Well your post was a bit confusing.
You said "those final fights", so I thought you meant the head/body/pants that were rewards from those scenarios. But I just double checked and saw they also drop a KI to let you pull an item from the Tenshodo box.

But those accessories werent random augs either as they had a set pool of augments. Also, I dont think they can put auged stuff in the treasure pool, so it would be another KI conversion.

I'm fed up of random augs though, especially for something like this:
https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Ebon_Key

I dont entirely trust those numbers, but it's all thats available to work with. So you have a 50:50 chance to get a ring or a shitty med/scroll. Among that 50:50 chance, you then have a 1/8 chance to get the ring you want. Then you have to hope to get a good aug (or two if you can get double augs) as negative augs are available.

Finally a way to kill my adventuring fellow forever!

They need to let us trade in the pearl and make our fellow a trust.

Would permit a customizable trust.

Don't see that happening, but Fujito did talk about about limited trust customization in the Dengeki Online interview earlier this year.

This is still in the idea phase, so it’s not a finalized specification, but we’re not just thinking about simply boosting the Trusts’ parameters. For example, we’re considering something like equippable items tailored to specific Trust types, such as tank types or mage types. It’s somewhat similar to the attachments for Automatons. For tank-type Trusts, you might be able to equip something that makes them more resistant to physical attacks or magical attacks, allowing for a degree of customization in their role. However, since this is still just a concept, if it starts to feel too complex, we’ll reconsider. Actual implementation would likely begin next year.

In the same interview he mentions that Cloud HTMB was a happy little accident; There originally wasn't any battle content planned between Peach Power and Limbus, but one of the former XI devs had some time to work on XI again and knocked it out.

So when you talk about "why don't we have X HTMB yet?" - well, it's probably on a list somewhere waiting for Fujito to find the developer hours to make it happen.

^ Asking for ANYTHING is a crapshoot, we all know that all their devs are locked away in some closet... all 3 of them... and none of them know how the code works anymore so its all about maintaining rather than building.

That being said, for all of us who love this game, making suggestions or hoping for things to happen similarly to "happy accidents" such as the Cloud HTMB is literally all we can do. I like to think that atleast asking for them to use established assets or battlefields rather than create something from scratch is better and more realistic than shouting into the ether. Similar to how some people on the survey asked for new expansions.... that's not realistic. If anything, asking for a HTMB from a player perspective seems ALOT easier to implement than something like peach power.

Edit:

Also, the impression I get is that they have 1 guy working on Limbus... SLOWLY?... and the rest of them very slowly balancing rotating monthly adjustments, maintenance, and tweaks with occasional work on Besieged. Once they finally finish Besieged in 2028 and Limbus in 2030, there will be a clean slate to futz about with other nonsense

I feel like it's worth remembering that in their effort to lower costs to keep FFXI running "as long as they can", FFXI no longer exists as an independent entity at SE.
It has no budget, as it was folded into the FFXIV budget.
It had no dedicated devs anymore, not one. They told us this and justified it on the basis of not locking devs into working on obsolete ps2 coding. So any dev work on FFXI is handled by XIV devs when they are between XIV tasks.
And it has no dedicated hardware either. All our servers are run on virtual machines on the XIV servers.
