Umm....if seller pulled a *** move like that pretty soon the entire server would know. The buyer who got *** can just do a player warning in yell channel and nobody would ever buy anymore orb from that seller ever again.

3m to 5m isn't large amount of Gil. If you are an orb seller would you take the risk of never be able to sell more orbs in the future for that one time 3-5m free gil? I think not.

If someone really want to sacrifice their rep for free gil, they would probably pick something truly expensive, like KC. It's quite unlikely people would do that to cheap orbs.

Completing the newest VR missions yields another two RoE quests from Elijah. One in Reisenjima and another in Western Altepa Desert.

those prices are old and i expect them to have changed, never had a close eye on the market as i never participated in it.

you keep pointing out reputation but past has shown bad reputation doesn't stop scammers, good example are the oboro clones.

from what i've read there is the option to change name if your name is already taken on your target server which can be arranged.

Prices were 3m/5m prior to deflation, and then they went down to 1m/3m and people stopped selling them. Then prices went back to 3m/5m with inflation. And I'd expect them to rise to 5m/7m given the recent change and demand of them.

On Asura at least, prices for Mars/Venus have been 1-1.2m/1.5-2m for a while.

Ya crazy deflation hit. At least on Odin, if judging from +2 necks, we went from 80-100m necks -> 30m necks -> 60+m necks.

So I see the economy bouncing back.

Edit: Orbs are in a weird spot rn 'cuz they just had a major increase in demand over night. So we'll see where they land at the equilibrium price. :P

Oboro clones made WAY more than 3m lol, also making oboro clones doesn't take 45 days nor it needs lv99...

There are scammers spending 45 days + grind 99 lv just for a trove scamming mule, make 3m from scamming orbs, then pay $9-$18 to SE to change name or spend another 45 days for a new mule just to scam 3m again? Sounds like a very inefficient way to make money Lol.

Real scammers would just aim for higher prices items or Merc service instead. I find it hard to imagine scamming orb sales is even worth it. If I really want to scam someone, I'd just shout for selling bumba V20 win for 200m, take their money then bail. Lol @selling mars orb.

Isn't so much that everyone is 100% trustworthy, as the chances of being ripped off are low and the ability to protect yourself nonexistant.

If seller enters bc, they always have option to disband, pop flee, and get to chest first. They will be inside bc first because you can't even enter until after they do. Realistically, a perfect situation is not possible here, so some trust is required. Adding a bunch of needless steps to try to tell yourself it makes it safer is silly.

Is it worth opening the chest after the thud or wait for a loud thud?

if we pretend someones reputation is instantly destroyed after the first scam, which it isn't cause it's a word against word scenario, you could also inverse the situation and falsely claim you've been scammed. that market would be dead pretty quickly.
so you probably can pull this multiple times befor no one trusts you anymore and then there is still different time zones and language barriers that restrict word of mouth which leads to more scam oportunities.

it's also clear that a server jumpers main profit margin is within exploitation of the individual server economies. the scam is just a cherry on top.
it is a trust based trade and you need to be aware of it befor you engage in it.

ofc there are more profitable scams but for the bumba clear one in your example you'd need at least 4 buddies or multiboxes or find a fool that pays befor you assembled the party.
also no one says scammers are very bright.

The rainbow chest can be already popped when you enter the battlefield.

I think ffxiah / discord add some degree to accountability on reputations. Word would spread pretty quickly if someone was scamming a person. On Odin anyway.

So it just randomly is present when you enter? I had the impression it appeared as you were randomly opening boxes.
