the items and be done with the content forever. And it will be dead content, never to be repeated. Just look at the long list of HTBFs that never get touched. AAEV is so lonely out there by herself. They have to make monthly ROEs for you to even remember those BCs exist. Same with Besieged, Campaign, etc.

Shinryu was relatively dead content before the update because of how frustrated people got from it, but it was also ignored content because nobody saw the gear from it. You would be hard pressed to see someone who actually had the cloak before today. It was like an urban legend, out of sight, out of mind. Nobody ever cares if you can't see what you don't have. Now, people are gonna be showing all the Crep stuff they got recently (already are on screenshot). So by arbitrarily giving these items out, it serves as temporary advertisement so people either rush the AMAN trove for some shinies (and then get frustrated when they don't get the cloak or knife they wanted) or they bite the bullet and say "damnit, let me go do some shinryus and get this damn [item], everyone has one but me". Brilliant finesse game they are running.

I lost count. I did a ton of VE/E and never saw anything besides accessories. Started lowmanning hundreds of VD, and never saw anything besides accessories. I am sure a lot of people have done shinryu in the hundreds. They can track how many items are push to actual players vs how many people are doing it. Throwing these items into AMAN Trove is their way of artificially inflating numbers of these items across servers. There is zero chance they will ever fix shinryu, this WAS the fix.

Good god. I tried to play catch up with the thread but these dim-witted questions about someone scamming people through selling orbs has made this thread unreadable.

People won't do this in general unless they're HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. A buyer will possibly buy many orbs from you in one session if you have them. Why the hell would someone do this for 1-5m versus getting 10+ in one go?

Another easy solution to why SE would divert people to AMAN Trove to get (intentionally) extremely rare drops: it doesn't cost you extra money to farm merits and enter a BCNM. It does cost you extra money to buy extra character slots or accounts for more AMAN orbs every month. And even if you personally aren't buying more characters to farm orbs, or you're buying orbs with gil: someone in the chain is.

FFXI has what I'd call a covert cash shop. You can't buy skins and mounts, but you can buy extra loot and access to more content.

The people who keep posting about it… Is there any way to get a refund for the time spent scanning through those worthless posts?

Have people actually tried Shinryu since update.

Why would they invest the time in it, especially now? Beyond the accessories, it just isn't worth the time. That's why most people avoided it after the merit change.

Summary for A.M.A.N changes if someone is looking for it:

- "Belligerent Bangs" msg shows after opening 3 chests. It tells, that there is Loud Thud among remaining chests
- If you open 8 bronze chests, one of the remaining 2 turns to rainbow(loud thud) or gold (thud) and other one is mimic.
- Rainbow chest (loud thud) can also randomly spawn at start instead of one of the bronze chests
- Chat now shows noise/thud/loudThud description for middle coffer
- Can trade used orbs back to Greyson. Possible rewards include orange/apple juice, Copper Voucher, SP Gobbie Key, recharge for traded orb. It's possible that's not all.
- Loud Thud now have lots of new items in the pool like Voidshards(probably all), Volte (probably all), Pulse(more than before?), Sroda items, Lilith HTBF items, Shinryu HTBF items. Also still has most (if not all) of the old items.

Block them. its trolling at this point.

Have anyone gotten Belligerent bangs on Venus Orb? Only gotten them on Mars Orbs so far

I got 3 today off Mars. Router for the jillionth time and two that I'd never gotten before- Himthige and Dukkha. Both are Meebles. Dunno if they're new to it, but I've gotten many, many pulse and never had those.

Yes. 608 time on Very Difficult to be precise. I've received 8 total drops: 3x Scythe, 2x Helm, 3x Mail, 0x Dagger, 0x Cloak.

agreed, it really shouldn't have taken that one guy 2 solid pages till he cought on to the fact the other guy is just arguing for the sake of arguing.

but have you seen those other guys pointing out how annoying those guys arguing are? they going on about it for about 1/2 page by now, they really starting to annoy me.

has anyone tested if the sroda ring scales physical damage limit instead of attack depending on how many trusts are in party?

On a venus orb, I did walk into a room with a rainbow chest present without clicking any chests. Middle chest was then also a loud thud. 2x bewitched pieces :(

All mine were Mars orbs.
