Bot Armies are flooding starting areas

What shocks me is that there is still a market for bought gil in s twenty year old game. I mean... I guess everyone that started this back in 2002 that still plays is like 35~45 years old now so they should have expendable income and rationalize spending real money for ingame currency is easier than spending real life time farming a mindless grind, but still.
A ton of "adults" with terrible mindsets.
Throw hundreds or thousands at this game and then have what to do?
There's a guy who posted here looking for basically all contents clears and says he AFKs all the time.
Pathetic.
This is what i dont get why play the game if you are not playing the game
They're still playing, they're just skipping the shitty parts. Ever blahblahblah through a tutorial? Fastforward an emulator? Skip a cutscene? Autobattle an easy fight? Yeah, that.

I mean.. if you want a merc for every relevant content in the game, are you really playing? Probably just collecting, but I guess thats a form of playing lol

I paid mercs for clears of Dynamis because I am no longer in any shell that does dynamis in the old manner. I would prefer to do anything around today with my friends that all have quit long ago, but that's not the case. At least I have memories like kiting kirin in a little party while outside alliance would pull off the things it summoned. That was one of the most fun events I ever participated in and a wonderful memory.
The only current "memory" (thought) I have about the game that is particularly favorable is that I can now afford to pay others to let me tag along for clears. That's how I'll remember the content that I could pay a merc for.

Dynamis is the worst after having done that for over 12 years. Dont blame anyone for skipping that one.

The problem is that there are too many lazy people who don't want to do the work that a GM should be doing by reporting 18+ people on http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/rule/specialtask.html every day. Square enix is squandering profits on other enterprises and WoW Clones like 14 and we don't get Devs or Moderation but still play out the *** for inventory space and monthly subscriptions.

People don't buy gil because they are lazy, they buy gil out of desperation.
Established players don't understand what it is like for new players, especially new players who have been trained in wow clones with dungeon finders. You can't just join a shell and get this stuff or clears, you don't know what shell to join and why would they want you anyway since you have no great gear.
When someone does make a newbie endgame shell and promotes it in yell the RMT get infuriated and attack those people on alts (and by RMT I don't mean chinese RMT, I mean established players who sell gil), they do this precisely because they know their money comes from desperation.

Wow clones have subs and cash shops, Square want us to go play ff14 because it's literally a shopping mall. They can monetize you far more effectively on that game thnt ff11. People keep saying "they don't shove it in your face! yes they do, they shill on the launcher all the time.
They don't want you playing 11, the only reason it's still alive at all is because we are stubborn. If they could find some magic to get us to stop playing this and play 14 they would do it. The only way they would spend a lot of money on 11, is if they could find some way to put a cash shop in it. The only reason they are still funding updates is because they need the money we bring in.
Cash shops are really predatory, 14 probably makes more money from the cash shop than it makes from subs. The "it's only cosmetic" crowd are enablers because mmorpg players care more about cosmetics than power, how long did players do HNM to get blurple armor and dalmatica, how many did it to wear it to show off and how many did it for the extra 1 refresh and 10 attack.
I'll tell you right now that I did HNM purely to show off wearing it, I did not care about 1 refresh.
I hate to say it but Square Enix are turning into an awful company. I'm already seeing signs they are getting ready to push into paid lotoboxes and when they do the defense force will shut down any complaints to it.

You're about a dozen or so years late on the "turning into" part.
I guess to be fair they're getting worse and if your standards are lower it took longer to reach your threshold.

It's sad that something like this had to be created by the players, but the blacklist function doesn't work for a few moments after you zone so crap gets through. I think I was reading something on another thread about another blacklist option too.
Find that here:

Can't vouch for it as I'm dealing with some real life stuff, but it looks promising and I'll check it out when I return later this week.

I had one of the greatest times last night destroying the West Ronfaure Elvaan army. They were frantically doing everything to stop me, but nothing was working until they started poshacking out of danger. Even then, I found another way of getting them killed until I got tired and fell asleep.
Sadly, it seems they have put in a countermeasure, so I'm back to reporting in to the STF void. It was pretty genius for a while, I wrecked the alliance so bad it lost half its bots and level sync, so it had to retreat and regroup. You can report bots here:

They are probably going to disappear tomorow once Asura opens back up.

It wasn't because asura was closed, it was because there's only 1 south gustaberg/west ronfaure per server and they want 500 bots earning
By RadialArcana 2021-10-10 10:15:46
There are only so many buyers too, it's pointless to bot beyond your ability to sell. They just ban the bank accounts.

That's an equilibrium that has not yet (and probably won't ever) be hit. and "the bank" never(*) gets banned. You don't do anything bannable on "the bank".

I don't worry about unstoppable bot armies farming gil for RMT
I will worry when the bot armies switch to mastery rank grinding once they see how cool it is

People cried enough until they nerfed sparks, and accolades once, if you keep sniveling, they'll just take sparks completely out of the game.

We did fine without it, the game spent most of its life sparks free. Pumping gil in to the economy out of thin air is fine, but allowing it on a massive scale only helps RMT, mercs, and those who spend real money to get their gil. Everybody else suffers, because those idiots who bought the gil will pay literally any price for items and to have things done for them.
I've seen it, these people have no idea what things are actually worth. They throw gil around like it's nothing, because they don't care so long as they shortcut their way through content in a game designed to be grindy. It discourages fair prices and for players to team up together, which kills the point of the game.

They don't have to get rid of sparks anyway, they could just get rid of the objectives being abused. That said, SE has no incentive to get rid of these characters because they inflate the account sale numbers by insane amounts.

Coming back fresh as a lvl 1 was a good laugh. My first 5 minutes outside bastok in gustaberg and there are 5 galkas moving at some ridiculous speeds killing all the bees, bats and worms. I decide to go the other way and before I can shoot anything, another group of galkas position hacking through ***, like ping-pong balls bouncing from mob to mob 2-3 shotting everything.
At first I was like "oh cool, they must have introduced some kinda permanent increased movement speed when engaged or something". then I was like "Yo, you're speed hacking right in-front of me, wtf" to which their reply was "100$ PL do you need it?"
By Pantafernando 2021-10-10 15:08:03
Zeruhm Mines is just there. Plus you can quickly move like 5 lvs just doing RoE, grab trusts and move to Palborough Mines or Dangruf Wadi.
And 100$ is too expensive

I actually think about this often, its scary how people are becoming such sheep they'll accept anything thrown in their face. I see so many people in the past who were completely against anything micro-transaction based. Then those same people are buying all the mounts and things in XIV. These companies are slowly pushing their limits to maximize profit and they know what they are doing.

I don't know how vast people like this are but they do exist. Some people are very feeble-minded and easily persuaded. I've known some who will do a complete 180 when the right "things" are dangled in front of their face which reinforced "everyone has a price".
Bottom line, as long as there are people who are willing to spend real money on these things, they'll just keep getting worse. Eventually, it will become the norm. God, remember how bad it was when the Fortnite fad was big and people were psycho-obsessing over V-bucks and skins? "OMG, you HAVE to have this new skin or else you're considered a noob!" Next week, repeat.
"What, that game doesn't have microtransactions? That's like a baby's toy!"

To be honest it's not anywhere near as bad as it's made out to be, I've leveled around these bots just fine. It's more of a visual annoyance more than anything serious.
FF14 is a game that was designed where gil has very little real value, and people still buy it. So really, I don't think there is anything you can do about it.

FFXIV, yes. Pretty strange to go from it's predecessor where gil is not as easy to get and is invaluable to 14 where it rains from the sky and you can do just fine with little. When I played, I rarely spent gil. Some here and there on alts to get them ilvl ready but most anything relevant is free anyway.

Submitted a report to the STF just now about two armies, one in Bastok (Galka), and the other in San'Doria (Elvaan), all mass farming sparks on new characters. This is how they are doing it:
Have three designated "leaders" at level 11 Monk. These leaders invite new level 1 Monks to their party. They level these new characters up to level 11 by killing small prey in secluded areas. Once they reach 11 or close, the alliance is formed (might already be?) and then they level sync to 11.
From here, they mass farm low level mobs to gain sparks via the crystal gathering Records of Eminence. Once all new characters have capped sparks, they trade in for Acheron Shields and NPC them for 1m gil each. In one army, they could expect to make 15m per round, and it perhaps takes about an hour? I have not timed it, but it won't take long. Once this is done, they keep the leaders, delete the others, and create new ones to repeat the process.
I have witnessed them using the following third party tools:
1) Excessive movement speed
2) Clipping through walls
3) Pos Hacking across the zone
(They do this to place new characters in good camps without having to travel, or if a character reaches 50-60%)
4) Self healing
(I have no idea how they are healing so well, they just keep bumping up to 100% for no good reason)
This isn't just about gil, as it affects anyone wanting to gain experience points in the starting areas. I tried dumping Leaping Lizzy on one of these bots, but Monk's damage, along with the healing, meant it didn't do all that much.
There is a solution to all this though... Kill the crystal RoE objective. Either nerf it to the ground or remove it from the game. Only RMT abuse this, and it would certainly make these armies obsolete.
