except it isn't what we observe in this thread, we didn't read lots of "omg ejin probably got banned for the same ***i do, i better stop using that ***" instead we see coping mechansisms, rationalsiing and self convincing about why it will not hit them and they just continue verbatim.

btw over on twitch ejin does the same thing, just stated that he doesn't think anyone is at danger of getting banned, it's just him getting mass reported. i don't see much of a deterrent effect if even the person who got struck doesn't get the message.

and why would he, with excessive 3rd party tool use, support from his viewers and/or gil buying he'll be back on track within a month or so, SE is simply too slow to be taking seriously by those that made a profession out of it and as a "casual cheater" the chances of winning the lottery are probably on par with getting banned.

yet it's the chines that have mass surveilance and public pillories where they display pics of offenders of their social credit system. it works in every culture.

The offenses considered worthy of bans are mostly obvious.

1) No automation

I'm not familiar with Singer or Roller, but I assume they automate BRD songs and COR rolls for alts? No buino. React sounds like it automates player movement/direction in response to events. Also not legit. Add-ons that automate selling to NPCs and augmenting armor/weapons goes here too. Your character shouldn't do anything without your input.

2) No exploits

'Clever use of game mechanics' is code for cheating. This would be things like pinning mobs or using terrain to keep mobs from attacking you normally or at all. Duping/cloning also belong here. Positional/flee hacking as well. Superwarp, I see you.

3) Personal conduct

Harassment is typically solved by blacklist/ignore but I have heard of players who were suspended for harassment. I've also seen players jailed for spamming shout/yell with graphic or obscene language. Don't be a butthat.

4) RMT

Trading real money for gil or 'services'. A bit surprising since XI has been the Zimbabwe of MMOs for the past half decade at least, but they do still ban for this.


If you are involved in any of this you are subject so do not be surprised if/when the hammer drops. It's not up to the players to decide what is or is not ban worthy or to make their own quality of life adjustments to the game.

Gearswaps aren't bots ;P All it does is swap gear, there's definitely no way in hell a gearswap can be automated, totally no auto functions such as auto weaponskill or auto tank features.
Gearswap is just the same as a macro, but more convenient, right?

I speculate that one of the individuals involved in the official twitch.tv stream for FFXI checked out the current FFXI streamers before going live and saw what he was doing and that a majority of the viewers were at his stream, too, thus reported him internally. Less than a week later, Boom goes the dynamite!

He actually speculated this scenario himself a few times. He stated there was a correlation between both of his bans and the timing of Primed for Adventure streams. Imagine thinking the world is out to get you.

That doesnt look like a video of an english speaking player catching someone POSing from BCNM exit to entrance. NA players dont use /names, if theyre accusing someone of cheating, they'll get their name out there front and center.

This was most likely made by someone selling the hack, they just rehosted it.

The other one they talked about was just pointing out how they do these things.

It's about number of reports on an account during a time and place. Enough of that gets the STFU's attention while also giving a perfect filter for them to microscope everything someone is doing. Ejin's streams was sufficient for mass's of people to report him and his alts at a specific time and place. Easy enough for some overworked SE employee to look in the logs and say "yep cheating *click* next case".

I tried streaming once in like 2014 back when addons/plugins barely did anything cool and I got like 2 or 3 posts on my ffxi profile saying "Enjoy your ban cheater!"

Never did that again.
