Meh, there’s still time.
I’m not nearly as invested in this election as the last one, but I still intend on voting. I voted Trump primarily for the Supreme Court (as did many others), so that was a huge win that doesn’t go away if he loses. Replacing Ginsburg would be a cherry on top, but I actually prefer a balanced court. Beyond that, what an excellent ticket to run against in 2024 if Biden even lasts that long.
I'm just waiting for Trump to throw out de-scheduling cannibis, if only to make the Dems support the War on Drugs.

Umm what platform? The Republicans didn't have a platform in 2016, ... This platform:
The platform in .pdf
Can you define the democrat platform? No, but if they ever get around to setting a platform I will be able to link it.

They both spew unintelligible garbage, but fone was usually benign.
I dont get the confusion either.

Commodus at least has a goal, a "message" of some sort, whether one agrees with it or not. Fone literally just spam posted short blurbs or sentences, usually accompanied by a quote or meme that rarely had anything to actually do with the conversation at hand. Yeah, I don't see how people confuse them in any way.

Why do people keep thinking abknight/Commodus is Fonewear? Honestly, it's a better meme than what's going on outside.
When are we going to demand justice for Fone???? Wait wrong thread...

Y'all hating on Commodore and Fone makes me want to do a meme but I can't right now. Ending seen to Dark Knight where Gordon turns dead Harvey Dent/Two Face side to show the good side and with "Commodore being the hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now (Fone)" or something to it. Meh.
What did happen to Fone? Finally get himself banned? Seems par for the course around these parts.

He got suspended for a couple days for something. He then decided to make an alt and spam an account to 100 posts so he could post in P+R while his main was suspended, and that WILL get you a permaban.

Nah. There's plenty of room on the left after descheduling. The leftish position seems to be "legalize AND pardon related convictions for possession", which we can all agree Trump is never going to do. No paradox risk here.
Also, I hadn't expected Neil Gorsuch, Champion of LGBT rights, but 2020 is showing us a lot of crazy ***

Oh, sure, I just wasn't expecting 6-3. It's completely in character for Gorsuch - the written word is ALL that matters to him. But I definitely was not expecting it in a way that turns the CRA into such a wide-ranging law.
Alito's 140+ page dissent crashed the SCOTUS servers though, which is hilarious.

Its a banner day for LGBT rights, probably their biggest victory ever, and it blows up Trump's entire anti-LGBT platform. Congrats to all.

But yeah, there's going to be a non-zero number of new cases coming out of both. And you could think the Media could add more so that the general public could also get that idea. Not everyone is as intelligent as you Rooks. They don't even wonder why a big group of people won't listen to them. They should be more objective in their reporting if they claim to be objective.

I am an idiot. Never, ever, forget that.
I'm married to a public health researcher, though. Who knew THAT was gonna come in handy?
And yes, shitty headlines are not a new thing, but in this case there's a reason health experts are only questioning one of them.

I disagree that you're an idiot, but I also mainly disagree with the media showing their bias. It's not that I don't see your point, more of how they WRITE their points out. Leave out details here and nitpick there. Should nitpick equally.
PS: Kudos on your spouse. :)

I actually quite liked Kavanaugh's separate dissent. Which wasn't so much about the ruling but on separation of powers.
Quote: Under the Constitution’s separation of powers, the responsibility to amend Title VII belongs to Congress and the President in the legislative process, not to this Court
Basically he's saying that it's not the Courts job to make laws and that the proper place for this change is through Congress.
Quote: Notwithstanding my concern about the Court’s transgression of the Constitution’s separation of powers, it is appropriate to acknowledge the important victory achieved today by gay and lesbian Americans. "Millions of gay and lesbian Americans have worked hard for many decades to achieve equal treatment in fact and in law. They have exhibited extraordinary vision, tenacity, and grit—battling often steep odds in the legislative and judicial arenas, not to mention in their daily lives. They have advanced powerful policy arguments and can take pride in today’s result.
I have many of the same beliefs myself, that a person's sexual orientation absolutely should not be a condition for employment. The only exception I could see would be religious orientated organizations like Churches, but even that's a bit of a stretch (nobody share care what orientation the Janitor is.) Congress should be the ones doing this though, as in take the same law, add like three words to it, then approve it. No pork or other ***, just add sexual orientation to the list of protected status.

Wouldn't expect the GOP to get onboard with the equality for all machine anytime soon. They just had a member lose a primary for officiating a gay wedding, that will be enough to silence them for years. Trump hasn't even acknowledged the landmark ruling today that saw him on the losing side.

See, that's more or less how I interpreted Gorsuch's opinion. "As written the law applies thusly. Don't like it, change the law."
From a purely textual perspective Gorsuch's opinion is correct; you can't talk about orientation or gender identity without talking about sex, and sex is a protected class under Title VII. That's as open and shut as anything getting to the Supreme Court is gonna get.
Kavanaugh's dissent isn't crazy, but he's wrong here: interpreting the law as written is the duty of the courts. That's what they did here.

The law WAS made through congress. The 6 - 3 decision merely confirms it.

Trump hasn't even acknowledged the landmark ruling today that saw him on the losing side. He didn't loose a primary. The congressional district opted for a drive through convention rather than a primary. If they left it up to the will of the voters the guy might have won and they wouldn't stand for that.
