ALL TRUMP!!! ALL THE TIME!!!
By Prong 2020-06-24 05:06:17
Even if she were an idiot (she's not)
It's preferable to have someone who might screw up over someone who will purposely screw you time after time after time.
Politicians do. not. have your best interests in mind.
We can agree on that (the latter part, Alexa Ontario-Cortana is a complete idiot). I mean, Pelosi, Leahy, Markey, Wyden and Schumer (etc.) were blaming everything on Reagan when he was in office and now here they are, being politicians for decades and now blaming someone who's been one for 3 years for everything.
If the protestors really wanted to make some kind of positive change, they should leave the statues alone and demand term limits for congress.

As a general rule, Representatives/Senators are educated and many have “impressive credentials”, which is the metric that people use to defend AOC as if she’s so much more impressive on paper than the many Republicans they freely call idiots. The fact of the matter is that she sounds like an idiot and her ideas like the Green New Deal are insanely stupid. Sorry, but she’s earned the title of idiot regardless of what her IQ actually is. Stupid is as stupid does.

Plus, you can find a myriad of video collages of her saying one insanely incorrect thing after another on YouTube. Things that would get basically any other politician's career torched by the media yet, she's just given a pass over and over for whatever insane reason.
I'd normally just blame the big, fat (D) next to her name, but it's more than that, because even white, male Democrats would get crucified for some of the mistakes she makes.

Everything in the "green new deal" IS good.
There is nothing in the entire document that you could say isn't what we need to do. Obviously it's VERY ambitious. Should we not be ambitious instead of stagnant?
Everything in this document needs to happen the only thing iffy is timeline. Maybe not "absolutes of 100%"

It's not that, "create gooder jobs for everyone that create zero carbon emissions" isn't a nice thought, it's that she has absolutely zero idea how to achieve such things and for the last time, you will never achieve all of those things as long as humans exist.
We need realistic solutions, not some dreamy, Puff the Magic moron hippy telling us in a long document, "we need to make the icky things better and use other people's money to do it."
Hell, anyone can just, pick the nicest possible dreamland things they can think of and come off looking like a good person.
"I think all people should be rich."
"We should be able to make iPhones out of apples and the network can be roots in the ground."
"All armies should have Nerf tanks and fight it out on Fortnite."

Hey, look at me! I can also create a document full of idealistic nonsense that, like, sounds super good but is impossible to implement and pretend that it would work as actual legislation! #LikeSoSmart

Look at Michigan. The entirety of the public transport system is non existent. Largely if not wholly because of the rust belt.
We have ZERO subways, in the entire state.
One monorail, that is about a 3 miles long.
One lightrail and it was only built recently (woodward) Qline May 12, 2017
Our bus system is absolute dogshit.

Wrong, again. I'm all for positive realistic change.
I am more pro-animal rights and pro-environmental legislation than even you I bet. I was against the Dakota Pipeline, entirely. I am against fracking, entirely. I am against the Trump kid's big game hunting escapades, entirely. I hope they accidentally shoot themselves while aiming at their next super rare ram or albino giraffe.
But you can't tear down every building in existence overnight and rebuild it all with a material that doesn't even yet exist, being she's only in favor of materials that place zero burden on our environment and cost poor people $0.00. You can't end air travel without a viable alternative that doesn't take 7 weeks to cross the Atlantic. Our society is too far down the road for her solutions to work.
And I'm all for public transit especially in metro areas. So maybe you should lobby your Democratic mayors/congress-persons/city council-people who run those states/cities like Detroit to get on it.

Like I said the timelines is unreasonable. and 100% teardown and rebuild is unreasonable. 100% never use gas again is unreasonable.
This is why there is "where technologically feasible" is in every line.
It's not all "do this immediately at the cost of everything else" they're goals. 10 years is extremely lofty ambition. it's there so it gets bargained down to 20 or 50. all the 100% gets bargained down to 80% 50% etc.

No, I’m just pragmatic. A good idea that is impossible to implement is a bad idea. If I wrote a piece of legislation that did 0.1% as much as what the Green New Deal promised then it would be vastly superior because mine might actually pass. That’s the difference between political theater and getting things done, but you probably wouldn’t even hear about it because getting things done takes a back seat to razzle dazzle garbage.

I'm ok with you thinking that way. You're emotional about it, I'm not.
I literally only said it (right now) so no one comes in and says it. Yes, I'm pro-volcano! Never won't be. Never going to change. And you whining about it changes nothing, so don't.
You're going to have to get over it. That doesn't mean I can't be for "in the now and near future" changes... while waiting for more pro-volcano enthusiasts.

Well to the surprise of no one, AOC won her primary today by 50 points, her challenger isn't even worth talking about. Agreed. Liberals have become so insane that they would vote in favor of one of the most ignorant people to ever do a live interview. No surprise whatsoever. Sarah Palin's leftist equivalent. From Wiki:
[AOC] came in second in the Microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans.[20] In a show of appreciation for her efforts, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.[21][22] In high school, she took part in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala (LDZ) Youth Legislative Session. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University. Ocasio-Cortez had a John F. Lopez Fellowship.[23]...
During college, Ocasio-Cortez served as an intern for U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, in his section on foreign affairs and immigration issues.[27]...
Ocasio-Cortez graduated *** laude from Boston University College of Arts and Sciences with a BA in 2011, majoring in international relations and economics.[23][28][29]

This would slow so much of the idiocy flowing out of our government.
Probably wont ever happen though. Why would the people that control this facet essentially castrate themselves? Because it would be good for everyone else but them. This is easily one of the few topics that reps on both sides of the aisle will quickly change the subject about.

So, you cherry-picked two and that's your argument? I went looking for representatives in Kentucky (we always made fun of Kentucky growing up in Indiana, so I figured it was a good start for the lols). Out of the first six I found, there's an MIT grad who won the school's top prize for inventors, two Yale grads, and two lawyers. They're not as high-profile as AOC and don't need to overcompensate for talking like a 14-year-old, so their every achievement isn't listed on Wikipedia, I'm sure.
