SO after reading this thread I still cant decide if I should pick up a Gandring. My goal would be for it to help assist me in master level progress and maybe other mid tier content? Aeolian edge only. What do you guys use it for, are you happy you spend 80 mil gil on it? Help! Dynamis is today must decide!

It's an expensive toy. Not a must have by any means, but it is a lot of fun to play with. If that gil can be spent on something like o.sash or some other big gain item, then probably better to get that.

It's perfectly ok to buy toys and spend gil stupidly too.

I use my Gandring solely for farming detritus, or old dyna. That’s it. It’s a farming weapon (that need a matching idle turtle idle set) where the more enemy, the merrier. Usually those content provides crap ML. It’s also not the best for purely thinking of AE (the calculator actually show another weapons combo, I forgot on the top of my head). Think more like a play style.

So no Gandring will not help you ML faster, doubt it’s worth the money (can RMT a lot of free ML for that price… just saying), unless you are planning on daily detritus farming for 1+ year, then yes.

THF also is in no use in any endgames where ML is a need.

thats a subjective answer but I appreciate it nonetheless. AE exemplar cleave is actually very good. And I enjoy playing the game, I would never buy exemplar. ALso more ML = more acc/ evasion, thf is a lot of fun in more then just a few peices of content for me. BUTTT dooo I want to spend this much, I wish I could see a video of someone with 20 mobs n them, I wanna see the tp gain.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhb-ZxXbBXM&ab_channel=CallMeKwech is one video I've seen and relates to your exemplar farming interest. I've seen ones of it being done in Omen as well swart farming.

That video is total BS reality, dude show up 2 alts, SV 3 min es +2 mambo, then use perfect dodge, not the reality. Omen yes absolutely, back to back to back… that is not.

Well just wanted to show him video with TP gain but yeah it totally is to the extreme. Anything done solo normally would be with a fraction of the numbers of mobs.

It sucks evasion is capped at 80%, you would think 95% cause... like Fudo, 5% chance to miss....

You should get it, you won't regret Gandring because it is ultra fun for THF and gives you something different to do. I was gifted a Su4 and I use it in Omen and sometimes Sheol A farming, and have a blast doing it.

In omen, I can pull the first 2 floors on THF solo and clear it in about 45 seconds (just engage a trans first and run around so your whm trust heals you). The "small light" path I usually pull the rabbits and mandys through initial aggro, then pop flee and pull lizards/vultures, and if it's daytime, Ladybugs. By this point, flee is about to wear off, and you can die very easily if you get animation locked or not healed (because with so many mobs, targeting is terrible), so I pop Perfect Dodge right here, Waltz myself, engage, then fire of AEs. I'm able to kill those 5 groups in about 3 minutes from pull to death, but it's very fun to do it this way. AE is not as effective vs Panopts and Pixies, but I still do it on those also. Doesn't work on Fairies, so I just kill those with Twash.

In Sheol A, I'll go Su4/TP Bonus and pull a pack of mobs and fire off Rudras instead (AOE secondary damage doesn't work in Odyssey), each mob feeding me TP. These are slightly stronger than Swarts mobs from Omen, but they still miss you a bunch, so you get a lot of TP. You basically use them as batteries to give you faster DPS.

Before I had the dagger, I would sometimes pull mass groups in Sheol A/B on THF when we did money-farming parties. The dagger would have been a cool toy to mess around with while tanking and killing the groups of Nostos.

If you can think of a fun use for the dagger, go for it. It's very fun. Its pricy, but it definitely changes THFs playstyle from TP > WS to a more high risk-reward style, and I think it's a great choice. Can't speak to whether its practical in MLs though.

it's one of the best SU5 investments I think. does a great job of taking an aspect of THF and giving it new options in gameplay. also quite fun to use.

Maxed Malevolence? (sinister reign dagger)
I think it's been said befor, Gandring looks like a great toy but it's high cost and it beeing limited for farming omen currency It doesn't make that much sense to invest that much. Maybe limbus will change that.

Also I wouldn't even look at one if you don't have access to higher augmented nyame. Pretty sure AE damage without it isn't great and you're much more fragile switching to herculean augs, not a great idea with that many mobs on you.

If you use Grandring with a good dt evasion set it is great for divergence too. You could easily make your money back. Considering the limited functionality of thf endgame, I'd say it might just be the most important weapon for a thf to get. On my server it's price has dropped quite a bit abd it's around the 50 to 60 mil mark and not 90 mil like other SU5s. I'd say it's worth the investment a d imminent has paid for itself a few times over by now.

I always wondered about Levante dagger here. Would the 15% wind bonus be outclassed by MAB in a 3k tp situation?

Not asking if it beats Cent for DPS, it's more of a theory question for max burst damage from a single ws.
