Commodus at least has a goal, a "message" of some sort, whether one agrees with it or not. Fone literally just spam posted short blurbs or sentences, usually accompanied by a quote or meme that rarely had anything to actually do with the conversation at hand. Yeah, I don't see how people confuse them in any way.

Oh, sure, I just wasn't expecting 6-3. It's completely in character for Gorsuch - the written word is ALL that matters to him. But I definitely was not expecting it in a way that turns the CRA into such a wide-ranging law.

Alito's 140+ page dissent crashed the SCOTUS servers though, which is hilarious.

Its a banner day for LGBT rights, probably their biggest victory ever, and it blows up Trump's entire anti-LGBT platform. Congrats to all.

I actually quite liked Kavanaugh's separate dissent. Which wasn't so much about the ruling but on separation of powers.


Basically he's saying that it's not the Courts job to make laws and that the proper place for this change is through Congress.


I have many of the same beliefs myself, that a person's sexual orientation absolutely should not be a condition for employment. The only exception I could see would be religious orientated organizations like Churches, but even that's a bit of a stretch (nobody share care what orientation the Janitor is.) Congress should be the ones doing this though, as in take the same law, add like three words to it, then approve it. No pork or other ***, just add sexual orientation to the list of protected status.

Wouldn't expect the GOP to get onboard with the equality for all machine anytime soon. They just had a member lose a primary for officiating a gay wedding, that will be enough to silence them for years. Trump hasn't even acknowledged the landmark ruling today that saw him on the losing side.

See, that's more or less how I interpreted Gorsuch's opinion. "As written the law applies thusly. Don't like it, change the law."

From a purely textual perspective Gorsuch's opinion is correct; you can't talk about orientation or gender identity without talking about sex, and sex is a protected class under Title VII. That's as open and shut as anything getting to the Supreme Court is gonna get.

Kavanaugh's dissent isn't crazy, but he's wrong here: interpreting the law as written is the duty of the courts. That's what they did here.

Fixed. The particular humans happen to be LBGT. This, BTW, kills the administration's attempt to strip health protections from LBGT people.

The law WAS made through congress. The 6 - 3 decision merely confirms it.

He didn't loose a primary. The congressional district opted for a drive through convention rather than a primary. If they left it up to the will of the voters the guy might have won and they wouldn't stand for that.

Republicans against democracy carried the day and saved the party from allegations of human warmth and compassion.

I didn't say they didn't have human rights either. Or that the "right" side is against it. The quote I quoted stated LGBT rights, so I did in kind.
