Wasn't there a strat with pets? Or am I mixing things around?

My notes from years ago:
Corse Ambu:
MNK PLD WHM BRD COR BLU
PLD tanks the Corse, MNK does a nice long SC (Godhands are nice here) like Shijin > Asuran > Smite > Shijin > Smite. At around ~95% and ~35%, a bunch of adds will pop. Use Holy Circle when the adds come up, and try to focus down the one(s) that targeted squishy people. After all the adds are down, get back on the main boss.
If BRD and COR have DD gear, they can help MNK with adds.
Normal BRD and COR buffs. BRD should apply Wind Threnody II, Elegy, Requiem, and Nocturne.
It's important for the WHM to remove blind, it's brutal (200 acc)
BLU must set Feather Tickle and Reaving Wind and use them to remove the TP from the boss.

Unless the doom is linked to the charm landing, think pets would be SoL too in regards to dealing with the main boss
By Dodik 2025-03-03 11:37:23
IIRC doom only happens if you're charmed and pets are immune to charm.
By Nariont 2025-03-03 11:50:22
Possible work around there then, jp wiki says in the case of multiple targets the person directly behind the corse will not be charmed, though may still occur if the pet also dodges, donno, still if the pets bypass the charm/doom entirely then that is an alternate(slower, thus bad) option

What the *** is someone gonna do with 4 cards? Even at 100 pts per card, depending on carry-over, you're getting 35ish cards. If you're lucky, its enough to upgrade a pair of boots from +1 to +3.

Not great for your main, but for mules with ***-all else to get for login points, it's 4 per character, so could be over 100 if you have a shitload of mules.
I'm never going to do it and don't have anywhere near that many mules, but since they're dboxable among your account, it's not REALLY 4 total.

So the 750 points per card is potentially useful for the people who are paying $28.95 USD per month to have 15 mules on standby for the sake of burning login pts.
gotcha.

Oh, I guess the max is actually 16, for some reason I thought it was 32. I guess the max you could get is 60 cards, but that's not too insignificant, other than the massive waste of time logging in to all of them like...20 times or however long the campaigns are. If you don't want to do omen (or can't) on some crappy job, it beats getting 30 Savory Shanks, or whatever.
What do people use login points for these days? I can honestly say I haven't spent login points for probably a year or two, on any character. Well...maybe I've gotten a few Impish Boxes I guess, and the 10 point nonsense for vanabout.
Login points are basically useless unless you spam Up in Arms or still need a dring, some trusts, or mounts.

FFXI players: This game shouldn't be designed to reward the peasant casuals, it should focus on rewarding only the dedicated players.
FFXI* Does an ludicrous thing that only reward dedicated players.
FFXI players: So, what's all this then?!?

I think people only pay attention to login pts to see if they ever bring back Abyssea items, then go back to ignoring they exist for a month until the next announcement.

Instead of adding Job Cards at an exorbitant rate via Login Points or throwing them arbitrarily in AMAN Trove, they should adjust the conversion rate of Job Cards from the Goblin with that ridiculous 10:1 model, to something like 5:1, and make it 3:1 during card campaigns. There really is no reason for 200+ cards for gear that's several years old at this point, and some jobs are royally screwed out of getting cards vs others that can solo them.

It's actually kinda impressive how slow and expensive AF upgrades still are.

If they're actually adding +4 AF in limbus, expect them to finally adjust +2/+3 acquisition with exchange or lowering amount.
At least "reasonably" expect it, sooner or later. Definitely not guaranteed though.

FFXI players: This game shouldn't be designed to reward the peasant casuals, it should focus on rewarding only the dedicated players. I completely get the irony you're trying to underline, but to be honest it was a laaaarge minority who was asking (and is still asking) for that.
Everybody else (the large majority) didn't want that specifically or simply didn't care.
The problem lies in the "visibility" these two different types of audience have. The first if tipically very vocal whereas the second is not. This often leads to the idea that the first is the majority and the second doesn't exist.
It's not quite the case xD

80 cards possible with full 16 characters on the account, if you have points to carry over (which I imagine most mules have some unless you spend all points every month on login crap). 2500-2700 new points obtainable per month in addition to the up to 1500 carried over, 3750 points needed to buy 5 cards on a character.
And while you could go hardcore and log in every mule every day, you can still get multiple cards with substantially less effort if you're satisfied with not totally maxing it out. For as little effort as logging in 4 times in a month and talking to a moogle, you could get 48 cards @3 cards per mule: 1500 carry over + 500 first login + 300 for 3 more logins = 2300 points. Not really that burdensome. If even that is too much, if you have 1000+ points rolled over you just have to log in a single time and talk to the moogle to buy 2 cards per mule.
Just hope you don't spend all your points and then Empy items return the next month! But that's also a risk you'd be taking if you spend all your points in any given login campaign.
For me personally, I have 3 active characters + 13 deactivated mules on my primary account. I sometimes get stuff with the mules when the free login/return home to Vana'diel campaign is on, and I buy bonanza marbles on them (bonanza purchase period has coincided with free login campaigns for the past couple years). I'd spend the $13 to reactivate them all if Empy items ever reappear, or if there was some other login point item I wanted. I always try to hold a minimum of 500 points to carry over for a valuable month (i.e., allowing me to obtain at least 3000 points per mule for 2x 1500 point items, 3x 1000 pointers, or 4x 750 points), and that requires almost no effort - just log each mule in one time when a free play campaign comes up for 500 points.

They always announce the next login before the current spending period ends so you just have to pay attention.

Okay, so... why would this be necessary if they planned to reinstate classic Limbus when the ilvl version releases? Kind of sounds to me like that content really is just gone forever now.
