Recommend a laptop!

So I found this..
Acer 15.6 FHD Laptop, 7th Quad Core AMD A12-9700P 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4, 1TB HDD 128GB SSD Hybrid, AMD Radeon R8 M445DX 2GB Dedicated Graphics, 802.11ac, Bluetooth, HDMI, Windows 10 (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PMSYPQH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_cRzBDb7SV9R1S.
I know it was said the hybrid SSD wouldn't be as good but is it going to make a HUGE difference? This is renewed, the new one was $510. Wouldn't mind saving that $110 if refurbished isn't going to be an issue.

A distinction without a difference. Nobody and I repeat nobody should have a spinning disk as their OS drive, to say otherwise is moronic.

I'll repeat: Acer is garbage. You're better off saving a bit of money and not buying a steaming pile and actually getting something that will last a bit.

Speaking like everyone has extra cash laying around is moronic. Jesus Christ the game is 16 years old, it doesn't take much to run FFXI smoothly. He's not asking for a full HD game or a top of the line laptop, he's asking to run FFXI smoothly.

Never did, I'm just saying buying a computer with a spinning disk (for the OS) is stupid and if you still suggest it in 2019 you don't know what you're talking about. They shouldn't even have it as an option.
As for "run XI smoothly" you can't even run Windows smoothly on a spinning disk, get a clue or with the damn times.

2019 ASUS 15.6" High Performance Laptop Computer, AMD Quad-Core A12-9720P Processor up to 3.6GHz, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 128GB SSD, AMD Radeon R7 Graphics, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB 3.0, HDMI, Windows 10 Home https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QR3SDP4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WICBDbJBVQ12N
It doesn't have the 256gb SSD but would it run the game smoothly?
126gb should be enough for windows 10 and FFXI without slowing anything down?
Also, its kind of contradicting. It says integrated graphics in 1 area of the listing but dedicated in another. Which would it be?
By Jetackuu 2019-09-02 21:59:31
It MAY run it ok, without trying the particular chipset it is difficult to tell. I love the marketing though, nothing under $400 is "high performance."

Ok how about this.. think it has everything listed lol little more than I wanted to spend but I think I can get by with it...

Have you considered buying a used laptop?
That one isn't bad btw. You will probably need $100 more for a bigger SSD.

Yeah I've been searching a lot, new, renewed or used just haven't found one very cheap with the 256gb SSD and a dedicated graphics card. Maybe there isn't going to be a cheap one with everything I'm looking for but I'll keep searching and if worst thing just wait and save more money.

Lenovo Ideapad L340 Gaming Laptop, 15.6 Inch FHD (1920 X 1080) IPS Display, Intel Core i5-9300H Processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB Nvme SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, Windows 10, 81LK00HDUS, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VC55LF5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tePBDbV88KZB7
A little cheaper and seems better than the above listed Dell, any thoughts?

Taru /panic
Yes, I think it's going to be the one I end up getting. Definitely don't want to pay $900+ for it. Lol
Only thing that's getting me is this nmve ssd, but from what I'm reading it's a newer/better form of SSD. I just wish I knew more about this stuff!

Might be a touch beyond your price point:
HP Omen 15t (sale, but they're always on sale) for $749
Promo code 5GAMER at checkout knocks it down to $713.
(edit: noticed they do still have their Pavilion gaming machine too, which is here. Big downgrade to the GPU though. Still, $600ish with that promo applied).
A bit more money for a smaller SSD, but otherwise similar specs to the Lenovo. I would assume better overall build quality though. Additionally, while I'm not sure on the 2019 versions, Omens in the past have not used Optimus graphics, making dgVoodoo less of a necessity (it just uses the nVidia card all the time, no need to force it).
Just in general, the $600-750 range tends to be where the cheap gaming laptop range lives. Quality may vary, but you can tend to find something with decent enough specs, and they'll run most any game on the market nicely. Dell G3 would be the current version of that (old model) Inspiron one you linked, which is around $700 starting, less if on sale (likely better to bump up to the G5 if looking at those though). You can likely find last year's version of those closer to $600 on eBay, still brand new.
If you want to go much lower than that and/or buy a higher tier product, as has been mentioned, shop for a used machine. Unfortunately, the commonly stocked refurb machines tend to be corporate models that lack good GPUs.

Thank you, everyone, all the info has been extremely helpful. I almost went with a pavilion but ended up getting approved through Affirm on Walmart to finance, with very little interest, one with similar specs to the Lenovo I missed out on earlier! Win, win :D
This will also match my desktop and all so that's another plus!

Um, no. You're better off with a single core, and no "any recent laptop" will not do.
So, not sure where to really post this but here goes.
I am looking to buy a laptop to run FFXI smoothly. I figured I might need to use dgvoodoo either way which isn't a problem, just something I've never tried before.
Can anyone recommend a decent laptop to get me started?
I've been looking at this: HP 15 Laptop 15.6" , AMD Ryzen 3 2200U, AMD Radeon Vega 3, 1TB HDD, 4GB SDRAM, Jet Black, 15-db0066wm

Any thoughts?
