Hi friends

I was curious if anybody has a solution for the lag caused in the Lilith battlefield by the Dark Gyves. There are times I don't have sufficient time to respond to Fatal Allure or Dread Spikes because the lag is out of control. I have tried replacing the .DAT with other, less laggy, .DATs but that has caused them not to be visible at all. This causes its own problems. I've scoured the internet for no-glow versions of this model, but have been unsuccessful. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

That is so much simpler than .DAT modding. Thank you!

I don't know why they even have blureffect anymore, it's a ps2 thing that doesn't even work on PC very well.

I replaced them with poroggos, it looks hella weird but works great. rom/259/73 through 80 is where you will find the gyves

I could be mistaken, but I think this also turns off the blue aura around Avatars (Smn Pets). This might help with lag with Smn burning.

Wow I had no idea this even existed. Quadboxing Lilith brings so much lag.

Only have to do this once then it’s set forever, correct?

Thank you for this. I had no idea this was a built-in option in the game.

Hi friends

I was curious

I love that you start your statement with a "Hi friends. I was curious". All of the best things result from that kind of statement.

Also look into dgvoodoo if you're experiencing slowdown on your machine. It can make ffxi smooth on even some of the oldest machines.

There's a thread here on ffxiah with details of what you need to do to set it up.

Update for anybody else with this issue:

1) /localsettings blureffect off was a huge help and made the instance playable with one character. Two characters was still choppy. Three resulted in still being unable to respond to Dark Thorn and Fatal Allure.

2) I also changed the .DAT file for the Dark Gyves into Runic Lamps. The Runic Lamp .DAT file is located in Rom4/1/107.DAT. The Dark Gyve .DAT file is Rom/259/80.DAT. The only issue is that when she spawns one, only the name will appear and not the model therefore I fought her with my camera at the highest angle to see when a gyve was spawned.

3) I did try DGVoodoo but I probably messed up the settings because, ultimately, it resulted in much lower performance despite taking quite a bit of the load off my CPU.

I've managed 5/5, 4/5, and 3/5 pieces on my characters in 379 fights like this. It's not ideal having to hold the camera angle up while also prepping to turn around and cycling macros but it does work. I just hope it's not 379 more fights before I have those other pieces. Thanks everybody for the input!

Try this mod I just made

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IRj4lhHtiE7lAXXqiBHVOOwFvNoWLCoY/view?usp=sharing

It's the normal Gyve with all the glow stuff removed, let me know if it helps or not. If not I maybe able to change it more or just delete it.

Before and after in image, I think the miasma is the problem same as with geo bubbles but I took the glowing orb out too.

By the way, what are the other gyves for, the ice, wind, light ones? Anyone know.

Yeah, I mentioned that in my post, I'm having trouble finding the specific dats related to it-- using both POLUtils and AltanaView.

Edit: nevermind, found them under ROM/259/, 73-80 are the elemental gyves, 80 being the dark elemental.

https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/54070/fetter-removal/#3455574
In the order is fire - ice - wind - earth - thunder - water - light - dark

EDIT: I think what you did with the dark gyves really helped, looking forward to the remaining ones

It really should not crash from this, maybe some lag but that's about it. Are you using mega textures mod or something?
