More border agents, more technology, more immigration judges, more detention centers, those are all on the table, and are all way cheaper, safer, and way more reliable than a stupid wall that will never (and was never going to) be built. Its dead.
How are they more reliable and safer? You can kill border guards and border guards can't be in every spot along the border at once.

As for cost, it would be interesting to see a financial breakdown. If a good wall was built it could last for 100 years, or until Mexicans are the majority in America and democratically vote to tear it down, whichever comes sooner.
IDK, China's wall has lasted for well over 1,000 years and never did them much good. And in places in both the USA and Israel where there are border walls there are tunnels.

Because having all that AND a wall is just too crazy.

The only reasons libs don't want a wall are these:
1. They want more voters to come across the border.
2. Trump wants one.

Simple as that.

Although a useful deterrent against raids, at several points throughout its history the Great Wall failed to stop enemies, including in 1644 when the Manchu Qing marched through the gates of Shanhai Pass and replaced the most ardent of the wall-building dynasties, the Ming, as rulers of China.

In actuality the great wall didn’t stop a determined group.

I don’t think the wall building nuts actually believe the wall to be the end all be all of ultimate defenses

That's the biggest reason, if they agree to that then they would be seen as weak and failing The Resistance.

If walls wont work then why are libs so terrified to spend what amounts to a tenth of 1% of the government budget on one?

Of course they work. Can you imagine being so scared of Trump that you’re driven to say walls don’t work?

Dems take over on Jan 3, Speaker Pelosi will immediately pass a bill to end the Trump shutdown with no wall funding. It will be up to the Senate to send it to Trump, The "trump base" cant do anything to the Democrats.

How did you get to race baiting from an issue about violent drug cartels? How does race relate to illegal entry of a sovereign territory?
drug cartel is not a “issue of mexicans” as you put it. maybe you should follow the money

Lol, that bill expires on Jan 3rd when the 115th Congress comes to an end. It will never pass the Senate. Speaker Pelosi will pass a new bill.

Because the "Mexican issue" is a drug cartel issue.

The migrant caravan, which hasn't been mentioned by the right wing media since the election, is a Central American issue.

Democrats are so committed to their open borders agenda that they shut the government down days before Christmas rather than protect our border from crime, human trafficking, and drugs.

To open the government, obviously. The Senate GOP wants no part of this Trump shutdown, they passed the clean CR with unanimous voice vote. They know the wall is dead. The only reason the govt is closed is Trump. They had a deal in place.

Everything was fine until a combination of Fox and the troglodyte "freedom" caucus killed it.
