i havent seen it yet- just moreso that i'm not even interested in seeing it in the first place. dumb origin story just to set up this new OP person to show up in Endgame and save everyone. hope she won't be as OP in Endgame as i fear Definitely a legit concern.

i don't think social commentary/feminism can really be the problems here,
It's the lack of anything else redeemable in the film and thus it's only left with SJW feminist BS.
Creating a new character wasn't an issue, it was the decision to poorly cast the main character and not give a damn about the script. Yep, her single motivation is to proove wrong a composit memory of male bullies that told her she wasn’t good enough because she was a girl.
In the end she gets her montage where she repeatedly stands up to them as she standa up to the actual supervillan, and thats it, thats all there is to her. Fury does an excellent job. The could have titled this as a Fury origin story and almost gotten away with it. Hes the one you really wanna see on screen, and he pretty much carries the movie anyways.

Thats Shazam. It was a copyright infringement lawsuit, first filed in 1953, that claimed Captain Marvel, the big red cheese illustrated above, was ripping off Superman. For background Captain Marvel outsold superman in the post WWII '40s.
It was settled in favor of Superman 11 or 12 years later. So DC* got the rights to the character but not the name. Therefore Shazam.
*I think the publisher's name was DC when the suit was settled, if not it was changed not long after. I posted a link to the lawsuit somewhere on the last page.

What I do normally is read reviews and watch videos before I would waste time/money on a film.
Sometimes even reading the plot on wikipedia so I don't have to watch the movie.

Yes and this is deliberate attempts by the RT group to raise the audience rating as a way to mitigate the backlash from politicizing a comic book movie. Brigading reviews works bother ways and if anything the production studios have significantly greater ability to brigade up then 4chan has to brigade down.

58,000 scores of zero before the movie was released. Still thousands of zero scores remain, needless to say, user scores have been irrelevant for years. Its not a new phenomenon.

I would expect user reviews to be banned altogether because of the review bombing practice spilling over into movies. It happened with Black Panther and now Captain Marvel. Its not like either troll effort had an effect on people going to see the movie, Black Panther brought in over a billion and Captain Marvel is already at 455m worldwide after one weekend. Everyone is going to see it, its the first big movie of the year.

What a movie makes doesn't mean it is good. Hell Avatar broke box office records...and I didn't watch it but that movie looks terrible.
