Colin Kaepernick started the protest to bring attention to police killing unarmed, or legally armed, black men. It is about racism. Textbook 1st and 2st amendment rights.
Your 1st amendment rights don't protect you from being fired. Trump didn't ask to have him locked up in prison, did he?
It's actually a really interesting situation.
We've all got that pearl-clasping aunt or tough guy uncle (or we are that person in the case of some folks here, I'm sure) who say the things he's saying. The POTUS
also has First Amendment rights.
But he also should have the wherewithal to understand that no one takes Aunt Janice to heart when she says that people should be fired for not being patriotic enough.
When the POTUS says it...it comes across as a bit more than a personal opinion. He's the Commander-in-Chief. If he and enough officials decide that not being patriotic enough is a domestic threat, bad things could happen. Deadly things.
For not being patriotic enough.
That is
extremely unlikely but it is
not impossible.
I don't like most of the things he says. That's my right as a dissenting voter. You may like the things he says. That's also your right as a voter.
I just hope at least some people who got all worked up about Obama's "racism" understand why people get so worked up around Donald's "fascism."
And that goes the other *** way too, by the way, my liberal friends. Don't think only righties fall into this trap. The left has spent so long screaming "fascism and all the other -isms" about everything that when they actually come along the words have lost meaning.
See: "Nazi."
