I really can't well what is so "fantasy" about a wall. We already have physical barriers on 1/3 of the border and the border patrol apparently wants more. I fail to see why this is such a sticking point.

Because they know walls work, and they know stopping illegal immigration is an existential threat to the democrat party.

The Dems won the second the Senate passed the bill with no wall funding. The GOP led Senate doesn't want a wall and neither do the American people. You are the minority nausi. Trump will end his shutdown with no wall. He made his case, it was rejected.

Pelosi is going to pass more bills this week opening other parts of the government, creating more pressure on the GOP while not suffering any herself.

There is no question putting up walls decreases traffic.

San Diego built 1992, traffic dropped 92%
El Paso built 1993, traffic dropped 95%
Tucson built 2000, traffic dropped 90%
Yuma built 2005, traffic dropped 95%

Walls work everywhere they're built. over the last 30 years over 20 countries have put them up with about a dozen proposed and/or in construction. Why would all these countries waste money on something that doesn't work?

Noones cherry picking numbers. Walls work, that's why we still put them around prisons despite the fact that some inmates occasionally escape.

If there is no pressure on her to come up with a solution that can actually pass, then she's not even trying. Stop worshipping at the Pelosi shrine for 12 seconds and think critically about what she should be doing instead of what we already know won't pass the Senate.

She is doing exactly what she should be doing, trying to open the goverment and end the suffering of the people affected by the Trump shutdown. The reforms you are dreaming of aren't going to happen with the govt closed. Trump has stopped the agenda, admitting he would look foolish if he didn't get some concessions. Too late for that, and you aren't getting anything. might as well end your shutdown.

Pelosi owns the shutdown refusing to send anything past the house that would actually get approved, she's just incompetent. I mean almost gender stereotypically incompetent.

Because the Dems are blameless. The Senate passed a bill unanimously, Trump said he would sign it, the alt right cried foul, Trump caved and pulled his support, causing the shutdown. He bears 100% of the responsibility. He let Ann Coulter get in his head. It's that simple.

Correction, I was looking at favorability numbers, not approval. There isn't much data on Pelosi approval, but a lot of data on favorability. That being said, let's compare apples to apples:

Trump's favorability and unfavorability ratings have been mostly stable since May freaking 2017 (and that includes after the government shutdown started, btw).

Pelosi, however, got her post-election bump. Woo. Just watch. She'll be back to her abysmal -25 net average in no time once everyone realizes what they always knew: She's only good for her influence and fundraising and won't get anything substantive accomplished.

Some woman I never heard of says it is time to impeach Trump.
