This is he dumbest thinng youve ever said. These factual data in sandiego that the walls reduced illegal crossings OVER 90%. It doesn’t matter if a few people could theoretically get over the wall, it deters the vast majority from the attempt.
If a pregnant woman can climb over your wall, almost anyone can. It didnt reduce crossings overall, 90% reduction in that area ... they just went around the wall ... Sure you can put a 500 miles long wall but then they will either try going around it by the sea or under the wall ... Or simply climb over it ... They can use ladders and rope if they arent as skilled as a 9 month pregnant woman.
Prisoners break out of jails, i guess those walls are useless huh?
(Imagine not being able to consider this aspect of ones argument)

How about:
Why do the Democrats have to approve money to build a wall when Trump said Mexico is going to pay for it via NAFTA 2.0?

If Mexico gave him a check for $20 billion, Congress would still need to appropriate the money.
Thanks for showing everybody you have no idea how government works.

Why would I have to when I demonstrated to contrary 12pgs ago?
And the money will go nowhere.
Government departments can’t take donations it impacts their budgets. Whatever they we’re to accept they can expect not to receive the next fiscal year.
This has already been turned down.
If your boy Donald gave two shits about protecting the borders there wouldn’t be a shutdown. He wouldn’t be threatening to shut down the very function he claims he’s trying to bolster.
Thanks for demonstrating why you’re an easy Mark.

Its a non essential (partial) shutdown. Border patrol is still functioning. How much longer are the democrats going to hold the country hostage because they’d rather make fools of themselves than protect the borders?

Man, these young-blood Democrats in Congress are going to be the gift that keeps on giving. Keep it up, you little rascals.

How many manned moon landings were you all taught happened?
My whole life I have always been taught and always heard the discussion how there was only 1 manned moon landing ever and jokes about how we only went once and never went back...

If the border patrol is still functioning then the borders are protected.
Sounds like you just want to waste money on a wall because it makes your New England self feel warm and fuzzy on a cold winters night.

The National Border Patrol Council commissioned a survey earlier last year that showed that a vast majority (89%) of border patrol agents supported the notion that a “wall system in strategic locations is necessary to securing the border.”
Now, you can argue what "strategic locations" means in relation to Trump's vision but, according to the people who actually protect the borders, we actually need physical barriers.

According to one of the members of the Apollo 13 crew, Fred Haise:
Quote: "It only seems interesting to the public if it's the first exploration of another planetary body, or if you're having a problem."
So yeah, that's why you only ever seem to hear about Apollo 11 and Apollo 13 even though Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17 all had men set foot on the moon.

If federal workers decide they are done working for free, that will end the Trump shutdown pretty quick with the house bill getting passed.

I was always taught that America only ever had 2 attacks on American soil: Pearl Harbor and 9/11.
But now I’m suddenly hearing that the fist attack on American soil was actually the Black Tom Island terrorist attack, and that the explosion was so great it damaged the Statue of Liberty, making its torch inaccessible to tourists for over 100 years.
was anyone taught this in school? I wasn’t...

While I had never heard of the black tom island attack the British did torch the white house during the war of 1812.
They tend not to teach that one in school either.

Let me guess they also didn’t teach you about John Brown in school too?

Its remarkable what I learn by reading Wonkette which does actual journalism as well as *** jokes, unlike Fox "news" which does neither. Except Wonkette doesn't do either of them particularly well. To be fair, I can't think of many examples of people/organizations that excel at either one. They do journalism better than Fox, and *** jokes better than Louis C.K. but that's a pretty low bar.
Seriously though Journalism NPR > CNN > Wonkette > MSNBC. AmIrite?

I'm not so bothered by the notion that they're not taught as part of a curriculum (because there's a crapload of other useful and/or interesting history topics out there to cover). I'm more bothered when I've attempted to study something in-depth only to later find out that a bunch of really cool stuff was omitted.
Kinda like with the whole Black Tom Island thing. It's not like I've never researched the Statue of Liberty before. I've visited the thing. And now I'm just finding out about this German-caused massive explosion that damaged it during WWI? That's way too interesting a story to omit from even casual conversations about the statue.

The Germans tried to infiltrate New York a few times during WWI and WWII, both times being shut down by the Italian crime families. Despite Italy being an Axis ally, the Italians in New York viewed themselves as Americans, and while the Nazis were smuggling in pistols, the gangsters were standing there on the docks with Tommy guns. Needless to say, the Germans died.

I grew up in New York. I visited the statue as a kid, more than once.
We were told the torch was closed due to structural issues (maybe not in those exact words) but weren't told what caused the structural issues.
Far more important historically is WE LOST THE WAR OF 1812. Yet Richard Nixon said "I will not be the first president to loose a war."

Uh, no boundary changes resulted from the war, and both sides won their share of battles. It was, for all intents and purposes, a stalemate.

I find it strange that these events seem to be actively obscured even to this day despite the political relevance to agenda being long dead

...
Far more important historically is WE LOST THE WAR OF 1812. Yet Richard Nixon said "I will not be the first president to loose a war." Uh, no boundary changes resulted from the war, and both sides won their share of battles. It was, for all intents and purposes, a stalemate. Let's see.... They sailed into Chesapeake Bay, Marched into Washington D. C. and burned large chunks of the city including the white house. Were it not for a providential storm the city would have been burnt to the ground.
Our government ran away and sued for peace. (Yes, this is an oversimplification.)
We did win the battle of New Orleans but that was about 30 days after the treaty was signed.
