i wonder how many cases of police brutality were reported when the victim/person being arrested was on drugs that made them harder to subdue
Do they gain super strength when high or just become immune to pain?

yea, depending on the drug they can. theres all kinds of stories of dudes flying sky high taking multiple tazers to down, or easily ragdolling multiple officers - specially on ***like PCP or other stimulants. i think there was a case i heard like ten years ago of a dude on crocodil that took seven officers to subdue because he was basically ragdolling them. i think there was a recent case of some dude on flakka that took eleven people and multiple tranquilizers to subdue him?

like some of these upper drugs are no *** joke man.

Which makes me wonder just how common that is. I’ve seen videos of tough guys getting dropped in an instant by tasers, so watching an emaciated drug addict shrug off two hits is really something.

Well physics aside (drugs don't deft newton or gravity), extreme stimulants just cause the nervous system to not register the damage the body is taking. Things like pain, torn muscles, broken bones simply don't register which is why those folks can keep swinging even after their bodies should of shut down.

As for shrugging off tazers, those things aren't that strong. Volts don't mean anything it's amps that matter. The static from your hair is over 10,000 volts yet is just a tickle. A 50A line with just 5v can kill you. Normally tasers work by temporary overloading the nervous system but to prevent heart attacks they are mild. Enough stimulants will let someone shrug them off until the body collapses from fatigue.

Really it's the "war on drugs" that is responsible for the insanity we have today. Police Officers are taught that every single civilian is really a violent heavily armed gang member waiting to kill them. Every time an Officer approaches someone its as an enemy combatant.

And we wonder why they shoot first and ask questions later.

Tazers are more effective on people with more muscle mass, iirc. They work by electrically overstimulating your muscles into involuntary contractions. They also have a limited range, can snag on clothing, and there are rare individuals where they do not work at all, though I don't remember the scientific reason for that.

Also interestingly, if you shoot someone in the head with a tazer, there's a decent chance at causing them a seizure.

There was a case in Olympia WA in the '80s where 2 cops and 4 civilians beat a teenager to death. At the inquest one of the cops said "there was LSD involved." As there is no way to detect LSD in either a living or dead body my instant thought was how much LSD were you all on?

Back then it was easy to attribute to Lysergic acid diethylamide what could have really been phenylcyclohexyl piperidine. Same time a lot of LSD was cut with speed... not that I know first hand or anything.

That was when the militarization of police began as a response to the Black Panthers.

So full circle indeed.

Edit: Technically 69’ with Special Weapons And Tactics aka SWAT.

Because we need a little satire in our lives:

Democrats Propose Replacing All Police with Traveling Bands of Hippies Singing Imagine

Quote:
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressional Democrats have announced a proposal to abolish the police and replace them all with traveling bands of hippies singing John Lennon's classic song "Imagine."

The police forces will arrive at the scene of a crime, pull out their djembes and guitars, and start singing beautiful lines like, "Imagine there's no heaven / It's easy if you try."

Criminals are expected to begin weeping as soon as they see the peace, love, and tolerance displayed by the hippies. "Our early research has been very promising," said Rayne Windflower, head of hippy research in the city of Minneapolis. "The science seems to indicate that as soon as you approach someone who is breaking the law and start singing 'Imagine all the people living for today' they drop their deadly weapon, return all the goods they have stolen, and join us in a dancing circle to smoke some weed."

"Seriously, try some of this dank bud," the scientist with bloodshot eyes added, giggling.

The new hippy police, will, of course, still have guns just in case the song doesn't work and will be authorized to throw you into a "Love Camp" if you do not comply.

To be fair, that is a nicer and optimistic view of defunding the police.

https://wjla.com/news/local/college-park-shooting-near-umd-campus-leaves-one-hurt-77621

got a few facts wrong, but the general 'smoked pcp, survived twelve gunshot wounds, multiple tazings, got naked, stole a cop car, held mother at gunpoint' all happened.

Quote:
No officers were shot during the chain of events, but police say that McKoy, who is remarkably listed in good condition at an area hospital, was shot more than a dozen times, shocked with a Taser and clubbed with police batons while they tried to apprehend him.

I did PCP once. I would describe it as an unpleasant experience and one I would not repeat. Subjectively nothing like LSD.

And yes, assorted amphetamines were a common adulterant in LSD. This is because LSD reactions, other than the hallucinations, are somewhat similar to speed.

First hand experience.

Because it’s evidence for the pending trial. If it exonerates the officers it exonerates them. He has a duty to not taint the potential jury pool by prematurely releasing evidence to the public. Let alone not tamper with said evidence by releasing it.

Clearly you don’t know how the legal system works. Keep being insulting though. Maybe you can cash in by starting a Cops learn to code educational program for that inevitable exodus from the force you imagined a couple of pages back.

It has more to do with having the charges stick than it does about race baiting.

If withholding evidence from public view ensures a trial that guarantees to convict these 4 officers, vs. releasing evidence prior to the trial and allows those 4 officers to get away scot free due to a technicality, I think it's best to withhold evidence...

ok, so your argument is, and was, that releasing footage to the public some way invalidates its ability to be used in a courtroom - and that it may potentially contaminate a jury pool correct? Ergo by your logic anyone who saw any news or any footage of this national event, couldnt serve on a jury due to being 'tainted' by your definition correct?

Do you know how we select juries when nation widely public incidents like this happen where its impossible to find a juror that hasnt seen it?

Also, not releasing evidence to the public is not the same as withholding evidence from the defense team, probably shouldn't use the term "withholding" at all in this case. Just trying to take a cheap shot at Ellison it seems like, he isn't doing anything wrong.

withholding is withholding regardless; i never claimed or even insinuated he was withholding it from prosecution - thats an entirely seperate claim not even in the same universe as what i said previously.

Because they don’t understand (based off of the attacks on Ellisons character) that the Attorney General of a State has an apolitical duty to not mishandle evidence.

Mishandling of Evidence by a State Attorney General would be hilariously bad.
