Quote: Third terror suspect is arrested after a five-hour manhunt and CONFESSES to ramming a truck into shoppers in Stockholm and killing at least five people before fleeing a dramatic shootout.
Police have arrested a terror suspect who has confessed to ramming a truck into shoppers in Stockholm, killing at least five people.
The man went on the run after fleeing the scene following a chaotic shootout.
The suspect, who was 'lightly injured', was arrested in Marsta, a suburb north of Stockholm. Members of the public contacted police after he was seen acting strangely.
A police spokesman said: 'One person has been arrested who may be connected with the incident.'
The hijacked vehicle crashed into a packed shopping centre and burst into flames.
Three men jumped out from the lorry and opened fire before trying to stab pedestrians, witnesses said.
Two men were tackled to the ground and arrested - but a third suspect went on the loose - immediately making him Europe's most wanted man.
Police released CCTV of the man wearing a green jacket, white shoes and a grey hoodie. Police have confirmed the arrested suspect resembles the man in the photos they released earlier.
Stockholm's Central Station was shut down. The tube network was also closed amid fears the suspect was hiding underground but has now been cleared to open, according to Stockholm's public transport authority.
Officers said the vehicle crashed into a group of people on the street outside a shopping centre in Klarabergsgatan after racing down six streets at about 3pm local time.
Hundreds of shoppers were seen fleeing for their lives after the articulated lorry rammed into the corner of the building.
Horrifying images of the aftermath show blood smeared on the roads and bodies covered by blankets. Police say 15 people were injured.
Stockholm Police said they were questioning two people in relation to the attack, but said they were not currently suspected of criminal activity.

Quote: - The arrested person fits the description of a person who remained close to the event, says Stefan Hector at the National Police operational unit at the press conference.
They do not want to say straight out that it is the driver of the truck that has been arrested in Märsta.
The man also had a balaclava and broken glass on his clothes.
Aftonbladet thinks the man was observed in surveillance at the main station and the train north.
The man was arrested by the National Task Force, according to several informants. During the arrest the man was wrestled down on the ground, according to Aftonbladet.
Police do not rule out that the suspect may have had accomplices. It is something they are looking at in the ongoing investigation.

Aftonbladet apparently wrote an article in English so I can stop google translating and fixing mistakes
Quote: At least four people have died during an attack where a lorry crashed into pedestrians in the Swedish capital Friday afternoon.
”Sweden has been attacked, everything points to an act of terror”, says Swedish prime minister Stefan Löfven.
Police are currently urging people to stay away from downtown Stockholm.
All hospitals in the Stockholm area have been put in a state of emergency.
✓ This is a ongoing breaking news story. More information is expected, this article is updated regularly.
At 2:53 pm, Friday afternoon, police was alerted to Drottninggatan, a main shopping street in downtown Stockholm.
An hour later Swedish prime minister Stefan Löfven stated that Sweden has become the scene for an apparent terrorist attack.
”Sweden has been attacked, everything points to an act of terror” says the Swedish PM in a brief statement.
A lorry was, in what seems to be a deliberate attack, driven several blocks along the pedestrian street and both hit and ran over several people.
The lorry then drove straight into the storefront of the Åhléns department store, a main spot for Friday shoppers in the Swedish capital. Shortly thereafter the lorry caught fire.
At least four people have been killed in the attack and there is ”a large number of wounded”.
”I saw hundreds of people running. They ran for their lives” says eyewitness Anna to Aftonbladet. ”I turned and ran aswell!”
Another eywitness, Durde, tells Aftonbladet of how he saw the lorry hit innocent bystanders: ”The lorry just drove, full speed ahead, down Drottninggatan hitting people” he says. ”We had to throw ourselves into an H&M store, and then the lorry hit Åhléns”.
Doing some Friday shopping on the street of Drottninggatan Jan Granroth heard people scream: ”We were inside a shoe store and heard noise. I looked out from the store to see this huge truck slam into the wall on the opposite side of the street” says he.
Granroth had to escape through an emergency exit out onto a neighboring backstreet.
Dimitris, another eyewitness describes the panic when the truck came out of nowhere.
”I was walking on the main street when a big truck came out of nowhere” he tells Aftonbladet. ”I could not see if anyone was driving it, but it seemed out of control. I saw at least two people being run over. I ran as fast as I could away from there”.
During the afternoon central Stockholm was held in a complete lockdown. Car traffic as well as trains and underground trains were all shut down.
Just before 8 pm Friday evening the Stockholm underground were up and running again, however no trains are allowed to stop at T-centralen and Hötorget stations, the ones closest to the attack.
The Swedish government offices, situated a block from Drottninggatan, approximately 700 meters from where the attack took place, were evacuated and all ministers put to safety.
The Stockholm central station, in close proximity to both Drottninggatan shopping street and Åhléns department store, was also evacuated after a bomb threat, presumed to be related to the attack on street level.
Police are urging people to stay away from downtown Stockholm and to avoid large crowds.
According to the Swedish Security Service during a press conference at 5.50 pm Friday afternoon, the lorry, belonging to a well known Swedish brewery, was stolen in central Stockholm shortly before the attack.
The driver was hit by the lorry as he tried to stop a suspect from stealing the vehicle. According to sources the suspect covered his head with a black hoodie.
During the press conference the Swedish Security Service also presented a picture from security footage, taken in close proximity to the Åhléns department store, of a man wanted for questioning. According to the Security Service the man is not a suspect but rather a person of interest, and might have information of importance for the ongoing investigation.
Around 8.30 pm a man was arrested in the town of Märsta outside Stockholm. A source tells Aftonbladet that the man claims to be responsible for the attack.
Police confirm that one man has been arrested in connection with the attack in Stockholm, and that he resembles the person on the pictures, previously acknowledged as a ”person of interest”.
This photo released by Swedish police shows a person that the investigators want for questioning.

Police urges anyone who have information regarding this man to call 114 14.
At 6 pm Swedish police evacuated stores and boutiques along Drottninggatan shopping street where the attack took place three hours earlier.

That means nothing. This is how Sweden's police react to even the smallest of offenses:

What is wrong with giving Russia advanced notice. We aren't at war with Russia.

That Twitter post is beyond stupid. Not only are we not at war with Russia, but we have an agreement to warn each other ahead of such strikes so that we don't end up killing each others' people as collateral damage. If the Russians used the opportunity to warn Syria, that's their prerogative. We still destroyed a crapload of Syria's stuff.

Not only that, but buildings and airfields aren't exactly easy or cheap to replace.
And I highly doubt we gave Russia enough warning for Russia to remove much in terms of weapons. This was a surprise attack.

And beyond that, even if they do replace the buildings and airfields, that wasn't the point of the strike. The point was to show that we're not screwing around, which is how one enforces a red line.

Quote: There is still much that is shrouded in mystery surrounding the 39-year-old man on Friday night arrested on suspicion of involvement in the terrorist attack in Stockholm.
The man was arrested after behaving "oddly" in a store in Märsta. He shall have demonstrated minor injuries and in connection with the arrest said that he is guilty of the attack in Stockholm. According to the sources the man fit the description of the man wanted in connection with the attack. The man also had a balaclava and broken glass on his clothes.
According to Aftonbladet the arrest was in Märsta, but the man, who is said to be an Uzbek citizen, is registered in another Stockholm suburb.
How long the man lived in Sweden is still unclear. On his Facebook page, he has posted propaganda films for IS. He also liked a picture of bloody people, taken seconds after the explosion at the Boston Marathon April 15, 2013.
Aftonbladet has been in contact with a friend of the arrested man.
She says she can not believe the 39-year-old is behind what happened in Stockholm.
- He has four children and works in the construction industry.
- He never talks politics or religion, the only thing he's talked about is getting more jobs so he could send money home to his family.
She also says that he does not live at the address where he's written, but south of Stockholm.

Don't you remember Trump pleading with Obama on twitter in 2013 not to enforce the red line because he wanted to look super cool doing it when it he got a turn at being president?

If any Russians were killed it would have started a massive conflict, if not a war. The attack really serves as a PR move for Trump and a warning to Assad and Russia that the use of chemical weapons will not be tolerated. Hopefully some of their weapons were destroyed as well.

Of course I remember, it's been posted everywhere. There's one thing you have to remember about modern presidents, though. Almost all of them change their tune about military actions as soon as they enter office. I don't know if it's the mantle of military power they inherit, or a different outlook due to all the confidential military information they receive, or the direct influence of military leaders with whom they speak, or all of the above. I'm not saying it's right, but what Trump said years ago is not nearly as important as what he is actually doing now.

It is fun to remind supporters and detractors of their previous stances.
Like Obama wanting to do the same thing but didn't get support from congress and backed off due to lack of congressional support.

So, big week for Trump and his team.
1) Rice was shown to have abused her power as NSC and ordered illegal unmasking (surprise, surprise, I found the actual law that forbids her in unmasking this without reasonable cause, and we already know that the conversations unmasked were personal in nature).
2) Judge Gorsuch is now a Supreme.
3) The world, after 8 years of silence, finally gets to see what a real leader looks like. And he's orange!
Sucks to be you, libs.

Lol, well #1 didn't happen at all, Susan Rice did nothing wrong and you haven't shown anything indicating she did. I'm sure you will link to all of your posts which at best proved nothing or at worst proved she did nothing wrong.
And #3 didn't really happen either, we have to see what Trump's next move regarding Syria is. And unless he aims to remove Assad, its going to be back to the Obama strategy.

Lol, well #1 didn't happen at all, Susan Rice did nothing wrong and you haven't shown anything indicating she did. Just because you refuse to read outside your echo chamber doesn't mean it didn't happen.
The NSC has a right to request unmasking for security purposes, and only on foreign affairs. Tell us, why would Rice unmask conversations between American citizens talking about their family?
Or are you still keeping your head up your posterior?
And #3 didn't really happen either, we have to see what Trump's next move regarding Syria is. Let's see, we have had almost 4 years of Syria crossing that red line in the sand on Obama's watch, and he did absolutely nothing. They crossed it once under Trump's watch and there was a strike almost immediately.
So, yes, the world got to see what a real leader looks like. You didn't vote for him, but he is still your president.
