If you invent something great and want it to be manufactured in China you HAVE to share all the technology with other Chinese companies through the state run agencies.

It all comes down to this, you don't have to manufacture everything in China.

In the beginning they didn't know this would happen, China changed the rules after companies had invested a couple hundred billion into China's infrastructure. Now that the whole world is heavily invested into Chinese manufacturing it would be prohibitively expensive to directly switch to another country and instead their rolling out new infrastructure into countries like Vietnam. Also while the Chinese are horribly corrupt and unfair, they are also very stable so the probability of their investment going up in Venezuelan flames is pretty low.

Average of all tariffs on things from china to US before Trump, 4%
Average of all tariffs on things from US to China before Trump, 10%

Libs: Thats a free market.

Once again proving they have no understanding of what capitalism or free markets are.

China cannot succeed without the US marketplace. They need access to us as customers. The 500 billion we give them is too valuable to their economy. This ultimately gives us the far greater leverage in this fight.

Or maybe, just maybe, some people don't view the world in such absolute, idealistic terms.

Conservatives don't like taxes either. That doesn't mean that supporting a tax rate above 0% makes you a liberal. What you want to happen and what reality dictates are often two different things. A free market only works if everyone plays ball, and sometimes you have to go against the grain to make that happen.

They are liberals, it's all or nothing, friend or foe, with them or against them, by definition they can only see black and white.

Blasphemous, appropriative, and wildly popular: the rise of the celebrity prayer candle
Gift shops and Etsy are selling prayer candles featuring AOC, the Golden Girls, and Dolly Parton. Why are they so popular?

Quote:
Plastered onto a long, cylindrical, glass-encased prayer candle is the image of a man with the most perfect middle part you’ve ever seen. From the top of his haloed head flows a cascade of thick brown hair that ends just below his shoulders. The figure is adorned in robes and holding a ... hair dryer?

This prayer candle is one of Angie Quintanilla Coates’s best-sellers, and the image is not of Jesus — it’s of *** Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness. And unlike a traditional prayer candle that sells for about $2, this one is $12.

Van Ness is one of many stars on the celebrity-studded prayer candles Coates sells at her shop, The Five15. Others include Frida Kahlo, Dolly Parton, and political figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. They are all fashioned to look like saints, or, as Coates calls it, a “modern version of a saint.” ...

I didn't mean this to be in absolute, but it is amusing seeing you guys being supportive of putting additional taxes on Americans so you can bail out your farmers.

Again, not ideal, but letting China walk all over us isn't helping either. When you come up with an amazing solution that doesn't hurt anyone anywhere while simultaneously making the market fair for all players, let us know so that I can inform the Nobel committee.

I guess some of those people qualify as saints. It's a miracle that AOC can even tie her own shoes, so she's well beyond the three-miracle requirement by now.

What you quoted is completely unrelated, but anyways my point still stands.

You won't get a completely free market ever, even less if you are going to impose tariffs because you can't compete. You are supporting what you hate.
You're not talking about fair competition, we have not competed fairly against a communist market like china. We have been givem a handicap. You’re the one saying “youd better get used to the handicap” while everyone else is saying “lets have a fair playing field”.

China can either treat us fairly or suffer the consequences. It about time we had a president that stood up for us.

Fair competition in a free market, hahahaha. Oh god that one is funny. Thanks for the laughs.
Literally all anyone needs to understand you have no idea what a free market is.

Truly jaw dropping.

The pay pennies, no osha, non significant labor laws. That's why manufacturers love those eastern asia countries.
Sounds heavenly. Can we also employ minors to work in factories too???? I mean that's an untapped market right there!!

Unfortunately many Americans are suffering the consequences. None of them are elected officials. I think elected officials should be made to suffer.

More than a few Republicans have called for "revisiting" child labor laws. Why should the 7 year olds in Bangladesh get all those good factory jobs?

Not really, part of our robust economic growth is because tariffs are in place pushing us companies to do more business here.

Tgis whole idea that your bull at target is suddenly going up 25% is just ***.
